Everything was outstanding. Highly recommend for a nice evening out.
Hate to choose what to dine on from such an array of fine options. I opted for the seared scallops; friend got the octopus. We were both happy as a clam.
Excellent service, but very bad food. I had a pork schnitzel, which was tasteless pork drenched in cement. I've had decent food there before and this may have been an exception, but they should find another chef. Its real attraction is outdoor dining, otherwise not memorable
Poor quality of food … staff unprofessional
The food was impeccable service was quick even though the restaurant was nearly full. Drinks are also yummy, As well as aesthetically pleasing. The location is also beautiful since it’s on the water.
The customer service and food was both amazing.
We had 2 steaks - a NY strip and a filet mignon - with mashed potatoes and green beans we shared with a wedge salad we split as a starter. Standard fare orders for a steakhouse - but Ada’s is unlike any steakhouse we have ever dined. This was an experience - steaks cooked to absolute perfection over a wood file; loaded baked then mashed potatoes, and roasted green beans with more flavor than any ever experienced. Even the wedge salad was uniquely flavored. The whole dining experience was capped off by the apple infused beignets - a touch longer in the deep fryer than the New Orleans French Market version, but reasonably close.
The Ada’s experience ruined us for any other steak house in the future, but the Ada’s menu is sufficiently long to prompt return engagements before we ever need to repeat the menu. Similarly, the wine line isn’t extensive, but sufficiently varied to support lots of return trips.
Fabulous 5 star quality experience.
I started with the "On the Plains" Bloody Mary, which was excellent and I would recommend it if you like a spicy bloody. They offer the brunch menu on Saturdays; I was looking for more traditional "lunch" items and there really were only three choices. I ordered the Chicken Paillard - it was just ok - while the chicken and accompanying salad were flavorful, the texture of the chicken was a bit tough and chewy. However, the desserts made up for it -- the beignets filled with apple and the almond joy cake -- were perfect for sharing in our group. I will be back.
I made reservations for Saturday night, for a much needed date night, and by Saturday afternoon I noticed in my email, that the restaurant has switched my reservation to 10AM Saturday...and that time had passed. Why on earth would I accept a reservation change to 10AM on a Saturday, and why would the restaurant make this kind of change? I was so let down, and irritated by this.
I've dined here before and was happy to return. The drinks, and food were great. The service, meaning operations is not great. When we've dined here, the wait staff has been great...but whomever runs host desk needs improvement. In fact, now I am remembering the host / hostess the previous times I've dined here fumbling to figure out where to put us and just seemingly overwhelmed.
Our meals where very good by all accounts. Highly recommend Ada's, great location noise level very acceptable and service was very good. It is a little pricey in my mind for a lot of the menu items but everything was really good. Highly recommend the oysters on the starter menu.
The food was very good but I would not say outstanding. Service was pleasant and excellent. Wine choices are very good.
Always a good time - a neighborhood gem
Food, service A plus! It’s just beautiful
Got some friends together and had brunch. The weather was crappy but the service and meal was great. The music was also perfect. Our server Valerie was excellent. We can’t wait to come back and sit Outside in a nice day! Thanks!
First time going and went for brunch with friends. The whole experience was amazing. The food, drinks, service, and ambiance all amazing. Highly recommend and will definitely go back.
Great food. Great service.
Absolutely fabulous food and service!! Beautiful dining room with fantastic views of the river.
We loved the food and service. Roasted Oysters, Scallops and Cowboy Ribeye Steak all top notch.
Birthday ! First time! Look forward to goi g again
A little pricey but probably one of the top 5 meals I have ever had. Service was
excellent. I will defend ask for Elaina again
Ada's is a terrific new addition to the restaurants of Old Town.
Had a great time & great food
I made reservations for a friend and I to catch up before she left town. I chose this place as it has a beautiful view of the Potomac and great food. We split the eggs Benedict and the giant French toast. Both meals were plentiful and very flavorful. Our waiter was beyond friendly and kind. Our coffees and our waters never ran empty. I highly recommend their brunch, the French toast really is giant and to die for!
We enjoyed this restaurant - great service, nice ambiance and food was very good (steak, lobster Mac, cauliflower, spinach, chocolate soufflé) except one dish which was a huge disappointment - the crab cake -if you like a crab cake that tastes like tuna salad you will love it - it is mostly mayonnaise and you can’t taste crab (I kept feeling like I was eating tuna fish salad) - I know crab is pricey but why not serve this crab cake for a cheaper price and offer a real lump crab cake for “market” price?
I was disappointed in the food, we had a burger which had an overwhelming flavor of smoke and. Gnocci which were covered with a strange topping so it seemed like there were no Gnocchi
I don’t like the cooking smells that hit you when you open the door
Our server was great though.
Hi, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We apologize we were unable to create a five-star experience. We have shared your feedback with the management team and hope you will give us another opportunity to impress you.
I have been at Ada’s a number of times & have always come away happy & satisfied. This time was no different. Chris, our server, was so awesome! Very attentive & so friendly. He is an asset to Ada’s for sure! We will be back!
Got fooled. Read the Washington Post review from April 2021. Did not know the star chef had departed. His dishes have suffered at the hands of others.
The Oyster appetizer had so much garlic, cheese and bread crumbs there was no Oyster taste. The Octopus app was delicious. The steaks ordered medium rare came charcoal black on the surface and cold and red at the center. Plus they were not properly trimmed coming to the table with lots of fat left on. One was filled with gristle. These were $50+ prime aged steaks.
The gnocchi vegetables were so overcooked each ingredient was indistinguishable. The gnocchi was practically missing. A few buried under the vegetables. If Ada's is going to continue to feature a picture of the dish on their website it should resemble it when served.
The lemon tart and the beignets were very good. The parfait was congealed as if it had sat in a refrigerator for too long.
The restaurant is beautiful, the location on the river inviting and the service was excellent. Time to get a new star chef.
Ok for steak and burgers. other than meats, things appear to be over cooked or iundercooked, but never "au point." Don't expect haute cuisine.
Great indoor ambience and amazing view of the Waterfront. A perfect spot for a nice lunch in Old Town.
Food was pricey, but very good. Service was outstanding. Outdoors would have be a great option in the spring or fall.
The food is spectacular - the cooking over a wood fire makes it so special. It was a lunch and I had a salad with salmon and my wife the burger. Service was wonderful and the wine list is outstanding. It was a snowy day, so only a few tables were full it and hence much quieter than usual.
Brunch menu takes full advantage of the wood grill and goes beyond the usual. Andrés the server for our table was great and had good suggestions for drinks and sides. View and the space were great even on the cloudy day before snowmicron.
Andres was a very attentive and had a great sense of humor!
Ada's never disappoints good food and perfect location
We had high hopes. Regrettably, the Crab Cake was disappointing. Other food items were good but the Crab cake was mushy and overprocessed. We told our waiter and the most he did was to say "I'll let the Chef know." That's it. No corrections. Nothing.
This was our first time dining here. The food was really good and the service was outstanding! Thank you Felipe!
Our New Year’s Eve dinner was delicious! Everything was fresh, hot and savory. Service was very attentive.
The scallops and salmon entrees were fantastic, but the real star of the night were the brussel sprouts. They are prepared to perfection and taste more like a candied dessert than an amazing vegetable side dish!
I would highly recommend this restaurant on the river. The staff is very friendly, the view is great, the food is delicious, and then add dessert which was the bomb.
Ada’s is a great, relatively new place on the Potomac in Alexandria. They do not take reservations for outside, but you can make one and then request outside if available. At least you’re on the list 🙂. We got lucky and got a table outside facing the water - they had the heaters going so grab one of the tables near the heat if it’s cool outside.
This is not a “bargain” restaurant - we still consider it kind of a special occasion place. We got three glasses of wine and both got the chopped salad and the bill was about $78. It’s a bit of a splurge, but we love it and will continue to go. The service is excellent and the ambiance outside is awesome. Lots of people strolling by wishing they were sitting where you are! We have not eaten inside - we love the outside too much ♥️
Overall pretty good. My fault for not verifying that brunch was served during the week, but it's what came up on open table when I searched for brunch. The burger I ordered was over cooked, but still tasted fine nonetheless. The server was courteous and professional, but since we were guys first guests of the day he seemed like we needed to give him something to do.
