   A GEM. 23 was a wonderful find. A super place for a before or after theater special event. Walking distance to all 3 Stratford Festival venues. The menu was very inventive. We tried all the appetizers, then did the lamb, risotto and the tuna for main and finally the goat cheese cheesecake. The flavors were amazing. Elegant presentation and perfect portions. We all loved our meals. The room was nicely decorated, with carpet, table cloths and drapes. Other restaurants should be so nice and quiet. We could all talk! Our waiter was attentive, informative and enjoyable to have. The prices were a bit on the high end, but the food matched that easily. I hope we get to see these people again. A memorable night for us.

   We were four woman from Windsor,Ontario and from reading reviews we decided to try this new fantastic restaurant. Our dinners were amazing and desserts were to die for. Our waiter and manager made us feel very comfortable.(We we’re a bit loud I think😉. Even the chef came out to greet us and he is amazing. My friends and I will return hopefully this summer.

   We were extremely happy to find 23 Restaurant Lounge in Stratford. It's a new restaurant, but clearly an excellent addition to this wonderful town. Our meals, the risotto and the short ribs, were outstanding. The food is fresh and inventive. Of the various restaurants we visited in Stratford, 23 Restaurant Lounge was by far our favorite! The food, the service, the atmosphere were all exceptional.

   We were pleasantly surprised to find a new dining option in Stratford. The location of 23 was very convenient, especially if you have a show at either the Avon or Studio theatres. The décor is very nice and we found the restaurant spacious with a good sound level (we were able to have a good conversation). Colin waited on us, and was very friendly and attentive. I had braised octopus as an appetizer with the rabbit as my main dish and the cheesecake for dessert. My wife had the cauliflower an appetizer with her main as the tuna and she had the corn dessert. The octopus was done very well, was very fresh and was very tasty with the clams, mussels and chorizo. The rabbit was the star of the show – the tiny bits of guanciale and the spaetzle were just divine. My wife’s cauliflower was scrumptious with the cannellini beans. The tuna was very creatively paired with pickles, charred corn, fingerling potatoes and salsa. Needless to say, we both cleaned our plates and rewarded ourselves with dessert. The fried cornbread was amazing and the caramel popcorn was a nice touch. My cheesecake was paired with fresh strawberries. For the quality of food, and a $70 bottle of wine, our bill came to only $(CAD) 250, comparable to what we’d pay in any other of the places in Stratford where we usually have dinner. There were many other dishes on the menu that we’ll look forward to trying the next time we’re in Stratford.

    We unexpectedly had gala opening tickets to one of the Stratford Festival plays and, when we discovered our usual restaurant was full, we decided to try 23. We'll definitely be back. Our group of two couples tried the scallop, pate en croute, and braised octopus appetizers, the duck breast, rabbit and tuna entrees, and the goat's cheesecake dessert. Everything was yummy. The sommelier made a very good recommendation. A request ti prepare the scallop appetizer without the pork belly was handled appropriately. Our server was also attentive to time and had us finished in plenty of time to walk the red carpet at the opening night!

    Excellent service! Every staff member including the chef came to greet us and everyone was very knowledgeable. I highly recommend the duck pithivier and the goat cheesecake which were incredible.

    The 23 restaurant and lounge is a lovely spot, serving upscale, quality cuisine without a pretentious vibe. Excellent food/wine pairing, superior service and easy listening, live music in the background made for a beautiful Valentines celebration!     I felt that they were not staffed or prepared for a grand opening. We waited 50 min for our drink, we did not even have water or the free sparkling wine they advertised. We ordered the beef Wellington and they ran out. So we had to choose something else. I got the wrong appetizer. One member in our party received her Finn cold. Mine was Luke warm. We ordered lamb the table beside us got 3 lamb chops we got 2 no explanation no discount. Our waiter was very apologetic but too many issues to make us question a return visit. Value did not match the cost.

    We had dinner on the Saturday of the Grand Opening weekend. There were a few teething pains in flow, but the staff were super good natured and friendly, and the majority of the patrons were adult about it. The food was spectacular! Possibly the best lamb rack I have had, along with an excellent calamari appetizer and funky and tasty goat cheese cake. A fantastic experience, will definitely be back and strongly recommend!
