Needed to give zero stars. We waited 15 minutes before someone wanted to seat us. We were the only 2 waiting and handful of open tables. Finally got seated. 15 minutes passed and not 1 employee noticed us sitting. No acknowledgement at all. Waited a few more minutes and nothing. We walked out. We noticed others waiting up front to be seated. They all left. Terrible!!
Went on Valentine’s Day so very slow service... never got our soups and salads that came with the entree. ran out of wine glasses so I paid $8 for 2 sips of wine in a smaller glass that was definetly not a full pour. But the second glass was correct! calamari, lasagna and filet was excellent!! Server was nice but flustered.
Service was a bit slow, but it was Valentine's Day and we were not in a rush. The server kept apologizing but we were perfectly OK.
I requested a special meal that combined two dishes and they were more than happy to accommodate me. The dish turned out to be outstanding! I look forward to having my "special" meal the next time I dine at Aliano's. The special dish I ordered was 1/2 chicken parmigiana and 1/2 chicken limone. YUM! 10 stars!!!!
Haven’t been in a while and was pleasantly surprised. Service and food was good.
We had an amazing waitress. Ask for Jesse... She was very good with the kids.
It took forever to get our food. It was NYE so I understand the delay. Thankfully we were not in a hurry. Our waitress kept apologizing. She was very nice.My dinner looked like it had been sitting under the lamps awhile when i got it. Last time we went it was great. I will give it another try.
Went on Christmas Eve for their buffet! Most of the items were cold and tasteless! Deceiving in their advertisement! No shrimp cocktail ! No mussels! The rest of the items mediocre at best! For $ 30.00 per person expected more! Never again! Couldn’t wait to leave! The service was great though!
Pizza was great. Nice vibe in the restaurant.
Food has been better in the past, don’t know if there’s a new chef. Everything was very salty of which we have had those dishes before so we are comparing exactly what we enjoyed in the past. To bad, it was disappointing.
Waitress was only good thing about this experience. Our food took a very long time to come, and sadly was so not worth the wait. It really was the poorest Italian food we’ve eaten in the Batavia/Geneva/St. Charles area. Food, was very very greasy, and did not smell or taste fresh. I would advise anyone seeking Italian, to check out Villa Verona, in Geneva, instead.
I wanted Aliano's to be great, since its in my hometown, but sadly, I can't even say that its good. Four of us went on a Friday at 5:30- the only ones in the restaurant until two more tables were occupied at 6:00. That should have been a sign! (The bar seemed a little busier)
I tasted the lasagne, which had way too much ricotta and not enough sausage or meat. Also tried the chicken piccata, but the sauce was too gelatinous, like the chef got carried away with the cornstarch for thickening, and it was also too 'bright'- way too lemony, without any taste of white wine or butter. Finally, the spaghetti and meatball: (don't know how anyone could screw that up!) adequate. Nothing terrible, but nothing outstanding either. I'm pretty sure the same sauce as the lasagne was used.
The decor hasn't changed since it was opened, pretty much the standard faux 'painted village' look as every other Italian joint.
The one high point was our waiter, Daryl, who was funny, gracious, and amazingly observant- he made the dinner memorable for the RIGHT reasons!
So, waiter= 5 stars (smiley face here). Restaurant= 2.3 stars (frowny face).
Fantastic food, large portions, and excellent service. We were told it was under new management, and it's great. We will definitely be back on a regular basis.
Had a wonderful meal with my daughter and family. A nice Birthday meal treat for my granddaughter.
All the entres (4 different) we had were great, and large enough for a later meal at home.
We have had dinner here a few years ago. We were happy to be able to reserve a table one hour before we set to arrive for a birthday dinner. The server was pleasant but did not ask about the special occasion that we were asked about during the online reservation process. Also she did not inform us of the evening specials. I think she may have been the only server that night because she seemed very rushed. The orange roughy dinner was ok, the mussels were very good and the Blackened shrimp was very spicy, but good. We did enjoy our meal and I'm sure we will go back again .
I was disappointed with Aliano's. I used Open Table and when i told the hostess i'd just booked the Open Table reservation, she muttered that she told someone to stop doing open table reservations and sat us down. There were 3 other parties in the restaurant, the closest to us had their meal & were just enjoying their dinner. It took a couple min for us to get water. The server finally came back after 5 min to ask what we wanted to drink. We also ordered an app. Waited 5 min for drinks. Waited 10 min for our server to come back and get our orders, all the while our menus were down and we were ready to order. we finally got a chance to order food after being there 13 min. By then there were 2 other parties in the restaurant. Bread arrived 5 min after we ordered. App arrived 15 min after we ordered. Soup/Salad arrived 25 min after we ordered. We kept thinking they're getting food from somewhere else since it took so long for even soup & salad to arrive. 50 min after we placed our order, I asked my kids if i was being unreasonable to be upset that we hadn't gotten our entree. They felt I was justified. There was a new parties of 7 & 9 that arrived, but that shouldn't have delayed our meal. We were there first. I went to the hostess desk and she and the server were standing there. I asked where my entree was, we had a movie to attend. The server said the kitchen was working on it. The hostess said it'll be ready in 5 min. I set a timer. 5 min later, nothing. We gave up, packed up and went to the hostess desk. Waited 2 min till she returned. She said, "oh i saw you guys get up and leave, but the food is ready and we were going to bring it out". I said we've waited almost an hour for the entree. We give up. We are going to the movie. What do i owe you for the app we got. After talking to the server, she said no charge, they tried. No they did not. There was no update from the server as to the status of our food. NOTHING. I've told several people about my experience there.
Service was casual, food was indifferently prepared.
It took a few minutes to order drinks but after that the server was very attentative and friendly. I ordered the veal scalapini and my wife ordered chicken picatta. Both meals were delicious and large enough to have takeout for another dinner.
The food was Ok and it priced appropriately. had never been here, found it on Open Table so thought we would try it. Nothing fancy, nothing special and food is just OK.
Excellent food excellent service! Couldn’t have asked for a better NYE dinner. Knowledgeable staff very friendly and willing to offer recommendations for wine pairing!
We had a great experience. Our food was delicious and the portions are appropriate for the price. We will definitely go again!
Had the buffet for Christmas Eve. It was almost inedible. Wrong drinks served and way over poured. If your going to do this poorly just don’t open on Christmas.
The Christmas Eve Buffet was awesome! Highly recommended it! Hoping they do it again next year.
Bread was great but plastic was in the pasta
New ownership! Food was very good and portions were big! The service couldn't be better! I hope that they do well!
Food was good but service not great. We asked for leftovers to be wrapped but they were never delivered. We wanted dessert but we were never given the opportunity. Just a bill. It was before 10pm on a Saturday, but we felt like we were being rushed out. Probably won’t be back.
excellent, except I had noted on open table reservation & when I got there that there was a birthday, but no acknowledgment was done.
Took 15 minutes before they brought bread to the table. We ordered an appetizer but they delivered my husband's salad and my soup first, then the appetizer, then our dinner. My husband ordered the rib and chicken special that was suppose to come with mashed potatoes but they served French fries instead and it took 45 minutes to get our dinner. Needless to say, we were somewhat disappointed with our visit this time and doubt that we'll go back in the future.
The food was overpriced and just okay as far as Italian restaurants. Also we went on a Friday night at 5 and for the hour and a half we were there not another single person came in, it was very odd. We won't be back.
The food was as good as any italian in the Chicago area, with excellent portions.
The food and service has improved since the last time we were at Aliano’s....we commented to the server about the improvements and were advised it is under new ownership....so if you were disappointed before you might want to try again. The Italian sausage appetizer was much better since the last time we ordered it the sausage was mushy. We also ordered the eggplant parmigiana with a side of angel hair and that was very good also! Good Luck to the new owners.
The food was very good, but there was some confusion on salad dressings and what flavor was used. Salad dressing seemed store bought. The main course food was very good. The wine and draft beer seemed to take a long time to get because they said they didn't open the wine cases yet and the restaurant was busy. In general the food was tasty!
Waited extremely long for a pizza.
Service was slow. This was on the bar area.
Ordered a carry out and the dish was so small for the price and under cooked.
I was not satisfied with our meals tonight. I have been there many times and had parties catered, but I was very disappointed in the food tonight. It was very bland. It seems the quality of food changed. The service was great, but I can't go back if the food isn't good. I found out that the ownership changed this month.
The food and service was just OK, nothing to get excited about. It was not very crowded for a Saturday evening, maybe that's why. If they want people to go the their establishment, they need to be much better. I'd like to see them in Batavia for a long time.
This was the second time we have been to Aliano's - we were not impressed with the food or the service the first time but we thought we would try again - unfortunately the same goes this past time.....
spaghetti sauce too sweet, Italian sausage was mushy and how can an Italian restaurant be out of Chianti??
Place was dead from the time we arrived and by the time we left. No music in the background so all you could hear was employees talk. Bread came out burned, chicken piccata, chicken was dry. They use to be better here so we will give them one more try.
Have been there many times and loved it but this was the WORST. Server was rude, food was incorrect and overcooked then the manage was rude to top it all off. Took over 2 hours on a Sunday evening when there was a total of 3 parties in the restaurant-unacceptable.
