The manager was super accommodating today, as I spoke to somebody on the phone who told me that I was able to bring my dog on the patio, but when I got there I was told differently. This could’ve been an extremely frustrating situation as my girlfriend and I were coming specifically there from out of town and had driven quite some time to get there. I didn’t catch the managers name but not only was he very understanding and put us in a part of the patio that my dog was able to sit under the table, but our server was also extremely helpful. I will be returning (without my dog) As oysters were phenomenal and service was impeccable.
I wish I had a better experience but sadly it was not up to par. The service was absolutely horrid, our waitress was absent minded and seemed uninterested in serving our table. It took 15 mins to get my drink order, and when I finally flagged her down to ask her for something she gave me a head nod and disappeared for another 10mins. We had to ask other staff to clear our plates bc she hadnt returned herself. When she did return she openly admitted that she hated the table we were at because it was awkward for her. The food was the only saving grace. I would have mentioned her lack of service but their was no Manager on the floor to be found. I won't go back.
The food was really good and worth the price. The cocktails not so much... Their mojitos, which where mostly just really pretty crushed ice and garnish you can half eat was the same price at the beautiful scallops.
The scallops took a lot of energy to get here and make where as the drink that was really small and pretty did not.
Amazing food and friendly servers. Sometimes the wait was a bit long even though the restaurant wasn’t full. However we loved our experience and have already recommended it to our friends :)
Love this location for pre-theatre meal.
Servers always attentive and informed.
Food excellent quality.
Best part the music is fabulous and in the background so guests can converse.
Tina was simply amazing! Made my girlfriends birthday. She is very sweet and professional.
Summerlicious excellent menu
We had a very pleasant evening at Pure Spirits. We went there mainly for the oysters which did not disappoint. We had the crisp calamari to start which was lovely and tender in a light tempura batter. The Large shrimp was a little bland in flavour. We had the mussels provencale style but the sauce was not really provencale and lacked in flavour and substance. The wine was good we chose Pinot Grigio. The service was good as was the ambiance. It was nice to sit outside on the terrace as the weather was warm. The location of the restaurant is in an interesting setting, the Distillery District which makes a nice change from the city.
The atmosphere is great, being on the patio in Distillery District and the service was great. The food on the other hand was not the best. The oysters were not shucked properly. A lot of broken shell pieces on top that was not scrapped off. The food was just okay, very bland to be honest (we had mussels, lamb, poke bowl and the cod).
Great patio, fast service and decent food. Would recommend and their sangria was very good.
Nice lunch on the patio and got a shady table as requested with our on-line reservation. The server was very good, the food good but the Sunday Brunch menu is a little disappointing, much prefer the regular lunch menu.
Enjoyable. Good food, nice setting good buzz. Will be back.
Been going for the last 16 or more years. Never disappoints. Everyone in your group despite food aversions, can find something good they can eat. Great staff. Great to go for a romantic dinner or in a big group. Lots to do afterwards, walk around the distillery district.
This would have been my 3rd time there. Service, food and ambiance are on point, one of my favorites in the Distillery area.
Lovely anniversary dinner
Always a great time. GREAT Service. Definitely recommend it to a friend and will be back again. Thank you again.
Sadly just ok. Have been coming since the beginning.
Nice selection of oysters and the fish options were outstanding! Ths mojito left something to be desired. Service was good (not outstanding) , but overall a good dining experience.
Our server, Wesley, is an exemplary server. I was dining with out of town friends and meeting their rambunctious 4 year old daughter for the first time. Wesley was very patient while we navigated the menu and made our decisions. He was always there when we needed him and eager to help. Food was good but became almost secondary to a great sunny day on the patio with friends. Pure Spirits is a great restaurant to bring people visiting Toronto, and our server demonstrated what great hosts Torontonians can be!
Delicious menu. Yellowfin tuna Poke Bowl was perfect. Shared other dishes all great. Wonderful ambiance on the patio. Very courteous and helpful wait staff.
Visiting from NYS. The food ambience and service was excellent. I had the best Caesar salad I've ever had in my life!
Great as usual
Very good food and while all the staff was warm and inviting our server was exceptional.
We have been to this restaurant many times and it never fails to please. The food is always delicious.
I used to love going to Pure Spirits. I would always get the same thing: the Tuna Niçoise salad. This last time (June 11) was so disappointing.
Firstly I waited 25 minutes to get a Caesar despite the restaurant being only half-full. My salad was horrible. It was a big pile of over-dressed, limp spring mix greens with slices of tuna on top. There were also strange slices of pickled herring or other whitefish which was not supposed to be in the salad according to the ingredients listed. It did not go in the dish at all. The tuna was good is the only positive of the salad. There were huge chunks of underipe tomatoes with cores present.
I asked a passing server where the potatoes where. She wasn't even aware the salad had potatoes in it! After I ate through the big pile of lettuce, I found one half of a fingerling potato, a bunch of minced celery and minced red onion. These were supposed to have been the toppings for the salad--previously hidden under the lettuce. This salad was $28.95 and what I received did not look or taste like the description or even my previous experience.
My server did not visit my table at any time except when my plate was empty to ask how I found my dinner. So I had no opportunity for feedback.
Pure Spirits is where I go when I want to have a treat. I recommend it to friends. Not anymore. Too bad it cost me $78.00 to learn my lesson.
The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. I will definitely eat here again when I next visit Toronto.
I have been to this restaurant with friends and with family many times over the last 4 years and have always been happy and satisfied upon leaving.
Excellent food, preparation, presentation, service and atmosphere.
Pure Spirits has been a favorite venue for us for over a decade. Favorite part were the excellent oysters!!
Hopefully the umbrellas or canopy will be set out on the patio soon... it was quite a sunny and warm spring day.
Amazing seafood meal. I would normally assume this restaurant would be a tourist trap but it was actually beautifully crafted seafood. We had the Thursday special-boullibaise for two. Appetizers included east and west coast oysters and fried smelts. Delicious. Good wine pairing suggestions from the waiter. We left full and satisfied.
4 out 6 of our lunches were way too salty. 1 had to be sent back.
We come often and haven't had this issue in the past.
never disappoints! my favourite place to eat when i’m in toronto no matter what. amazing food and the staff are always friendly!
A very comfortable evening with excellent, fresh fish and seafood options. Service was friendly and present when needed but left us plenty of time to talk. The only thung I would change is the fries. The thin Provencal-style fries would go much better with mussels and other seafood, in my opinion.
Good spot before Soulpepper Theatre. My friend had great chicken dish. I had the seafood pasta - very little seafood. Not value for money.
Our server was excellent as was the food.
Found it a little noisey but that could be I’m getting old.
Would definitely recommend to friends.
Food was amazing, we had scallops and steak. Everything was cooked perfectly. we were seated near the back near the bathroom so lots of traffic. Towards the end of the meal the staff kept looking at us and it felt that we were being a bit rushed
Appetizers too salty Entries were well presented and great tasting Service was excellent Highly recommend
We had early reservations the only table they had to offer us apparently was right by the door! What is the purpose of having a reservation? We asked if we could be moved the restaurant wasn’t even half full, the person managing the desk stated the rest were reserved! And when our reservation came in she squeezed us in! First off the complete time during our time there maybe 2 couples came in! Secondly, if you were squeezing people in then you shouldn’t have it available on open table. You are not a low end restaurant. One should be able to enjoy their meal without the hustle and bustle of the activities and conversations of front end staff. I would totally understand if we were a walk in but we had reservations and had you moved us to another table that was apparently reserved, would they have known? We would of most likely of been done before they arrived! In saying this our server was good , food was alright interesting salad a little too much oil. Hubby enjoyed the muscles , unusual for me no dessert.
Fabulous dining experience. Amazing EAST COAST Oysters too.
