In its bright and colorful restaurant, Alcalde serves modern Mexican cuisine with upscale flair in its friendly, Guadalajara-area eatery. The tostada de atún tuna piled on a crisp tostada with guacamole and radish and the tartar of smoked tomato juice, scalded egg yolk and pickled vegetables make unique and tasty starters. Some of Alcalde's specialty entries include the smoked octopus with vegetable risotto, the duck in adobo sauce with shrimp, chilies and eucalyptus and the juicy steak in pan jus.

A world class fine dining experience. The cuisine had layers of flavor and a few surprises which showcased the culinary talent in the kitchen. Each dish was attractively plated on “terrain themed” dishes. Service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. I opted for the tasting menu with wine pairings. It was priced similar to fine dining in a major international destination. Alcalde is worth a visit when in Guadalajara and is sure to please the most discerning diners.

Si el Alcalde fuera una novela, seria literatura arriesgada, valiente y amorosa. La pluma de Paco Ruano dibuja paisajes de un mexico del que te enamoras al primer bocado.

La mitad del menú degustacion estuvo increíble. La otra mitad creo que le falta más atención a la combinación de sabores. No me considero sibarita ni mucho menos, pero por poner un ejemplo el aguacate de uno de los platillos no estaba maduro. También nuestra mesera nos sirvió agua de piedra, y nos cobro la botella de $ 150 cuando a la mesa de ensefuida qué eran americanos si les llevaron agua filtrada

Alcalde es siempre una garantía de comer delicioso y buen servicio. No sé si recomendar algún plato sea buena idea porque constantemente están cambiando la carta, pero comí un Lechón especial del mes delicioso.

Good overall but some service opportunities left us feeling not so good about our decisions. Immediately one in our party was singled out because he didn’t want to order a cocktail. The waiter commented that he liked all his guests to enjoy cocktails first, our guest said no thank you once again and that he would enjoy the wine pairings instead. Then the waiter forgot about our wine parings altogether. This is when service began to take a downward turn. We ordered the tasting menu. The food started out exceptionally well, beyond expectations, then also began to take a turn. We were not fond of the main entree, it was nothing special, not as special as everything before. Dessert was dissatisfying. Porcini flan with truffle shavings and truffle oil was too many things and did not meld with the rest of the menu. Chef touched most tables during service but unfortunately did not come by ours. Once we paid, not a single staff bid us farewell or thanked us after our 3 hour dinner experience. It was expensive, even by US standards. Service was the biggest let down overall.

In a nutshell, this is hands down the best restaurant in Guadalajara. The food and wine pairings were phenomenal. This is a must-visit if you are in town.

Very experimental style, you can see the appreciation to the product, some dishes were great, some others were not favorites but that’s personal preference in terms of flavors and taste. The service was exceptional, you can see they work as a cohesive unit.

Overall it was a wonderful experience! The food was fantastic and the cocktails were incredible. Service was top notch, great recommendations with cocktails and were incredibly hospitable. My wife is pregnant and had a few dietary restrictions which they were able to make adjustments to her experience. Highly recommend this experience

Lamentablemente no se respeto mi tipo de reserva y es la primera ocasión que me resulta caro y no costoso. El cordero estaba muy condimentado, el flan de hongos con un sabor muy fuerte y un menú que me parece no es tan diferente del que he probado en mis otras dos visitas que fueron hace tiempo. El tiempo de espera entre platillo y platillo no fue correcto.

muy mal que solo te permitan pedir el menú de degustación solamente si todas las personas de la mesa lo piden. (en otros restaurantes si lo hacen) muy mal que no tengan el menú impreso y tampoco lo tienen actualizado. si pides un refresco, te llevan la lata mas chiquita que existe…me pueden explicar eso?? no lo entiendo!! la comida buena…como cualquier otro lugar bueno…nada espectacular el ambiente aburrido fui hace muchos años, cuando abrió el restaurante, y no me gustó, regresé muuuuuchos años después…y no me volvió a gustar yo no vuelvo nunca
