About Pulcinella

Executive Chef Domenic Tudda spent his childhood years learning of Italian cuisine while his family owned and operated Stromboli's restaurant in Calgary. He furthered his education by undergoing extensive culinary training in Italy and has been able to continue his parent's legacy of bringing unique and incredibly authentic Italian dining to Calgarians. One of the most revered of these ventures is Ristorante Pulcinella, where Domenic first earned distinction when his international training crossed borders and entered Calgary in the spring of 2006. One of the few APN (Associazione Pizzaioli Napolitani) certified pizzerias in the world, Domenic has been able to showcase his culinary skills, incredible wine knowledge, and passion for Italian cuisine to provide Calgary with a truly artistic, original and delicious experience not soon to be forgotten. Certainly not your classical North American pizza, it's definitely different, but definitely delicious.

The pizza at Pulcinella is wonderful; crispy crust, fresh ingredients and generous toppings. I have been several times with friends and business associates. This was my husband’s first visit. He loved it. Next time we are in the area he wants to come back.

We booked reservation at Pulcinellas for a last date night before our baby is to arrive, but didn't enjoy our experience. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait over 20mins, even though there were some empty tables by the front window. When we were finally seated, the noise level was so high, we were unable to converse comfortably. The food and service was good, but we will not be returning to Pulcinellas, or recommending it to our friends.

Always excellent, one of our favorite spots in Calgary and their new lunch menu was a great addition.

Very cool spot. Our server was knowledgeable about everything on the menu including wine. Great sized portions, lots of flavour too! My girlfriend and I always order different appetizers, salads and mains to share. This was definitely not a problem as they are very accommodating with side plates and serving tongs. Can’t believe that we had room left for the Nutella pizza for dessert, but we managed to fit it in;)

Food and service were very good. If you're in the over 40 crowd, bring a flashlight and reading glasses as the restaurant is not well lit and the print on the menu is quite small.

Our server admitted to forgetting to put my pizza order in when she ordered the rest of our meal. My husbands arrived and when we asked about the other she said sorry and put mine in. I told him to eat as it would be cold by the time mine arrived - about 15-20 min later. There was no compensation for the error, which was disappointing. It is extremely loud in that restaurant, could not hear my husband sitting across from me. We rarely go out. I would do take out from Pulcinella again, I would not eat at the restaurant.

The server promoted the feature wine. Granted I should have asked the price. Two bottles later at $82 a bottle I find the restaurant should have been more upfront. In other words, while the dinner tasted great we left with a bad taste in our mouths.

My girlfriends and I came here over the weekend for a girls night as I've read many great reviews about it on Zomato and OpenTable.

The service was great - very attentive and the waitress checked in on us several times; our waters were refilled several times as well.

The food came out pretty quickly (10-15 minute wait after ordering). We started off with the arugula salad and mussels. The sauce that came with the mussels was a little too salty. We shared the gnocchi and carbonara - the gnocchi was not 'al dente' and the carbonara was almost like eating a spoonful of salt. We ended up mixing the two pastas so it was edible. We ended with the Tiramisu for dessert - which was phenomenal.

Service was great - just a food needs improvement.

We went to Pulcinella on a Thursday evening date to finish off the week. We were looking for a nice Italian dinner. I ordered pizza (Sausage and broccoli Rab) and my wife ordered the rigatoni and specifically asked for al dente pasta. The pizza was tasty and well cooked. The crust wasn’t burnt (as it has been in the past....yes I know they ‘char’ it but i’ve Had it come well burnt here before). The pasta was overcooked and mushy and the sauce was very watery and bland. I think that is ‘three strikes you’re out’ for us and Pulcinella.

I wasn’t satisfied with the food. The pizza is tasteless and you don’t get the value for what you pay. The server was very sweet but just disappointed with the food.

Took the lady out for dinner and pulcinella, which was recommended by a friend. We had phenomenal service and the food was exemplary. We had the calamari to start, a couple of the pizzas and a little gelato to end the night. Everything was on point and simply put absolutely delicious. I believe our servers name was Rochelle, she was very friendly and extremely professional. She was always on the ball let alone the fact that the resturaunt was packed.

Would recommend as we will definitely be coming back.

This is a fun place to dine with or without kids. The pizzas are fantastic. We like the prosciutto e rucola. It’s pizza and salad all in one!
One of the things we really love it that they sell Innis&Gunn beer on tap and served in a chalice!

If you have small kids ask to sit around the pizza oven to keep them occupied watching the chefs at work.

Pulcinella has a great ambiance and is perfect for a date or a dinner out with friends. There are many pizza and drink options, all of which are fantastic. The only drawback is that the appetizers and salads are priced like the entres and are small for sharing.

Everytime we visit Pulcinella we leave with full bellies and awesome experience. Whatever you order I can assure you it is gonna be delicious. This time we came with our clients/friends and they had an outstanding experience too.
Try arrancini and you will never want to leave. They come in 3 pieces and if I would not be embarrased I would eat them all by myself lol. 4 people for dinner? No worry, they will be happy to make 4 pieces for you. 😊
Best aperol spritz and cheesecake in city.
It is a bit challenging for parking but dedinitely worth it. Tastes and feels like in Italy(says someone who visited Italy several times)

would stick to just ordering off of the starter menu, best Muscles I have ever had. I think they didn't do there pizza justice as there wasn't enough Char maybe from undercooking or simply not having there oven hot enough.

We have been here multiple times, but this time we had the best pizzas ever. Sometimes the crust has been soggy, but this time neither pizza ended up soggy, even after taking home a few slices and eating it the next day. It was really delicious! Also our server was great! We booked with open table online for 2 people but ended up bringing our toddler and the staff were extremely accommodating and gave us a table for 4. Of all the niche pizza places in Calgary, this is our favourite.

Pulcinella is always a great choice for an evening out. We usually chose th3 same pizza and this night was no exception. They were excellent and not too spicy. The wine list is good and reasonably priced. Our service excellent. The noise level was not as loud as weekend nights so for us, weekdays are a good time to come. We will be back again soon.
Thank you Pulcinella for another great evening.

Food was awesome! Had a lengthy wine list and ended up deciding on sangrias which was a great choice. Pizza and pasta were cooked excellently! The appetizer was perfect. Portion sizes were great. Only negative to the experience was the service was less then expected. Owner was very happy to help but some staff were not as friendly/happy

The food and wine selections were delicious & service was friendly and efficient. The noise level was so high that it was hard to hear each other at our table at times, so I definitely wouldn't recommend it for a romantic dinner or a first-date where you're trying to get to know someone - at least on a Saturday night.
The food prices weren't bad and the wine-by-the-glass prices looked pretty good, until I realized they were for a 5 oz. glass, which made them on the higher end for casual dining in my opinion.

After making a reservation and finally finding parking we go in for the reservation and there is a wait...guy at front kind of laughs when we said we were there for it... defeats purpose of reservation. If we did not have somewhere to be and had extra time we could have waited I guess.

Based on other reviews wishing we could have tried this place but ultimately there are many options in Calgary and not overly concerned as many great places that accept reservations when you make them and do not overbook.

We love Pulcinella, go there fairly often. Love the pizzas, the ones with tomato sauce,
love the pastas, salads and appetizers. I frequently make my dinner from the delish, spicy calamari and the arugula salad 'cause it has melon in it, too. Salad and good protein, it's
my kind of meal! Can't offhand think of fave pizzas, but pretty much any of them do the
trick, love the Neopolitan crust, too. Nice people, always cheerful and helpful. And very fun, you can tell by looking at the other diners that they're as happy to be there as we are, and that's always a good recommendation -- a restaurant filled with happy diners. It can be a little noisy with lots of happy people laughing and having fun, but we like happy noisy!

Friendly service until I sent back my pizza. The wild mushrooms seem to be from a can and not tasty. Said they would redo and I got the same thing boxed. $24 bucks for a medium take out pizza. Way better pizza and better value elsewhere in the city. Famoso and cibo for example. The other diners with me enjoyed their pasta and pizza.
