   I booked this as a treat for my mother and sisters on our Christmas visit in October! Arrived and was told that due to events (it was empty) they could not accommodate us. Whilst the supervisor Sonia was clearly mortified, it was very embarrassing for me as I had book it as their Christmas treat. Safe to say I would not recommend unless you want to be highly disappointed

   Booked a reservation for high tea. Arrived for my reservation and was told they never saw it and so didn’t order the food for high tea. So I got turned away and they didn’t even offer something else at their restaurant. Obviously it was to late to book anywhere else in the city the day of. No costumer service at all. Book somewhere else if you want to have high tea and avoid disappointment.

   We had an incredible time. The staff were lovely and so attentive and the food was amazing (there was clotted cream for the cream tea). I think it was brilliant value for great food, service and ambiance. Will definitely be going again.

   I took my mother in law here for mothers day afternoon tea. They provided whipped cream instead of clotted cream. The sandwiches were pre made and a dry. The sandwich fillings were poor. Egg mayo with too Much mayonnaise, floury grated cheese with tomato paste, pre-made chicken and bacon filling with too Much mayo and smoked salmon and crème cheese. Nothing was fresh made by kitchen as I would expect for the price paid. Everything ordered in. Cakes clearly bulk ordered frozen, defrosted and put on plate. Very poor. Service however was excellent.

   The Secret Garden is a small part of the restaurant and a lovely fresh space with vibrant colours and calm atmosphere. The staff that we met were all very friendly and attentive. The high tea looked fabulous but unfortunately most items felt stale, the sponge cakes and sandwiches had that slightly hard crust from being out in the air for too long - we suspect they were made too far in advance. So quite disappointed in the quality of the tea, regardless of the price.

   The bread was stale, and when I pointed this out to your staff member, she did absolutely nothing about it. With the cream tea, there were 2 raspberry jam and one blackcurrant. We wanted to swap the blackcurrant one for another raspberry, but their were no staff around at all to do this so we gave up. We had to wait over 10 minutes standing at the entrance to pay at the end, meaning my 2 friends were starting to panic about missing the train. For £25, I would have expected an absolutely 5 star afternoon tea, and this was not it! I was disappointed.
