We enjoyed our dinner for 6, a family get together. Service was wonderful. Pizza was very good as well.
I’ve been going to Pulcinella since they opened. I turned down an opportunity to dine at Sky 360 to visit my favourite restaurant. The Cappriciosa pizza is outstanding.
Upstairs is considerably quieter which is fortunately where we were seated. Downstairs was loud and busy- which is always a good sign!!
Great table service and fabulous food!
Can’t wsit to go back!
Excellent food! Great ambience! It was VERY hot in the restaurant but not unexpected - we were right beside the forno. Our waiter seemed less than thrilled to be there but the service was adequate. Thanks for a delicious dinner!
I love Pulcinella! If you’re a calamari fan make sure you order it. DELICIOUS!! We all ordered pizzas and they were great. Fantastic service as well. Will be back soon.
Pizza and wine were amazing!!!!
Great food, great menu but very very loud. Washrooms very grungy
The portabella mushroom was to die for! The mussels in the tomato sauce was very good as well. Great place !
The Gnocchi al Pomodoro was very good, while the crust on the Capricciosa pizza was not cooked enough (too doughy tasting). Our waitress and other servers were excellent (although the restaurant was not very busy at the time).
Such a great pizza place! Very authentic and tastes just like pizza in Italy!
Food was good, but $24 for a medium-sized pizza really breaks the bank.
Nice wood-fired pizza oven. We shared a pizza & pasta. Both were delicious.
HUGE by-the-glass wine selections !!
Excellent meal. Very nice staff. Sam at the from of the house was awesome
Brought my friend here for a belated birthday lunch; delicious! She is Italian & agreed that the pasta was fresh, delicious, handmade & almost as good as her grandmas:) I’ve been here before & did not disappoint- the cappuccino was delicious, the food superb & the service even better!
We had an enjoyable lunch here. The 3-course lunch special is a great deal and lots of food. The service was fine. The weird thing is the acoustics in this place. When we arrived there were only 4 seated tables but the noise level was HIGH, and it just got worse. It was hard to carry on a conversation because of the noise.
Once again, an enjoyable family occasion. Tried some new dishes this time- ventured from our favorites and were not disappointed.
Pizza similar to Cortona, Italy. Wine list impressive. Great service and value overall
Date night with the husband. Good spot for a Friday night dinner.
The host was beyond the pale rude. I had made a reservation for my family and I, it was my birthday and my parents were visiting from Ontario. When we arrived he (the host) was not nice or welcoming. He acted as though we were an imposition, not seating us or directing us what to do. I have two little kids. We sort of shuffled to the side and waited, not knowing why. He did seat a party that was a walk-in, before us, which was amusing.
Our server was lovely, kind, and jovial. I am so grateful that we were in his section. There was another server who was so attentive and made sure we had water. Without them, this would have been a zero rating.
When it was time to leave, we all had left overs. The host, took our food, without saying what he was doing with it. I asked if we could please pack it up, he did not answer me. Our server returned with the boxes.
He next day, while I was at work, my mother texted me that she cracked her tooth on an olive on her leftover pizza. My mother doesn’t eat olives. She didn’t order a pizza with olives. Somehow, during the packing up process a olive with a pit, found its way onto her pizza. This ruined the rest of her trip as she was getting on a plane the next day, my dentist would not pull it. She had to eat soft liquid foods and was in pain. 3500 dollars later, she will have her tooth pulled and a replacement.
So...the service was great. The food was meh, and expensive. The kitchen’s attention to detail is deplorable. The host, the first person you see when you enter the place, is the actual worst.
Go to Without Papers. Cheaper. Better pizza. Less pretentious. No olives on a pizza that doesn’t have olives. Better yet, order pizza from your favourite pizza place and have it delivered to your home.
I am a regular here as I live in the neighborhood. Peter often looks after us. He is an exceptional server. This is a super spots to enjoy with friends over a wonderful selection of starters and entre's. Love this place.
I met a friend for lunch. We had a seat on the patio and it was great. The food was good and service was great. It was not extremely busy that day but we had a lovely lunch and the ambience was really good.
Was not impressed they ran out of basil. All of their pizza's have basil on them.
We love Pulcinella and it’s our usual choice when we visit Calgary. I was really looking forward to celebrating my birthday there but was left slightly disappointed. The calamari, salad, pizza & wine were delicious, but the dessert fell short in quality. The tiramisu taisted old, dry, and not to mention wasn’t free for my birthday?? But yet the waitress stuck a candle in it and said she doesn’t sing. My daughter’s cheesecake tasted stale. It’s too bad.
Very good food, but a little loud
Love it! Food is great! Just find it to be noisy in the restaurant.
The ambiance was nice and it was easy to get into. That being said, the "famous" oven baked pizza was quite soggy which made it just OK. The Kale Salad was fantastic!
Best Italian in Calgary!
Last time I went there over a year ago was good. This time the taste, quality of food was below average. And for that price, the value was definitely not worth.
Dined on the second floor and temperature was quite cold.
Always delicious food, polite and attentive staff. Only time it’s ever been on the loud side is on a Saturday night with two bigger parties gathered, which is to be expected! Such a great spot in Kensington
Excellent pizza and pasta made the way it should be. Wait staff attentive.
Overall we had a good time but the appie was a bit heavy handed on salt. We felt like being rushed out because the server kept asking if we were done with out food even tho we were still working on it while we chatted. Pizzas, arancini and the arugula & fennel salad were outstanding as always.
We found our waiter tried to rush us to order and a bit arrogant.
The food was very good.
Great food and service! Very enjoyable meal!
I haven’t dined at La Pulcinella for many years but a friend and I decided to grab a late supper. We started off with a nice glass of the feature red wine which was a chianti. It served its purpose well and we moved on to the opener being a tomato basil tortellini soup. The soup was quite nice but strangely (for an Italian place) there was no bread served with the soup. Fortunately upon request out waiter produced a basket of bread (albeit without butter) to accompany the soup.
My friend had spaghetti carbonara and appeared quite pleased with the quantity and quality. I chose The tortellini in a mascarpone sauce with mortadella, pistachios and fresh sage. The sauce was very dense and tasty, and the pasta was fresh and nicely done. All in all, the food was excellent.
The waiter was busy but personable. The room itself was quite loud but we didn’t have to raise our voices too much to hear each other.
If you like straightforward pasta and pizza (Siciliano style) I think you will be happy dining at La Pulcinella. However, there is a limited antipasti menu and no meat, fish or fowl selections available for dinner, if that is your wish, so be aware.
Excellent food and great service staff! The style of the ambiance is not for me personally, but it was overall quite beautiful and they had a really neat motorbike on display. Again I must emphasise how incredible the food was. As well as the espresso!! Great choice of restaurant for an anniversary dinner.
Great pizza and pasta as usual. The service is always great and we feel spoiled.
The pizza was full of good flavour - only downside was the soggy middle crust- fix that and it would have been perfect.
Very nice wine list - had the Michele Satta Rosso - reasonable value.
Great service, great food, great atmosphere! Love this place!
Pulcinella has some of the best pizza I have had, whether it be in southern Italy, New York or Washington, DC, where we're from. It has a very inviting ambience and the waiters are great raconteurs. All in all, my wife and I loved eating there and did it twice, on our entry into Calgary and our exit.
