Very nice restaurant! We came on pasta Tuesday (by accident) where all the pasta's were $13. On top of that, we were also there for 'Summer Feast,' on their special menu. My wife got the special and I got the Crab dip and Tagliatelle. We are pasta snobs... the pasta was exceptional.
There were people around us with laptops and created the coffee shop vibe, yet sophisticated enough to be a dining room as well. It's hard to explain but it was pleasant. I like everything about this place.
Overall a very good experience.
Prob one of yyc best casual places for great food, ambiance n amazing service. I frequent often n always am introducing new people who also become equally impressed

Food was terrific, as it usually is, but service was subpar. When we arrived, I was told that my reservation had already been seated, when in fact they had seated another group at our table. They then moved us to a small table right in the corner of the restaurant, which was not large enough to hold our drinks and plates on comfortably. The staff seemed fairly disorganized. However, the food is delicious which is why I keep coming back anyways.

My egg benny was overcooked, sandwich bread was so hard, and chai latte was too mild. Maybe it is a good place for a coffee and cake? So disappointed with food. Also, the tiny round table was so uncomfortable with my food. Sharing a couch with other table was weird as well. Couch seat was so low to the table as well. So busy in sunday. Many menu was sold out and food came so late.

An Italian place that can’t make pesto? Seriously ridiculous. The dinner food was mediocre at best, the service was the worst I’ve ever had anywhere. As a counter order place they’re fine but as a service restaurant it’s terrible. It took us 20 minutes to get the bill AFTER we reminded her that we’d already asked for it. One drink came in a dirty glass. The menu has changed but the website hasn’t been updated so half of their “signature cocktails” are gone. I will never go here again. Clearly the “servers” do not understand how to do their jobs.

Better breakfast than dinner. Pizza was OK with the bacon and fig being most interesting. Beet salad was basic. Soup of the day was tardy and very hearty helping. Bathrooms could be better mainly for cleanliness. Table was also not properly cleaned prior to us being seated.

What a beautiful coffee shop. This was a great brunch location and even better food! We had the crab omelette and brie and mushroom bennie...delicious!

We made reservation in advance knowing that it would be busy for Father’s Day. Unfortunately my review is based on a child that screamed and shrieked for most of our meal. I understand that kids can get cranky but after 30 minutes of non stop shrieking, we got fed up and left as soon as we could. This was not a nice date night meal. The restaurant was packed so I’m sure this affected all the diners. The sad part was that management did not even notice the screaming and if they did, did nothing about it.

I've been to Alfono many times however the staff should have asked another customer to step out. Her child (age 4 or so) was throwing a fit and screaming at the top of her lungs for a solid 50 minutes. The mother never left and other customers (5 other tables) complained verbally, as well as a few other people asked to be moved. Would hAve been much nicer if the staff stepped up and asked the lady to just step out for a bit, especially on a special occasion like Father's day

Always amazing food, service and atmosphere! I usually host a ladies meetup group here. I’ve tried most of the pizzas on their menu. Great price on Thursday’s for $13. Brunch is awesome as well! Thanks for serving us tonight Ally! See you next time! :)

I really like Alforno for a casual breakfast - the food is UNREAL yummmm! The service though is really lacking. It feels like they are not sure if they are full service or counter service...so it's kinda messy.
Just manage your expectations - if you're looking to have Teatro-Group-level service, it isn't going to happen here. If you're looking to have Teatro-Group-level food that is on the casual side, and just as yummy - you will absolutely get that here!

This is a cute spot. Food is good. Service was a bit slow, for what we ordered it took a long time (avocado toast and a side of bacon). The A/C was blasting so we were freezing. But I’d try it again to see if those were just a one time thing.

I often go to Alforna for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was only disappointed in the service this past time. The server came by at least 5 times to take our order even though we asked her to give us 10 minutes or so. She never even offered us a drink before asking to take our order and we had to ask for a drink first. I don't hold her responsible for this but whoever is training your servers; generally speaking they are very professional! I will always recommend Alforno.

I've noticed the servers are typically young and can be great but this last time it was obvious our server had never seen anyone pour wine. Wine was dripping down the side of the glass and the carafe and then she knocked over and broke a wine glass on the people sitting next to us.

I love the location of this restaurant, and I really like the ambiance and atmosphere, but the service was terrible.
It was not busy when we went for dinner at Alforno, it took the waitress almost 10 min to bring water to the table and even more time for our drinks to arrive, I found that our waitress was inattentive and not very knowledgeable about the food when I asked her about it.

My fiance and I have never been to Alforno before. I wasn’t a fan of the orecchiette (a bit dry/bland) but the manager definitely went above and beyond to offer solutions and everything else we ordered was great. Portion sizes are generous and the roasted vegetable spread/dip for the flatbread is AMAZING! We didn’t have time to get dessert but they looked so good I’ll have to go back sometime soon to try them.

I booked this brunch for our annual staff get together. When I called, I asked if we could have a table in a corner so it would be a little quieter and we could talk throughout the whole group. Our table was literally in the middle of the room. It was so loud and people on one side of the table had to yell to talk to someone at the other side, and we definitely couldn’t talk to our staff about anything because it was too loud for everyone to hear. Food was okay, not worth it for the price. The tea wasn’t super hot and the espresso machine was broken, so specialty coffees weren’t an option. The service was nothing to rave about. I wouldn’t have tipped 18% for that service, but had to as it was automatically added to the bill.

We love Alforno. The food is always good, and with having two kids they’re always so accommodating. We’ve never gone for pasta night before, it was good. Just wish there were more pasta options to choose from. Other than that everything was great.

I have been to Alforno many times for lunch and have had an amazing experience, great food and service. Unfortunately this time we decided to the try the menu as part of the YYC food and drink experience and the main course definitely left a lot to be desired. I had been very excited to bring a friend with me who I mentioned Alforno to many times and unfortunately it didn't quite live up to the hype that day. I will definitely be back for lunch another time but not sure about dinner.

It was very good. Honestly nothing to complain about, but just not one of my favourites.
We had assumed this was more of an 'earls' or 'keg' or nightlife like restaurant which is definitely not, but still turned out great. Its like an upper class cafe that people hang out in and you can order dinner if you want. Pretty great food and ended up being a wonderful night.

Everything was great except we were in a corner close to an HVAC vent. Unfortunately there was cold air from time to time; so, we needed to ask our server to adjust the thermostat

I have been to Alfrono many times and have never had a bad experience. Love the food, love the amibance and love the service.
We received exceptional service and delicious food for an evening meal. The pizza and salad were very good and the desert and Americana coffee topped off a great dinner.
The two elderly persons I was with received respectful and engaging treatment and were assured a safe walk up and down the steps by caring and attentive staff.
