I wanted light ice in my drink, and received it with full ice. Sent it back and received it back with 3/4 full of ice. Not light!! $10 for a drink and I didn’t enjoy it because it was not how I ordered it.
My friend asked for a seedless bun and it came with seeds. So she sent it back and asked for seedless. Instead of changing bun like she asked, they took 10 minutes to remake it. I already had my food.
Kind of a frustrating experience.
Service was slow and food was pricey and nothing special. Fun place if you're a hipster i guess.
I want to start by saying I have Celiac Disease. That, however, has little, if anything to do with this review. I chose this restaurant to eat at prior to a recent concert at LCA because of the gluten free options that were clearly noted on the menu. I was very excited to try the place.
Our server seemed very nice and knowledgeable about the menu, the way that the kitchen protects against cross-contamination, and gave us several of his favorites. Unfortunately, our server also had a table of at least 12 diners not far from where we were seated, and had no apparent backup. The result was poor service - long periods of downtime with our glasses empty, and our having to flag down random employees for assistance.
Let me also note that we were dining at 6:15pm on a busy Friday night because of various things going on downtown. I was surprised that there were as many tables available, but the place still looked busy.
We ordered the lobster bacon fries as an appetizer. When they came out, the fries were clearly stale. They had once been cooked, and were semi-crispy on the outside, but cold on the inside. It's a french fry people - it's not hard to get right. So we sent it back. 15 minutes later we were brought a huge pile of steaming hot fries with bacon, lobster and all the other fixins. Unfortunately, these fries, while piping hot, were undercooked and were like sticks of mushy baked potato. Clearly they were rushed because the first batch was cold, but again, rushing is where quality control is lost. We ate them, stated our displeasure, but weren't really offered anything to remedy the situation.
We both ate the fried chicken due to great reviews. I thought it was quite good, but for $16 you get three small pieces of chicken (not a breast - a tenderloin) with no sides except a small salad of tomatoes and jalapeno peppers. The breading was thick and fell off the chicken.
I wanted it to be great. It was barely mediocre. I would not return.
Very attentive staff. Menu rotates with special cuisine drowning on the chef. Very cool!
Great service and food
I wanted to celebrate my birthday with a girls' karaoke night out. I tried to reserve a karaoke room ahead of time, but was told I needed to have a private event with a minimum of $400 food and drinks purchase in order to reserve. So I was told to just put my name in when I got there. When I showed up and put my name in at 6 pm, the karaoke rooms were already booked until 10 pm by private parties. But then the parties didn't even show right away, and my friends and I had to wait 4 hours until the reservation period was over. By that time, only a few of my friends stuck it out til then. I'm definitely finding a different karaoke spot for the future.
Went here while visiting Detroit for business. We were very impressed. Tasty cocktails, great food. Highly recommend.
Was a tough night a PBS, Tigers and Red Wings both playing at home, New England fans in town, PBS is going to need to step up if they’re going make it in the district. Our waiter did his best but it just didn’t work out, we had reservations and were seated no issue. Got our drinks, placed our order, then we sat, waited and speculated how busy they were. When the food arrived it was cold. Our waiter apologized took it back to replace and this restarted our place in a backed up kitchen. After 25 more minutes of waiting we decided to give it up and left but not before settling a bill for a couple beers. A coke & some warm fries I didn’t even order for $17.49 plus tip! At this point I didn’t have time to argue and it wasn’t the waiter’s fault anyway, so I gave him $21.00 cash and walked, ugh!
Food took over an hour to receive during a not very busy time.
Went for a fun night out. Service was slow and waiter forgot our appetizer. Said he forgot to key it in. Ok. No biggie. He Rarely bothered to come see if we needed drinks etc. After our meal of burgers, a Cuban and a chicken sandwich all served with room temperature fries we went to play some games. I couldn’t find the waiter so asked the bartender to let him know where we were so we could pay the tab. He never came! For an hour we played and never saw him again. No one asked us if we wanted a drink etc. We found our waiter by the kitchen and requested the bill. Our party decided to play darts. I walked up to the bar and proceeded to wait over 5 minutes while 3 bartenders walked around the large bar where only four customers sat. I asked “Can I get 2 beers “ when one of the bartenders walked by me the 4th time to which he replied, “I am doing something “. Are you kidding me? “I’m doing something.” I was incredulous. Because it was a special occasion I decided not to say anything to the manager but I definitely won’t be going back anytime soon. This was a Sunday night! I would think restaurants would be happy for our business but apparently not.
Had one of the most horrible service today, the Waitress never cared about
Nice plan to hang out with a group. I would not go there just to eat a meal. The food is average at best.
Repeat visitors of Punch Bowl Social. Service was off...hostess was a bit rude, one person received the wrong meal. Food was good and will return.
Overall was really cool vibe and good drinks. First times can be tough especially when we came at a very busy time. Food was late and some items cold. Chalk it up to off day. Will definitely be back!
We had a family get together for 2 members who recently retired. It was a very busy night at the restaurant. However, the staff did an absolutely terrific job taking care of our large group. Food came out pretty quickly and was delicious.
It was fun for my 40th birthday! The portions of food were not very large. Tasted great though. Otherwise we had a great time!! Good atmosphere. 😁
I found this listed online as being close to the Detroit Opera House. I made a reservation and ended up arriving a half hour earlier than planned. Even though we were early, they seated us right away. The food was great and they offer special diet choices like gluten-free and vegan. The wait staff was very friendly and the manager checks on tables frequently. It was a very busy time when we were there, but we were in no rush, so I felt the service was timed well. The waitress apologized for our service being slow, but we felt it was fine. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. They also have a small bowling ally, arcade games, billiards and darts. Great social place. I do recommend making reservations since it seems to be a very popular place.
We had a great dining experience! The food was amazing. I had the impossible burger. I was amazed at how good it was. I’ve been a vegetarian for years now. Hands down this is he best burger I’ve ever had. Husband loved his burger as well. Both of the gin drinks on the menu were great. Also the white cake was very good. We cannot wait to go back again!
Our waitress was horrible. She didn’t bring our drinks until after my friend finished eating, and then made some excuse about how they came out at different times. She also never came by our table unless we flagged her down. She told us she was waiting on my friends meal still when my friend had an empty plate she had finished... just ridiculously slow service. I attributed it to busy times, but then it died down and she was still nowhere to be found. Other than service, this place was great.
We visited punch bowl social before a concert at Ford Field. The location was perfect. we made a reservation and get seated right away. The food was very good and the atmosphere is fun.
My group was not very impressed with the food. However the staff, service and atmosphere were awesome. We had a great time and would return for cocktails and hours of fun but probably not a meal.
This restaurant was a great choice to get a bite before a show at the opera house. The service was quick and friendly. My daughter enjoyed the craft strawberry daiquiri she ordered. The drinks are pricey, but worth the price because they are made with fresh ingredients. I am gluten-free and had a good selection of dishes to choose from that were either gluten-free or could be made gluten-free.
Was seated almost 20 minutes after our reservation time, because we were going to a show we ended up feeling very rushed.
The inside is kind of cool but the food which was our main purpose of being there was average at best. Previous mixed reviews made us nervous but we really wanted to try it. Service was acceptable, the best dishes that my party enjoyed were sriracha fries, nachos, chicken and waffles
Would return not for dinner but with a group of friend to enjoy the various activities at this location. Bowling, pool, etc
Punch Bowl Social Detroit was a fun place to have dinner. We had a large party of eight and the service was great. The food was fresh with a good selection.
This place has fun ambiance and what appeared to be a great menu HOWEVER this particular location is POORLY managed therefore unfortunately staff is on)y as good as their headship. Took FOREVER to take our order...bring our beverages which were only a couple at a time..serve our food. When we tried to bowl (3 times due to lengthy meal service) they neglected us in line and gave our lane to another NON WAITING party! After being there 3.5 hrs just to eat and wait after having a 1:45p reservation, we gave up. Manager had to refund our bowling credit and when explaining our plight, he simply shrugged us off and said "Oh well...sorry" and walked away. Never an apology for our trouble, no offering to make it better..NOTHING! First time there, last time there. Party of 6, not impressed. Place is very festive inside but food was burnt and service poorly mismanaged. We were Party of 6 with full reservation July 21at DETROIT...
All activities incurred a separate cost. Server forgot my appetizer and soup. Dishes were dirty. Too expensive for a night out. I would not recommend to friends or family.
Overall food was good. Wings were terrible though. Fun atmosphere.
Very good pre-concert food and drinks. Service was giood. Restaurant had a great vibe
This place is good for younger people, or for groups. The service was very slow, we had to order more drinks way before they were needed just so it could come on time. We had to ask for plates, forks, napkins , all separate, it would of been nice if they thought to bring together. We asked to sit at one of the tables that were partially outside they said they were reserved for 6 or more people, however they were all empty, and stayed that way even when we left, even though we said we would be there an hour we had a concert to go to. Probably will not be back
The food was excellent and the staff was friendly. My whole family liked their food!
Took my sister here to break some bad news to her....😞. But I had food news to counteract it. Although it took our server 10+ minutes to even come over it was a great experience all together. The food was fantastic and we are now considering this place for my sisters bachelorette party
This was a very cool place to eat before a Tigers game! We would love to go back to take part in the arcade and bowling alley ! Very cool atmosphere !!
Knockout! This place was a terrific find after a week in Detroit for a volleyball tournament. The atmosphere was very cool although a bit loud because so open and large. Incredible drink concessions: try The Watermelon Polo Bowl- you'll be very surprised. Biscuits were great. Pimento Cheese shareable was crazy good. I'd skip the lobster fries next time. Everyone loved their meals from chicken and waffles to sloppy joes and the most incredible vegan burger ever: Impossible Burger. Wish we had room for dessert but large portions made us pass. Wish we had found this place sooner, but highly recommend it for Detroit.
Great place! We really enjoyed ourselves will be back. Service was great!
Started off shaky because of host attitude. But once seated and the drinks and food started rolling in everything was better.
Our first time... The hostess was jovial and the service was very good! We will be back.
We decided to give this restaurant a try for a couples date-night. We made reservations and were seated pretty quickly. There was a little confusion as to who our waitress was but it was figured out eventually. Our waitress was friendly and the food was good, however, portions were smaller than expected. Drinks and beer selection were good. There were quite a few celebrations going on there that night and it seems like this place is best suited for that kind of evening. It was too noisy for good conversation and most of the entertainment/game options were taken up by private parties. Not somewhere you could just drop in. Looked like a good bar scene for the 20-30 age group.
It is meant for a younger group. Music was too loud.
