So expensive for what it is! We had two kids meals which we re okay - although really just a sliced ciabatta with tomato sauce and cheese for the main so not really a ‘pizza’. The adults mains were so expensive - we opted for the skewers which weren’t anything special at all. Wine was also pricey and cheaper to get two 125mls than a 250ml which was odd. Wouldn’t recommend….. (service was good fine though).

Children's garlic bread and pasta were tasteless. Classic pizzas were like supermarket frozen pizza and had too much cheese which had not been cooked for long enough. Service is slow. The below average food is not reflected in the over inflated prices.

Lovely setting and nice staff but the food was really disappointing for the price. Only two tables dining on a Sunday bank holiday

The restaurant itself is large and nicely furnished but….. The atmosphere was totally flat - the 3 occupied tables were all against one wall and we felt as if we were not very welcome. The menu choices were very few and very expensive. Our ‘artisan bread’ was 2 pieces of toast and 2 white rolls with a balsamic and oil dip. We had to ask for side plates and butter. We both chose the ‘chicken supreme’ which was 2 pieces of very dry chicken, lots of chips (which actually tasted good), some limp lettuce and a slice of mushroom. We asked if it came with a sauce thinking it would be creamy one but were told that it didn’t come with one but could pay £2.50 each for one. We chose a red wine jus which came in the tiniest of jugs with a watery gravy in it. We also asked for a side dish of seasonal vegetables (thinking broccoli etc. ) but which ended up as a bowl of over cooked dices of something. After a few mouthfuls we couldn’t eat the rest as it was so unappetising. We complained and to give the staff credit we were not charged for the main meal - only the bottle of wine and the bread. This occasion was our wedding anniversary and we were so very disappointed with the whole experience. We will definitely not be going back there again.

For the price I was really disappointed. Food was nice. But nothing special. Steak was a bit overcooked as was the chicken. My son really enjoyed the fish bouillabaisse though. Starters were again nice but over priced. Wine was however excellent. Waiting staff were a bit inattentive. Had to ask twice for the wine menu and when I highlighted that my child’s glass had a long chip in it, it was taken away but not replaced. Staff often had heads down rather than looking around to see if they were needed and I did not feel I could call out as the place was so quiet with only 3 tables being served. Overall disappointed but food was fine and excellent wine.

I booked the table while on my way to the hotel and we were running late due to poor weather conditions, I was staying in the hotel too and told reception we were running late. Arrived 10 minutes after our original seating time and the chef had cleaned up and closed the kitchen so although the restaurant sent me confirmations to say I was seated and have asked me to review I’m not sure how I can seeing as they couldn’t keep the kitchen open until passed 8.40pm.

IOW tomatoes was actually half a standard tomato and the buttermilk chicken was a raw KFC still with blood visible.

Does the basics well but an attempt at curried vegetables was dreadful! Sent it back and ordered fish and chips. Burger was excellent as were the waiting staff

I used this place for business meetings quite a bit before the pandemic, although the booking system has changed, you can't just "drop in" the facilities are just as comfortable as they always were. Food, service and setting all beautiful.

Burger undercooked, lamp a little tough but tasty. Fish was perfectly cooked and delicious. But for the price point, certainly not worth the amount spent. Would have paid half. But at the time, it was the only restaurant with seating.

Terrible food, terrible service. Grilled chicken was actually fried! Had better steak from Aldi! I wanted to make a complaint there and then however my husband was too embarrassed so we settled the bell and went elsewhere for dessert. I really begrudged paying the £180 bill!!!! The only nice thing was the wine! Had to serve out our own knives and forks that was just plonked on the table. How on earth did this restaurant get two AA rosettes?? Will not be returning!!

This restaurant disguised the fact that it is the restaurant of the Forest Lodge Hotel,Lyndfield. The Restaurant had been moved into a much bigger room with ZERO ambience, there were just 2 other diners, the food was execrable; my wife’s starter was a few peas with a blob of goats cheese, and mine was braised squid which was appalling, both were sent back as they were stone cold. We ordered steaks very rare and medium rare, they arrived medium and medium rare, we couldn’t be bothered to send them back, the one saving grace was the triple cooked chips which were very good. All in all an appalling experience.
