   Food came out cold and soggy. Had to send it back. The eggs were cold and salmon was soggy.

   Minimalist environment giving just a step up from a cafeteria for the inside space. The outdoor space has much more atmosphere. Wait staff was superb.

   The food itself was excellent, each dish memorable and delicious. We appreciated the fact that our server prepared our bills separately, without being asked. He was also very patient, we took ages to decide on our orders

   The service, food and location were great! Their fancy Caesars though need a bit more work. They look lovely but they don’t taste great. Brine or salt or something is missing that could make these Caesars excellent.

   April I had s fabulous meal of a Bidon burger and truffle potatoes on a toasted sesame Brioche bun. I returned to have again and was so disappointed. Amazing square potatoes were gone as was bun. It was not toasted and had thousand island dressing which made bun soggy. Wait time was very long. I will not ever be returning.

   My server was fantastic. Very friendly and efficient. He really made me feel comfortable and not rushed at all. It was a perfect end after browsing the museum!

   We were six women who hadn't been all together for years. The service was excellent and we weren't rushed at all - we ended up staying for 2.5 hours. Such a pleasant change to be able to carry on a conversation in a quiet restaurant. The food was delicious, the setting is lovely.

    Been eyeing the food here for a while. Pics looks amazing. Finally made it and it was for our daughter's 19th bday. Very relaxed atmosphere as well as service. No pressure and super chill. Unfortunately the food was only 'ok'. Everything was cold and looked sad. Maybe bad lighting, who knows. The plus is that they gifted a cake for my daughter's bday which was unexpected and a pleasant surprise.

    The server was very condescending and wasn't friendly at all. It took us 45 minutes to get our food after ordering and by the time we got our food, it was cold. The server was also very pushy with us ordering more drinks even though it was clear we were not interested. I wouldn't come back.

    Would have been nice to know ahead of time before seating that there would be an 18% gratuity charge. This would have been fine but service was not good. The waitress we had seemed like she really didn’t want to be there and did not have a friendly demeanour. When we were still thinking on items on the menu or dessert, it felt like she wanted us to hurry up. It would have been nice if she just asked if we need more time instead of being as pushy as was with a curt “is it a yes or a no?” I feel like it really would not hurt for her to just smile. Overall food was fine but the entire occasion was damped but the attitude of the server. I definitely did not want to tip 18% but didn’t have a choice, and wasn’t told ahead of time until it was time for the bill. I don’t really recommend this place because there are many others that have better service for the price.

    The outdoor patio is a ten! When it's warm and sunny, it's one of the best patio in the city. Feels like Europe with the art gallery columns as the background. Food is reasonably priced for this type of environment.

    We booked the growing Freedom High Tea as it showed up as an available option on OpenTable. When we got there, we were informed that the service was no longer available. I understand that this may not have been the Bistro's fault, but they didn't offer any kind words to acknowledge the inconvenience or our disappointment. My mother, whom I was treating for Mother's Day, was already hungry so we decided to stay and just order from the regular menu. After we have decided, we tried to catch the staff's' attention but no one would come to the table. The place was not terribly busy at that point (there was time for chit-chat from a couple people behind the counter near where we sat) and given that we were going to give the place a chance despite the slip-up, some effort would be made on the Bistro's part to be attentive. But we were ignored and it seems that they are keen not to meet my eye contact so we just left without ordering anything. It was such an appalling experience. I had the sense that the staff just wanted us to go away and didn't want to make an effort to give us an enjoyable experience even though we were determined to have a great time at that place. I didn't expect such a treatment from a place affiliated with an esteemed art gallery.

    While I enjoyed this meal, I have a problem with the charges to reserve a table. I've had meals at the Vancouver Art Gallery often over the years, but the implementation of a $4/person charge for simply reserving a table is too much. I will not be returning, despite the good food and service.

    I ordered the Bison Bistro burger, it was very dry, ie. not enough sauce or condiments on the burger other than melted cheese. The dark burger bun could have been warm & a bit toasted, it was like taken out of a bag & a burger was put inside. The service was awful, we felt like the waiter was annoyed when we asked him questions. When he brought us the bill he just walked away, we both had our credit cards out & wanted to pay right then & there. I don’t think this waiter had worked as a waiter before, he had a bit of an attitude! Other than that, the atmosphere was great - liked the layout & location- right in the centre! I sat on the patio before and it was beautiful!

    This is the best patio in town and the best brunch around. It's perfect every time and I appreciate the consistency. We had a wonderful experience.

    Love the ambiance! They were very accommodating to my allergies. I am not a huge fan of French toasts but have a shot as it was gluten free and had dulce de leche, IT WAS AMAZING! Must try!

    This place has some really great ambience. The service was good (we never ran out of coffee or water). The brunch menu is limited but it was quiet at 10:00 on a Sunday which was wholly unexpected. Great spot for a girls brunch.

    We were there for brunch on a Friday. The room has a bright and modern atmosphere, seating is comfortable, servers were friendly and the food was tasty and attractively presented. The service started out really well and then they sort of lost track of us at the end of the meal. We had to ask for coffee, then sugar and then the bill several times. Otherwise, I highly recommend 1931 Gallery.

    We were a party of four getting together on a weekday to catch up. We had their contemporary afternoon tea inspired by Growing Freedom – The instructions of Yoko Ono / The Art of John & Yoko. Just by looking at the menu, you can tell a lot of thought was put into the planning and execution of this menu. We were all impressed with the flavours and textures, which complimented well with the sencha tea. The bistro is loud and atmosphere not ideal for afternoon tea as we struggled to hear our conversation. The menu had many stand outs, including the tuna poke, quail egg benny, chilled ramen, soy steak, yuzu tart, mango roll. We celebrated by adding a bubbly/mimosa to our afternoon tea.
