Love 34h Street Cafe. Feels like a cozy neighborhood restaurant, even though I don't live right in the neighborhood! The staff is always attentive, the food always good, and I can always hear the friends I meet (can't say that at every restaurant because some restaurants are so loud)! Will always come back here!

The service was very slow last night. To be fair, the restaurant was busy but we waited longer than we should have to order and the server forgot our appetizer. When we brought it to her attention she did bring it with our meal at no charge overall it wasn’t the best experience at a place we usually enjoy

We had a very nice dinner. The food was very tasty and the portions reasonable. The restaurant is very pleasantly decorated and the noise level is not too bad. We will probably try again. We did have two glitches that affect this review: We had researched this restaurant on Open Table including looking at the menu before deciding to try it. Imagine our surprise when we arrived and saw the menu to discover that the prices in reality were substantially higher than the menu that was shown on Open Table - about 50% more. It really felt like a bait and switch. Obviously the restaurant is not keeping the Open Table info up to date. In addition, Open Table indicated some wine specials and also flights of wine that could be chosen. Neither of these were available. The other glitch is that when we arrived we were to be seated at a table right at the entrance to the bathrooms. There were a bunch of tables unoccupied (and they were never occupied in the time we were at the restaurant) so we asked for a different table. Our request was granted but with an attitude that said they thought we were being unreasonable. And the table they gave us needed to be cleaned first while other tables that were clean and set were sitting there waiting.

We have been to 34th Street Cafe several times and each time has been a five star experience. The meals here are uniquely prepared and rank amongst the best in the city. Eddie has one of the most sought after catering services in the city which we have used for both large and small groups and have always been amazed at the quality of the meals and service. Eddie brings that same high level catering expertise nightly to 34th Street Cafe. It is truly one of the city’s restaurant gems at a much more affordable price level.

Best meal we've had on our 4 state business trip! Quail entree was sublime - the accompanying grit cake was as good as dessert! Steak luscious and perfectly cooked, halibut crisp on the outside, fork tender inside, grilled asparagus so yummy. Key Lime pie deemed best ever by a man who lived in the Keys and KNOWS his pie!

Love the staff. Kathleen, Rueben and Andraus are the best. Issues with the turn over of chef’s. Quality is a hit and miss. Salmon overcooked several times. The Tuesday shrimp overcooked too. Staff and drinks save Eddie and his restaurant

We had a wonderful dinner experience at 34th Street Cafe. We recently moved to Austin and have been trying different restaurants. We ran across 34th Street when looking for a last minute reservation and we are glad we did. The fish dishes were perfectly cooked and flavorful. Nice wine selection. Great desserts. The staff was very attentive. Couldn't ask for more in a small, local restaurant. Will definitely be returning in the future.

The food was worse than last time. The pizza was more like an flat bread with nominal prosciutto. The bill was way off from the prices on the menu. We had a horrible table whereby everyone kept running into me. It was too loud to have a conversation.
