This is our favourite restaurant but for some reason the main meal was sub-par. Ordered the Eggplant parmesan and it was not temperature hot and the eggplant was so chewy. Took most of it home and fixed it up with seasoning, sauce and cheese and it was great!

A wonderful restaurant with great food, ambience and service. Wine costs at most restaurants including Alena have gone crazy.

Food was served hot and was delicious. Service was excellent and our waiter was able to answer questions easily and customized the order. Chairs were a little uncomfortable on the back after sitting for a bit.

The strip loin special was tough, the vegetables included were sparse. The Caesar and Cottage salads were good. Those 3 items plus 1 coffee were $93 plus tip. Not great value for the money!

I have to say that I was disappointed with the Bolongese pasta; very skimpy on the amount of sauce on the spaghetti. However, it was tasty!! Also, the stuffed olives were very lack lustre. I think it was much better the last time we ate there. I have to say, the staff were amazing!!!

Had dinner with a couple of friends. We all agreed the food was excellent. Portions were generous. We stayed a bit past closing time and the staff were accommodating. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!

Ordered Calamari and got less than a handful. Saw another table order Calamari and the plate was heaped! Pasta was not hot, barely room temperature. Sent it back. 2 other tables that arrived after us received their food. By the time i received my pasta back, my family had already finished their dinners. I ate alone. Waiter took my pasta off the bill. But was already disappointed in my birthday dinner experience at Alena. Waiter was fine but service and food was certainly far from outstanding!

I find the food is way overpriced, small portions and nothing extraordinary. my steak was a bit dry, tasty but dry. definitely not what I expected for my birthday dinner..

Was told this was one of the best places to go to for authentic Italian food. So, we finally made a reservation. Got there on time and seated. Took the better part of 30 minutes to take our main order ... seemed that the waitress lost some level of interest, once my wife chose to not order an alcoholic beverage and a large table behind us came in. My food was ok. Pork chops were good, but half fat. The appetizer, calamari was super greasy, and it seemed like it was out of a box. My wife's meal was beyond undercooked and when asked, said that, and they just kinda moved on after a general offer to redo it, which we declined. Thought they would have at least offered some level of compensation for the poor dish. She literally ate 1/100th of her dinner. So, not a great experience overall and we will likely never go back again. Place was nice, super loud ambiance, but if the food and service were good, we would have gone back again. For $150, should get a better experience. Will be going back to the Tre Visi's again, which are always on point and 100% better for true Italian food and a better overall dining experience.

This restaurant is beautiful! We arrived when the restaurant was just opening and needed to wait some minutes until a waiter show us our table. The restaurant is modern and cozy with dark tones and details in raw wood. The star of the show is the beautiful pizza oven and barbeque open to public. The pizzas are really nice, with tasty and smoky flavours. We also tried the Porchetta that was simple spectacular and a Papardelle with wild boar that was fine but needed a salt correction to reach perfection. We will return to continue exploring the menu!

The waiter was great, the food was hot but my dish was not extremely tasty. Others very much enjoyed their choice of food. It’s a small restaurant & it was packed so not a lot of shoulder room & quite noisy. It was difficult to converse with friends sitting across the table.

Service and food very good. Caesar salad portions too small for the price. Wine prices are triple. Quite noisy, hard to have a conversation without leaning in and talking loudly.

We have been here a few times. On this occasion my wife had the veg pizza and was not pleased with the flavour. I had the spaghetti and meat balls and felt they lacked flavor. First time this has happened to us.

We enjoyed the service, the delicious garlic knots and the generous portion of tiramisu. The pasta was good but we didn't enjoy the pork cheeks. The pork tasted very strong, like a boar flavor.

I wanted to try Alena due to some solid recommendations from friends. The evening was a mix of ups and downs: 1. They were unprepared for our reservation. The woman at the front of house let slip that they gave our table to a walk-in (we were not late), then hastily set a table between the kitchen and the server’s station with fluorescent lighting(because of the kitchen). We had wait staff bumping us all evening long as they went to the kitchen or to their wait-station. It was not a great place to seat guests and really ruined the mood of the evening. We were willing to wait for a real table to open up in the restaurant area as we told the hostess we weren’t in a rush and didn’t mind waiting. 2. Garlic knots were absolutely amazing, dinner was off to a good start and we were excited to eat! 3. Both pasta dishes were ok… the carbonara was very bitter and dense like paste (not creamy) to the point that I couldn’t finish it. and the pappardelle was just ok. We came, we tried, we really wanted to like it but unfortunately our evening just came up short. I’m sorry.

Our first but not last time at Alena. Excellent evening made better by our server Greg. Nicely varied menu with additional specials available. Pasta and pizza both exceptional. Be prepared for a little smokiness due to the wood fired oven which adds to the ambiance. Definitely added to our top Italian locations.
