Hello, I have been enjoying The Bistro for many years. However, the last couple of visits have been ++ noisy. Perhaps this is due to my increased sensitivity to noise as an older adult but I also believe it is due to people just being louder in public places. The food is terrific, wine and cocktail list are well considered and feature local Ontario wines, beers and super crafted cocktails. The server are kind and attentive. I just wish the fellow guests would be 'better crafted and kind' (no ball caps, no wife-beater t-shirts, legs tucked under the table not sprawled into aisles, and lowered voice volume. And most importantly closed mouth while chewing please and no licking of knives please!) Thanks!

We had such an enjoyable lunch at the AGO Bistro today. The ambience was wonderful and the food absolutely delicious. However, what really stood out for us was the service. It was absolutely outstanding! Every person we encountered was so helpful and accommodating. A special mention has to go out to Sophia, our server. Sophia was exemplary in every way. She was attentive, courteous, gracious, and informative. I would highly highly recommend the AGO Bistro and if you get Sophia as your server consider yourself very lucky indeed. Sophia is amazing!

My friend and I enjoyed a delicious meal at the AGO Bistro yesterday, and I recommend it as a place with really good food and service. I miss their Cinq a Sept menu of shareable hors d'ouerves, though, and the new menu is somewhat limited. A few more choices in each category would be most welcome. My friend and I agreed that the fabulous grilled cheese sandwich that's been on the menu before should remain on the menu as a staple because it's excellent. We always enjoy something simple like that done in a memorable way. I'd also like to see a few more non-alcoholic cocktails on the menu since I can no longer have alcohol. One of my favourites is the alcohol free mojito, for example. The three they have sound good, and I had one which was spiced with cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg that was delicious - I had it for dessert, though, not as a cocktail, because it had whipped cream on top, and the spices wouldn't necessarily have gone well with my soup and pate. A nice treat.

The Bistro provides an elegant and tasty, as well as tasteful, adjunct experience at the Art Gallery. It is essential to reserve as it is a very popular place. The food is excellent, and we really enjoyed the Cornish hen. The wait staff are both polite and cordial. As with many restaurants today, the noise level is not much muted by any fabric or soft wall hangings. If you want the quieter experience, ask for a table on the lower level.

It is very very convenient, if you intend to take in one of the exhibits, although you can come in from the street and do not have to go to the museum in order to access it. The menu is not huge but the food is very good and the service was excellent. I believe also, that the brunch menu changes every so often and so that makes it interesting. There is also a prix fixe menu that includes an appetizer, an entrée and either tea or coffee for a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend it. Céline.

Both my companion and I were pleased to be in a restaurant in which we could actually converse (noise level has become impossible in so many other restaurants!!), and that is a huge plus for us. Our favourite cocktail wasn't on the menu but the bar showed flexibility in making it. Our server was excellent and the food quite delicious. We will be back for sure.

My husband and I booked a table for brunch before seeing an exhibit. We hadn’t been to the AGO’s restaurant, now called Bistro, since before the Covid lockdowns. We were disappointed in the menu and the food. He said his quiche was okay, but the crust was rather dry and it didn’t blow him away. There was a generous portion of smoked salmon draped across the top, however. I had the shakshuka, a dish I normally like. But this one was “green” with string beans, what looked like a few lima beans and a soupy sauce that tasted too strongly of some middle eastern spice or herb. And the two small pieces of sourdough “toast” that came with it were burnt on one side and not toasted at ll on the other. I wouldn’t order it again. The mimosa I ordered wasn’t made with fresh-squeezed orange juice and the prosecco was hardly noticeable. The limited menu wasn’t like any I’ve seen at an authentic bistro. The service was good and we still like the ambience. But the prices are way too high now for what you get: maybe one of the reasons the place wasn’t crowded like it used to be. When it was called Frank, years ago, it was my favourite restaurant in Toronto. No more, unfortunately. We used to also like going to the Members’ Lounge, but the only thing that appealed to us on their also very limited menu was the Ploughman’s Lunch - usually a pub offering! No more traditional afternoon tea either. We love going to the AGO, but will dine elsewhere until the menus are improved, - along with the wine list! We’re sad about that.

Restaurant was highly recommended and finished a nice afternoon at the AGO. Unfortunately we got caught in our servers break schedule at the Bistro so server who took our order went on break. Food delivered by a runner. No one checked in on us after meal delivered. It was quality fare but temperature was tepid at best. We made the best of it and We eventually flagged the replacement server down for a basket of bread to accompany the luke warm sauce on the dish. Bread was delivered 15 mins later after we’d finished our now cold meals. How different it would have gone if service matched quality of food.

Our dining experience at the AGO Bistro was a culinary delight! The appetizer salads were tasty adventures, and the entrées - grilled Cornish hen, and pickerel - were both perfectly done with tasty sauces to accompany. We each enjoyed a cappuccino to round out the meal. The servers were helpful, friendly and cheerfully efficient. Thank you.
