Excellent haloumi salad and eggs benny...delicious galette for dessert. Food was very slow (45 minutes to come) but dessert was on the house. Coffee a bit bitter...perhaps too long on heat...
Great Happy Hour Food and Drinks!
Yummy and good value.
not enough shade outside. Suggest more umbrellas or gazebos
It’s lovely to eat out on the patio. My beef short rib was so flavourful with a rich sauce. My partner’s salmon cooked perfectly. My carrot cake hit the spot and my partner’s macha tart had a crunchy base. Our server was attentive and warm. Well worth the cost.
I made a reservation for a birthday and it went unaddressed. They did honor the patio request But given this they didn’t even save us a table with umbrella which was necessary today. Every time I eat here the garlic in my meal is so overwhelming even after brushing it doesn’t go away. There are a lot of restaurants out there. I hope they don’t miss this opportunity given the great location and get these kinks sorted out.
This is a very average patio. Poor lighting. The space could have a lot of potential for beautiful ambiance and lighting as their picture shows on Instagram, but the reality is not the case. The food was very average considering the price point.
Great service and food. Excellent atmosphere. Would not hesitate to come back.
Low score is only because of the current construction in the area. Patio was very loud and dusty. Food was amazing though. Will be back once construction is over.
Happy Hour bites and sauvignon blanc were delicious and great attention by multiple servers. A great experience.
We enjoyed the wonderful patio experience and our waiter was excellent also. Great service. Thank you
Very pleasant experience. Visit to the exhibits in the art gallery prior to lunch. The food was very good, the staff were excellent, efficient and effective as well as personable. The venue is lovely and I can’t wait to get back for happy hour.
Beautiful patio!! Good food!
The patio is the place to dine this summer! I ordered the foie gras and braised beef and it was absolutely delicious and I’m still drooling at the thought of it. The charcuterie board didn’t include enough food for the price however. Drinks were tasty with fun striped paper straws. Service was great and waiters were kind. I’d definitely return!
Great set up! I went for happy hour and the individual charcuterie board and the miso cauliflower we’re both delish! Wonderful prices for the food you get. I’d definitely go back
Good food and service. Great view of the city. Would not hesitate to recommend.
The location is great. right in the heart of the city. They have revamped the menu. lots of veg options. lovely big patio. Decent happy hour wine. The only negative is the music. They used to have jazz musicians/music, which made it more classy. Now they have hiphop style. Really detracts from the experience. You can go literally anywhere for that music but very few places for jazz, especially live
i had the mushroom soup side and the crudite (? hope i spelt that right but highly doubt it, i apologize). twas very good. the soup was rich and creamy (as mushroom soup should be). maybe bring some truffle oil, i think that would complement it well. crudite: a good blend of tangy, sweet and other for the vegetables, but if it sounds like it wouldn’t fit, the fuchsia (sun dried tomatoes, i think the menu said) hummus tied it altogether.
we ate outside on the padio and i’m so glad we did. i like listening to traffic and skateboarders and people who feel comfortable using their outside voices. aille, when i go back, i definitely want to save room for dessert and try those side of potatoes.
heads up! 15% gratuity is automatically included, while taxes aren’t.
ps the way to the bathrooms are cool, very what you would expect of a bistro inside an art gallery. loos themselves were fine, nothing special.
Despite making reservations outdoor patio very empty. Happy hour drinks are not great but food is good. Some more greenery and nice low sounding jazz rather than techno would make it more ambient and aesthetic. I do appreciate your being open in difficult times but leaving all those outdoor seats empty I just don’t understand.
I've been going to the art gallery cafe before the renovations for years and have gone a few times since it opened. I considered this the best patio in the city, however, it's gone downhill and I really want this place to do well to ensure it stays open. Sure they've added new furniture and changed the menu but $15 cocktails are steep and the host was so strict that we asked if we could move tables (giving up a table of 4 and being asked to move to a table of 2, for their own benefit) as it was in the shade and she said no it was reserved. We ended up being there for 2 hours after our request and that table remained empty. Keep in mind, it is an art gallery patio, it was chill, let's keep it chill, don't turn it into some snooty establishment. The prices on the menu should be reconsidered on some of the items as it's too high.
Love the patio, the food, the service, the atmosphere. Sophisticated and yet simple, like a mirage in the middle of downtown Vancouver.
Absolute hidden gem! 1931 gallery bistros patio is a sunny sanctuary escape from the hustle and bustle or downtown. The food was delicious and service will great , I’ll definitely be back soon !
This was one of the worst restaurant experiences we have had. Our server took over 20 minutes to bring our drinks, left dirty plates on the table and hardly came to check on how we were doing. Our food took over an over to come out and when it did the portions were extremely small for the price you have them at. I don’t usually complain but this was really disappointing.
It was great but when we first got there it took 30 minutes for someone to take our drink order and no one ever really checked in on us or ever asked if we needed anything.
Server spoke little and was far from attentive. Also allowing patrons to go barefoot did not help the ambience
Our service was excellent. The food was very good. The beef tartare was delicious but weird with the barbecue chips. Otherwise it was very good and a lovely place to sit!
Great food. Wonderful service. Great patio.
The quality of the food was amazing!
Drinks are a bit pricey, but overall a great experience
incredibly disappointing. the staff did not recognize my reservation, staff were poorly trained and did not know items on the menu, service was not timely and we could go a half-hour without interacting with a server unless we flagged one down. Would not return .
The outside patio is especially sweet, all the more so in the time of COVID.
Service was just mediocre, I had to flag the server down several times.
Do not by any means order the Ceasar Salad.. I clearly missed the description of "grilled" romaine... not successful think wilted charred lettuce
Salad w chicken was 26$ chicken was unappealing and putting 2 strips of bacon on my salad is just wrong.
I should have sent it back the minute it arrived. Had the chocolate ganache pretty tasty but maybe because I was hungry!
I would possibly go back for a drink...no food if thats possible.. Couch /table area is nice.
Unfortunately, we didn’t stay after being seated so I can’t comment on the food or drinks.
I arrived first and was seated at a table for two on the patio (I had reserved a table for two, outside)- one chair, one seat on the cement bench.
The patio has a very limited amount of umbrellas- and my table was one without.
Way too hot to sit without any shade. Not sure why, with a patio the size that it is, there are so few umbrellas?
The cement bench had no cushion- something the server that sat me probably should have noticed. I had to ask the table next to mine if I could take one they weren’t using.
I waited for my friend to arrive for about ten minutes- no one came by to acknowledge me, see if I wanted a drink, tell me about the happy hour specials....
A server did go to two tables that were seated after me, and to the table next to me, but did not come to mine.
Once my friend arrived we made the decision to go elsewhere.
Disappointed in that I was looking forward to a leisurely few hours on the patio I’ve been to and enjoyed so many times before (when the space was occupied by the previous cafe). Disappointing experience overall.
Excellent food, service and ambiance. Will definitely return!
The host was very friendly and professional. Happy hour was reasonable, food was delicious, atmospherewas relaxing. Will be returning in the future.
The service was not good ! My husbands food never arrived....we think there was not enough staff !
My food was very different but it was surprisingly good ....
Unfortunately, it wasn’t a good experience. Beautiful patio but service and food quality was very poor for what they charge. Would only come for a drink, no more.
Had high expectations going here and it did not meet my expectations at all. It took over 10 minutes to be served water upon being seated. The server had "misheard" my order and instead of bringing 2 avocado toast he brought one. The avocado toast was gross. On top of the disappointing service and meal, they charge a COVID surcharge as their gratuity so I couldn't even opt out of not tipping for the horrible experience.
Gorgeous setting and possibly best happy hour food in town.
Food was excellent and the outdoor patio is lovely. The garden isn't as lush and beautiful as it used to be but nice nonetheless. With the southern exposure, more umbrellas would make seating more comfortable. Music overly repetitive, but other than that, a very enjoyable brunch.
This is a great patio in a great location. Food is nice and service is friendly.
It was a beautiful setting, with tasty dishes. Nice staff. I will return again!!
