Located at 40 Brattle Street in Harvard Square, Alden & Harlow serves thoughtfully sourced, honest American food in a subterranean, modern and comfortable space. Replicating the style of cooking he does for family and friends in his home kitchen, Chef Michael Scelfo prepares humble, unpretentious food that honors tradition of place in its quality. It's how he connects with anyone who joins them at their table.

While reservations are strongly suggested, we also save a portion of the dining room and bar for walk-ins in the event that your request cannot be accommodated. So please, come on in!

Beautiful space and ambiance. The brunch was a bit overpriced for what it was. I got the focaccia egg sandwich and was disappointed. The fried egg was overcooked, it was way too much bread (and the focaccia was a bit stale), and the bacon was over salted. Wasn’t great and not worth the price.

Great food, but it was too loud to catch up with friends from out of town.

We made a reservation for 3 and were so happy we did! We ordered 4 dishes to share and the highlights were the Basil Pasta and the Ora King Salmon. Highly recommend! We will be back!

Coming from Portland ME to Cambridge MA for a memorial I thought we'd try Sunday brunch at Alden and Harlow before the service. I was looking forward to the "Morning Phase" mezcal and cold brew cocktail before church but the waiter said they were out of the ingredients. At noon when they opened at 10:30am?? Also, he informed us that it was tapas style with plates meant for sharing. That isn't mentioned anywhere obvious on the website, and the plates definitely weren't tapas style sharing plates. The focaccia egg sandwich was pretty poor. No wonder everyone's driving up to Portland to eat.

This is a truly wonderful brunch spot with excellent cocktails! I give this place a superlative review. One of my all-time favorite spots locally in the Boston area.

Absolutely delicious food. Every dish was unique and perfectly prepared. Fun, hip atmosphere. A little loud but not too bad. Great service.

Interesting mix of tapas style dishes and extensive wines by the glass. Would not recommend the grilled broccoli - tough. But beet salad and rabbit dishes were very good. Quite busy and active.

Second time here in a year. Both Sunday brunch. Love the vibe, the food and the service. Good energy and people watching. Both times the service has been best in class. And the food is creative, fresh and delicious. Looking forward to the next visit!
