We selected 4 different dishes to share between the four of us. All were excellent. The sauces were so delicious. We had to order more naan to soak it all up!
Second visit and just love the food! Three of us shared three mains and rice and naan. Probably could have had two and been full - but loved everything so much I don't know which we would leave off! Had spicey lamb vindaloo, the butter chicken (could have with more spice if one of us wasn't sensitive) and shrimp malabar. Wine list has some good options at reasonable restaurant prices.
Thinking of all the fabulous flavours I want to go back tonight!
one of the best places for authentic Indian food in downtown Toronto
As always the best Indian restaurant in Toronto. Everything is just so tasty.
Had a wonderful dinner with my husband before a concert. We started with mulligatawny soup we planned to share it and they brought it in 2 smaller bowls which was really nice and the soup was piping hot . We then had the butter chicken & Baingan Bharta (eggplant tandori) we shared rice and had naan. Everything was absolutely wonder tasty and hot. This is the best Indian restaurant In Toronto. Did not have time for the Masala Chai due to us arriving later than expected but know it is worth the wait. This is not the 1st time dinning at Aanch-Modernistic and it will not be the last.
This restaurant serves up some of the tastiest Indian food in all of the Toronto area. While it isn’t cheap, you’ll definitely enjoy your meal. Service is exceptionally speedy, almost bordering on pushy at times. Food arrives at the table with little delay, so your meal will be quite fast. We were seated downstairs but a quick look upstairs made it clear that that’s where we’ll want to sit next time, and there will definitely be a next time.
The veggie pakoras, and chicken pakoras were remarkably tasty, and our mains were truly excellent. We also ordered a mango lassi, which was fantastic.
Chicken Tikka Masala perfect ususal
The food was exceptional and the service was very quick. Loved the food!
The food is great (the Naan bread is especially wonderful) and the service is first-rate.
Complementary popadums with nice sauce and chutney. Starter - the pagora fish was tasty but a bit soft, i had expected it be more crunchy. The gobi massala was nice, the lamb rogan josh sauce was delicious, with a bit of a kick -but the lamb should have been more tender. Great garlic naan. Overall, all was very fresh and plenty!
Superb taste, recommend to everyone interested in Indian food
I was delighted to see this restaurant still has high levels of service, comfortable surroundings, and great food. Look forward to returning again.
This was hands down the best Indian food I've ever had. We started out with Rosemary Naan, delicious! My husband ordered the Tamatar Dhaniya Jugalbandi soup said it was outstanding. I ordered my favorite Baingan bhartha which is tricky at a new place but their version was out of this world crazy good. Hubby ordered Gobhi Masala, outstanding as well. Another order of garlic naan with our dinners and we were in heaven. Food is seriously the best!
It is a must visit specially for vegetarians. Portion side is Canadian, so note that. Non-veg lot of options for tali or wrap as well. Value for money. Service could improve with more waiters asking in between as it is DT Toronto.
Exquisite lamb biryani, the best we have tasted worldwide. The hobo was just crunchy enough, with the small potatoes cooked just right but no peas in sight. Great chicken kasha’s. Best kulfi ever. Great food. Room felt too small. Ladies bathroom had no toilet paper. Small shortcomings made up by great service from Paras, and food by Assistant Chef Noel.
Not my first time at this restaurant and I will return
We enjoyed our meals. Though we have Indian food often we are still unfamiliar with many of the dishes. Our server was not forthcoming with suggestions even though we asked. The service was not as friendly as we would have liked.
Food was excellent.
Well priced, quiet and good food
Lose the carpet freshener smell as it is not appetizing. Hardscape floor would be much more appropriate for the price point and quality of food.
Nice for the price. The food was very very hot
We had a really nice evening. The food is absolutely delicious and would highly recommend the food The only issue we had was that our main meal came before the appetizers. And one of the friends we were eating with I did receive her appetizer when we received our main entrée and did not receive hers until after we were nearly done. So overall, I love the food, but they do need to work on the order in which food is brought out
We went for Summerliscious. The place is a bit dark inside. I did like all the levels of seating. We were lucky that right after we sat down they asked us to move. Lucky because they moved us to a table overlooking the street. More light! Food was good. Loved the lamb rogan josh. The dessert was the biggest surprise. Have gone to many Indian restaurants before we do not really care for the rich sugary desserts but we enjoyed the ice cream and the pudding. They were very delicious. Naan was especially good too!! I did order a gin and tonic with a lime. The waiter said of course. He brought me a lemon instead and said nothing. When my husband mentioned it to him a few minutes later he said oh yeah we have no limes. Really!!!
Hidden gem in the entertainment district.
Food excellent with authentic flavour and wonderful presentation along with substantial portions.
Chef and owner personally visited every patron which was a lovely touch!
Will definitely return!
Delicious food, tons of options. This is a place to visit several times.
There were some flies around which was not pleasant
Excellent service and food.
Especially loved the avocado chaat. It was innovative and delicious.
We enjoyed the meal. There were 4 of us. We had the chaat and bhindi as apps. We had a shrimp dish, paneer dish and dal. Rice pulau and naan. Everything was very flavorful. Portion sizes were large.
I booked on my own and was put at a table in the bar despite asking to be in the main restaurant, so there was no ambiance. They served the wrong dish and I simply didn’t feel welcome. Food was good although chicken hadn’t marinated in spices and sauce which was a shame.
Excellent flavours and outstanding presentation!
We had a wonderful meal here before going to the theatre. Service was fast and excellent. They made sure we had plenty of time to have dinner and not feel rushed. Highly recommend this place. We will be back.
Excellent food and service as usual... Keep rocking
Nice friendly staff who helped us pick just the right amount of food without overselling. Excellent food - the Spinach Shammi Kebabs are a delicious starter. A good choice for a meal before a concert at Roy Thomson Hall.
Great place for a business lunch. Excellent food. Good service. Easy place to have a conversation.
Great food and nice atmosphere.
An excellent experience, the flavors were fantastic, as was food presentation and service. Look forward to going back!
Awesome food and polite staff. The Best Indian food in Toronto.
Undoubtedly one of the best meals I had for a very long time. The fish pakora was delightful, and although I eat meat, I decided to have the jackfruit masala and I could not have made a better choice, highly recommended. Staff were friendly, professional and courteous. Overall, an excellent food experience.
Everything was great. The only negative (and it’s a very small negative) was that the restaurant was very warm due to the kitchen. I could have eaten more if it wasn’t so hot. The naan bread was awesome. It was made when you ordered it. Get some!!
