Wanted to try 156 Cumberland out based on reviews/Michelin recommendation. It was my wife's birthday (as newlyweds) so I was hoping to make it a little unique/special and had made a reservation here - adding a note to the restaurant see if they'd be able to offer us good accommodation/a special dessert at the end to celebrate her birthday there, to which I was given a response of 'no problem, see us there'. Upon arrival we were greeted but was placed at the very back of the restaurant right next to the washrooms. We were also seated near a group of individuals that were obnoxiously loud so the ambiance/overall environment was just noisy. The servers however were very courteous and a pleasure to speak with, but overall the food was just average (ie. scallops) to above average (would recommend the Mushroom Jook). After our main meals, I was hoping to get an indicator of a small cake/dessert to be given to my wife, as I saw on another table there was something provided (a cake with sparklers) during our meal, but unfortunately nothing came about for us - which was disappointing. As such, we just asked for the bill and went to a nearby place for dessert/cake afterwards. For the value, it is comparable to other Korean restaurants we've been, and the overall service was good, but the downfalls on other aspects has us searching for more.

Excellent staff, enjoyed the two starters and one mid course. Excellent modern twist on Korean food. Not a negative, but the cocktails did not quite match the level of the food, I was expecting something with a bit more zing. I would definitely recommend overall.

Every dish was amazing! Very small portions which I didn’t mind, but the short rib platter was large and filling. I like how we were a group of 3 and they weee able to accommodate and add an extra beef tartare and chicken wing.

Food was good but not as great as it was hyped by Michelin and their staff (which was really nice btw) Their appetizers were decent. Best thing we had was the beef short ribs. Don't spend too much on the sides, order light and keep the steaks as the main highlight.

I went with my boyfriend for his birthday. They were friendly, extremely helpful with the menu, and even accommodated my request for a b birthday candle in his dessert. And the food was delicious!

Our first time dining here and for our anniversary celebration we decided to try this restaurant (reserved via OpenTable) due to their glowing reviews. The food were delicious and we enjoyed each and every dish. However, we were shocked and at a disbelief that during our last course - we were asked to finish our meal as soon possible to accommodate other guests. (EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL) Upon entering the restaurant, we were informed that we would have 1.5 hours to finish our meal to which we agreed. Our two appetizers and cocktails arrived fairly quickly but waited for over 40 mins for our main courses to arrive. Just when were finishing off our last course, the server asked us to eat fast because there were guests waiting. Mind you, the restaurant was NOT busy and our 1.5 hours time limit was NOT over. There were plenty of empty tables beside us including the tables in the patio and yet we were asked to finish our meal quickly. To conclude, this has been a very disappointing experience. I’m not sure how this restaurant received a Michelin guide with such poor service but we will not be returning nor recommending this restaurant to anyone.

We had such an amazing experience here. The food and service were beyond expectations. They noticed their was a pescatarian in our party and saved the last Mackerel so they could have an entree as well, which is beyond thoughtful. Every detail was flawless, loved it.

We got the fish on avocado mousse, squid noodles, crispy rice paper with roe and the steak. It was all so well presented and amazing taste. Especially the steak and the squid noodles.

PHENOMENAL! The perfect word to describe a meal at 156 Cumberland. From a friendly greeting upon entry all the way through to the well wishes and thanks on our way out everything about 156 was… well, phenomenal! As it was our first time dining at 156 we asked the lovely Grace for some advice on the menu and we are so glad we did! We went with a few of the crowd favourites and opted for the daily special also. (The power of a pic on the gram worked! It was too pretty a dish to pass up!) Starting with the beef tartare, served up unlike anywhere else! Followed by another house fave, the stuffed chicken wings! By far the best chicken wing I’ve had! The special of the day followed, the Hiramasa tartare, unbelievably light and delicious! (and almost too pretty to eat!) The mains followed. The mushroom jook with summer truffle was out of this world good. First time having jook, and it won’t be the last time. We were rather hungry, so we went with the beef short rib with all the fixings to finish. We enjoyed that more than words can state. So flavourful! With just barely enough room for dessert, we opted to share the roasted brown rice ice cream. A perfect end! Regrettably we did not partake of any wine, but their cocktails were delightful! I would highly recommend everyone give 156 Cumberland a try! I couldn’t imagine anyone being disappointed with a meal there! Many thanks to all the FOH and BOH people for an amazing evening!

Excellent food with caring service. A bit of a chilly evening and my family and I were the only ones at the patio. But the staff came regularly to check on us. Second times in two weeks and will definitely come again!

Very slow service....Service is soso...Took ages to serve food. Ordered dessert and waited 20 minutes (just a scoop of ice cream). Never come, then ask to cancel...no apologist or explanation from server... Condiments with the main course are cheap and tasted soso. Overall, disappointed. Not deserve the Michelin Bib Gourmet.

Amazing Korean Michelin star restaurant. Menu was limited so we pretty much ordered almost everything on the menu. Soju was smooth and the cocktails were delicious! Was an great experience but quite pricey! Disappointment that there was no kimchi type dish but would totally return!
