What is with the decor of the place? It was my first and last time here.
The seats are extremely damaged. The leather booth seat was so awkward to sit on cause it has extremely large tears in them. I don’t know what happened to the decor of this place 😅
Fried chicken was meh, I did like the cha siu bow though
Food was pretty good overall but some lacked the quality for the price they charge. For example the jerk octopus was overall great but was not very warm and was a bit damp.
Fabulous spot for an indulgent dinner with colleagues. Food was outstanding, we shared everything and ate through most of the menu. Duck is definitely a highlight for a group, would book again for any occasion.
Food was fast and delicious. Server and host were very friendly and professional.
Weird atmosphere. A cold frat-boy vibe with pop music playing. Maybe it's a place for students and non locals to check out.
Our table for our reservation was not ready, and there was a back log of people waiting to be seated. We didn't end up getting our reserved seat as it didn't become available while we stood in the entrance. We ended up sitting at the bar area behind a post. Perhaps this contributed to the bad vibes being so close to the line ups of people also waiting for their tables. It was a lot of money to spend to be stuck at a small bar table trying to eat family style.
We were not offered anything for the long wait and for giving up our reserved seat.
Unreal. Eric you're the man -awesome dinner, awesome night.
Fantastic. modern take on traditional Chinese fare. Every aspect of this meal was delicious, with a cool room and great service. Highly recommended.
The French Onion Spring Rolls and CSBs were out of this world. If you can only order 2 things, 100% buy these!
Food wasn’t that great- wasn’t worth the money.
Food was incredible.
It’s my second visit …..excellent food n service.
Hopefully there’s lunch in future.
Music a little too loud.
This our second time enjoying the delicious entree’s. Each cocktail is curated with delicious outcome. I have dreams about the fried chicken!
Great Service. Very Accommodating. The roasted duck with the steamed baos was incredible. Eric Chong presents a very unique and delicious menu. Go check it out!
Amazing as always. Fantastic food and the best service and experience.
Food was EXCELLENT ! SERVICE was FANTASTIC ! The wagyu beef is a MUST order, might be pricy for some but it's worth every penny and the sauce accommodate with the beef is nice too but don't need it.
Peking duck was great but I wish it could have included the lettuce wrap too. The portion of the bao that comes with the Peking duck is enough to accommodate the amount of meat. I hope "Eric" will consider including lettuce with the dish.
We ordered: CSB, GRANDPA’S FUN GUO, HOKKAIDO SCALLOP SIU MAI, LO BAK GO, SPICY CUCUMBER SALAD, WOK-FRIED GAI LAN, POPCORN SHRIMP, JERK OCTOPUS, WAGYU RIB CAP, BEST DUCK IN THE CITY, MATCHA LAVA CAKE, PARIS-BREST, and ICE CREAM.
All the items are to each it own taste, their are a couple of dishes I dislike but my guests love them. However, we are agreed that the LO BAK GO was too soggy and that was the ONLY dish that wasn't up to the standard.
Overall, it was an awesome experienced. Thank you to all the workers !
We sat by the open kitchen and saw everything being made to order right before our eyes. We got the chance to get a feel of the place before it got filled up…it’s one of those places where you look up, down, right, and left. The place was spacious, warm, and cosy while looking refined and modern. Service was brilliant, food was amazing, but would like to see more variety in the appetizers.
Amazing food, excellent service with staff mindful of us having a 2 year old with us. Cannot recommend enough
Great experience and delicious food. Service was lovely and attentive. Can't wait to come back!
Nice mix of menu options to accmmodate almost any palate/rpreference. Lovely flavours and the service is outstanding!
Best Chinese food I have ever had. Absolutely incredible
Amazing restaurant! Fantastic food and atmosphere! Staff were some of the most professional in the city! Our server was so helpful with choices of meals. We were seated 10-15 mins late and didn’t think anything of it/ weren’t bothered because that seems to be normal service in Toronto restaurants but the staff here went over and above to express their apologies to us which we thought was really nice of them and just showed how much they care about their customers overall experience. Highly recommend this restaurant on all levels, you won’t be disappointed :)
The service was absolutely outstanding. The food was extremely flavourful as well
Nice menu variety, lots of tasty options. I enjoyed the french onion spring rolls and spicy cucumber salad in particular. I might have missed it but I wish they offered sake options as well.
Good atmosphere ( but music can be loud if you want to talk a lot)
Duck very tasty
It's been a couple of years since I've been here, and the food and cocktails remain outstanding.
Always a great experience there. Lots of great food and cocktails.
Everything we ordered was amazing! (And we ordered A LOT) The service was also amazing - friendly and helpful. Seeing Eric Chong out and about was especially exciting. Loved the experience and we'll all be returning soon.
The food was amazing! We had about four dim sum plates and two small plates, and it was plenty of food for three of us. The service was good and the food all came out pretty quickly.
Excellent food and service! Will definitely come back! Our server paid great attention to detail. We said we were in a bit of a rush (pregame dinner) and he ensured the food came out timely yet still appropriately coursed! We are in the industry and this was huge for us!
Only feedback is Decor could be updated/elevated to up the vibe.
Best restaurant in Toronto!!
The food, staff and atmosphere was the best experience ever.
Had an amazing time with family and friends for my birthday!!
Would recommend it to anyone looking to for an explosive dine-in experience!!
Peking duck was incredible. Well worth the reservation. A bit much for 2 people but so damn good.
Service was fantastic even though it was turning into a busy night. The kalbi beef bao blew everything else out of the water so we got an additional order. The pinot grigio (fontamara, in case it changes) was also incredible. We drove in from Chicago but upon return to Toronto, would love to go again.
Excellent food at reasonable prices. Interesting concept to categorize menu items by size and food type. Staff were very helpful in making food and beverage choices. Very good and interesting cocktails---we really liked Hush and Wonder. Intriguing décor.
Amazing vibes coupled with amazingly creative Dim Sum! R&D is the perfect place for a mind-opening Asian (mostly Hong Kong food) cuisine dining experience.
Loved the food. Nice ambiance more casual than photo’s depict, service was ok considering they may have been short staffed due to COVID.
The service was very good. Our server was very attentive and was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was outstanding, my girlfriend isnt a very big fan of Asian cuisine it she enjoyed every dish we had. The only thing I wasn’t happy about was the 35 dollar corkage fee. Overall it was a great experience!!
My son chose the restaurant based on the owners, I was excited to go based on the menu and neither of us were disappointed. My son was very happy that Eric, one of the owners, spoke to us at the end of the night, really made it a great experience.
I love everything about this restaurant and I’ve never had a bad exoerience
Food was great! Had to order the Peking duck 24 hours in advance and was very happy we did. The duck was excellent!
Always a great experience at R&D, I’ve tried quite a few things on the food and drink menu, and they’ve always been great!
Quelle belle découverte! Tout était parfait. Merci
