Rainy night and the restaurant wasn’t busy. We sat inside and watched the chef in the kitchen. Service was excellent and we were well taken care of. Octopus with grilled vegetables was delicious as was the tomato tart and steak.
Really good tartare beef and salmon
What a hidden gem on MONTREAL. Fantastic food and wine... not a huge selection but every dish is a winner ... you have to try the salmon or beef tartare.... one of the best I have ever tasted!
There was very little to choose from, but the menu was great and the food was incredible!
The place must be ventilated. The smell of frying is strong. Overall, it was good for a 5@7 with colleagues.
I love this place, and will be back...definitely for the terrine...but as well to try the foie gras. Great service and beautiful wines! Love it!
Good restaurant with a lot of potential! The food was really good and the ambiance nice. Make sure to ask for a table near the window for a better view.
L’un des meilleurs tartares de saumon!! Et les frites wow!
We visited Montreal for the first time, and loved Albert Bistro - great food, vibrant atmosphere, convenient Downtown location. Also loved the design accentuating its industrial past, including a freight elevator that has been reconfigured into a big, comfy nook, leaving the remnants of the elevator buttons. All our dishes were outstanding -- the ginger/lime salmon tartare appetizer, followed by the monkfish, tagliatelle with duck breast, and flank steak entrees. Outstanding service, and very affordable, too, especially for people who are accustomed to NYC prices.
My wife and I had a wonderful meal on our last night in Montreal. Our server was great, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the food was very good.
Waiter a little forgetful, but an enjoyable experience. Typical bistro environment. Good value.
Beautiful risotto with wild mushrooms-tasty and nicely presented. My wife had a salad with a nice variety of greens, walnuts, blue cheese, mandolined radishes, arugula, etc, Again very nicely presented. Staff was very friendly.
Staying in downtown Montreal and attempting to find a neighborhood bistro without going to far afield? Albert's is your place.
Warm, welcoming and with food that made us smile from start to finish. A creamy pea soup of the day was the highlight of our entire Montreal eating experience and we ate some GREAT food in a number of places. An easy choice if you want good food near Old Montreal, without the tourists.
Delicious food & great wine selection in a small, cozy-like local with kitchen-in-view and in central location.
The food is very rich and delicious. Lots of cream and butter used in those sauces but no complaints! Everything was delicious. The only caution is if you have picky eaters. The menu is limited so you have to be flexible on your choices. The atmosphere is casual bistro with small wood tables, but the location on Beaver Hall facing the tall modern business towers is very cool. We enjoyed our midweek romantic dinner there.
Incredible service and delicious food. A hidden gem!
Went for dinner with my son. Small menu, I would say 10-12 entrees, but there should be something for everyone. I had the scallop special and they were excellent. My son had the steak which he said was great. Open kitchen which was nice. Staff and service were very good. On a warm night they have patio seating.
Lovely little bistro.
Starters named main courses, at main course price. Very limited selection.
We should have guessed something is wrong with the inflated OpenTable rating when the place was almost empty, while immediately adjacent Venice was full and bustling. Regretrably, we ignored the hunch...
As a result the two of us paid 80+ CAD for a shared starter with three breaded shrimps, and two so-called main courses, each containing THREE (3) scallops and a plain green salad on the side (we didn't want ratatouille). We're not big eaters, but portions, while tasting decently, looked like starters. We were too stunned to ask immediately... People at the next table got an equally tiny filet mignon...
Other restaurants in the area serve more diverse food (this place has a tiny menu, and some items are unavailable), provide decently sized portions and charge adequate money. Stay away.
My second time at Albert and I will return for sure. Both tartars salmon and beef were amazing. Good private wine selection at reasonable prices.
Lovely meal. If weather is permitting, consider booking a table outside on corner of deck. Food very tasty.
From the US and travel throughout, in the states it's seldom found a place as this, as well the place next door, (both actually) this place made us feel much closer to Europe and the warmness of a local pub old time bar/eatery than we're used to finding.
As usual, it was a nice business lunch with good food and excellent service.
Chef special (filet mignon with salad and potatoe) was to die for. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We will be back next time we visit. 10/10 experience.
We came from NYC for the weekend, read reviews online, walkable from our hotel, it lived up to the reviews: great service, cozy ambiance, delicious food (limited menu) & wine and overall a very enjoyable evening!
À refaire avec mon amoureux prochainement.
Tres bon service, personnel souriant, nourriture excellente!
We were disappointed with the quality of the food & the service was just ok. Pity, we live in the neighborhood & are always looking for new places to try for dinner.
Close to the business district and downtown this bistro offers a relaxed atmosphere and great food. The wine list is short but offers good selections. The food is french influenced and is well prepared.
Incredible food. Great experience.
A beautiful discovery. The chestnut soup well started the meal. It was a WOW for everything we taste.
Delicious meal in a relaxed and friendly setting. Thoughtful service and a very positive vibe.
Absolutely delightful, classic french bistro, great meal size and tasty. I will go back soon
