Fantastic food and service! Always love going there!
Food was good - however the wine is highly overpriced for the quality ($18+ per glass)..much better options in the city for that price with better ambience. Service was excellent though!
Excellent casual restaurant with great food and great service
The servers were extremely pleasant and helpful. ........................................................................................................................................................
Fabulous dinner on our date night. We loved the Malpeque Oysters that were great and well presented with fresh horseradish and 3 sauces. The Traditional Provençal Mussels had nicely balanced white wine sauce great for dipping bread in. The 6oz Black Angus Tenderloin was a good size and was cooked to perfection a medium rare. We greatly appreciated the generous portion and variety of the Roasted veggies.
They have a good selection of wine by the bottle or glass. We had a St. Clair Sauvignon Blanc and an Italian Valpolicella, Fumanelli, both well balanced and well mated to the meal.
Service was fantastic with a knowledgeable and friendly server Julia and we also appreciated the personal attention the General Manager Matthew gave us and other guest. Highly recommend.
We ordered 2 dozen oysters (Malpeques) & they were small & not meaty at all. Very disappointing!!. If we were paying a buck a shuck, as on Tuesdays, maybe we would have thought "get what you pay for" ....
The rest of the food was fine but not as good as it could be for the price. Think the menu needs some tweaking.
For anyone who enjoys oysters and seafood, Pure Spirits is great! My date and I shared a dozen oysters, Squid Ink Linguine with clams and shrimp and Tuna Poke. All delicious and affordable! Also, because it's nestled in the Distillery District, you can enjoy the Xmas Market in the winter and the cute shops in that area. Perfect for a date night or outing with friends and colleagues!
Birthday with awesome service and good food!!
Wow! Great food, great service, great ambiance! I'd go back tomorrow for more!
Have eaten here usually every 6 months and every time I am impressed with the service. The service here can match any restaurant. They provide insight to both wine and food options, while continually trying to ensure your experience is a memorable one.
We had made a reservation during a busy time (Christmas Market) yet when we arrived the manager ensured we had desired seating, only to check in later on our experience.
I wish we lived closer so I could go more often.
Thank you to the staff.
Went for the Malpeque oysters (most popular oyster about) ….. out of stock : ( , and its an oyster bar) . They did comp me a discount on the higher priced oysters but it did take effort. All in all a good place - will be back
We had such a lovely evening. The food was outstanding. My husband had the steak which melted in his mouth - so good - and I had the salmon which was delicious! Great service.
Super friendly service and delicious food in a cozy fun atmosphere in one of the coolest neighbourhoods anywhere! A really good restaurant in a destination neighbourhood!
Love it, great food, great location, nice atmosphere, can’t wait to go back.
Excellent restaurant! Very good menu selections that are a little different from a lot of other comparable places. Prices are reasonable. Our waiter made our night!!
Excellent service. All requests done as requested.
Brilliant restaurant. Great food and service.
Nothing to complain about at this fantastic restaurant! Great service, atmosphere and amazing tasting food! Highly recommend a visit to anyone considering it.
We live in the Distillery District and had company for the weekend. I made a reservation here simply for the convenience of the location. All six of us were thrilled with the restaurant -- the ambiance, the service, the food. I have never been out for dinner where people couldn't stop raving about how delicious the food was. The staff was very attentive and accommodating - brought those of us who are skeptical about raw oysters a sample and they were delicious. We had a visit from the chef after dinner and he was so happy to hear our well deserved praise. I can't say anything negative about our experience. It's pricey but for once I felt the food and experience were 100% worthy of the money we spent.
Pre theatre dinner.
The food and service was much improved from our last visit early in the fall.
Mussels were average, beer selection good, Tokyo Chowder was fabulous and the highlight of the night. Fun part of town to walk around
This was our family’s second visit. We came back because our son (age 19) loved it so much the first time (as did we). Came back with our daughter (age 21) and we had an wonderful evening/dinner. Oysters, appetizers, entrees and dessert - all outstanding. We’ll be back!
Very good food, speedy service, great atmosphere. Would definitely go back
I love the place, food is nice, service good , oyster fresh
The staff were very friendly and the food was amazing
Will definitely visit again
A great place to get together for a meal and catch up with family or friends. The cocktails are delicious and in the warm weather the patio is a wonderful. O way to relax. The wait staff are truly professional and go the extra mile to serve. Oh - did I mention the warm bread that comes in plentiful supply? Delicious!
Pure Spirits is my and my husband’s favourite restaurant. It’s where we go for every special occasion; including our one year anniversary this past Saturday. It was also where we dined the night he proposed to me so it holds a special place in our hearts. We LOVE the oysters and get them every time we go. The service is always fabulous and the hostesses are very kind and accommodating.
Always great food!
Good food, service was ‘ok’. We’d visit again.
Good selection of oysters.
Great food and ambiance
Always a pleasure to visit
We went for buck a shuck night and my girlfriend and I waited 33 minutes for our first order of a dozen oysters to come to our table. Servers were far too busy to provide necessary service. We waited 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged our table, 5 minutes for a server to come and take a drink order, and 15 minutes for that drink to get to us. We then ordered a dozen oysters which we didn’t receive for another 33 minutes. Our drinks sat empty on our table as servers speed-walked by us. In over an hour and 20 minutes we managed to eat 6 oysters each and our second round of drinks got to us while we were paying our bill. We left to go eat somewhere else.
Love the place and miss the food but need to save the money first! Will be back soon
Great ambiance. Waitress Cheyenne and Manager Mathew went out of their way to ensure a memorable birthday experience for my 5 year old grandson and both of our birthdays. Little did they know this was the night before a very major surgery at Sick Kids. Their positivity paved the way to a successful outcome. Thank you for great dining experience from which Elliot proclaimed best restaurant in Toronto. Why? Best bread with melted butter.
Food was undercooked. Staff were not interested in working and creating an experience
Food was good but everything we did want to order was out. Which is upsetting because you look forward to it and then when you order it you’re told there is no more. Should have told us right away what is sold out
Although our server was very friendly and welcoming, it took an unusually long time to get our appetizers and mains once ordered. Since we were there for theatre, we were conscious of the time. Two of us ordered the salads, one with supposedly grilled chicken and the other with shrimp. The chicken was square pieces pre-frozen something although the shrimp looked freshly grilled - both were light on ingredients for a chopped salad. the appetizers were good although the calamari was overcooked. Not impressed.
We have dined here before and have always been pleased with the food and service but I think they are cutting back. We were not offered bread for the table and, I ordered a Caesar Salad with the added option of a chicken breast for $8. I counted 6 tiny pieces of chicken about the size of my pinky finger nail - hardly a chicken breast. They need to change the menu description to small pieces of chicken and reduce the price to $1. Also they did not have the dessert my friends ordered and did not offer an alternative. We were disappointed.
Our server Darren was awesome. The food was fabulous. Can’t wait to come back.
