Alice is a fermentation and vegetable focused restaurant in Ottawa, Canada by award winning chef Briana Kim. Our food is inspired by Canadian landscape, and traditional and modern techniques of fermentation around the world. Due to the nature of our fermentation focused menu, some of the components are prepared in advance and we cannot accommodate all allergies and preferences. Please contact us prior to booking at info@alicerestaurant.ca to confirm. Alice offers one dining option; an 8 course blind tasting menu at $195 per person, and natural wine and fermented juice pairings at $135 per person. Each reservation is booked for 2 hours. We have an intimate dining room; we kindly ask that bookings be dedicated to adults and older children only to ensure a timely service and quiet atmosphere.

Food presentation was very good but the flavours and textures were just OK. The wine parings were well thought out but were very bad quality and volume/quality of the wines and Juice do not justify the High price

Brianna is a genius ! Keep an open mind and come to experience a gourmet adventure with just the right balance of virtuoso technique and artistic presentation. I had many jaw dropping ohs and awws throughout the 8 course no menu dinner. Wow ! Just experience it !!!

Phenomenal experience, if you are a foodie, you have to try! The food is just exceptional and we loved the fact that the chefs themselves come to the table and explain their plates which makes it extra special! We saved up for this night as we had been here in 2022 to taste their forest menu. This was the best of Alice s menu and it did not disappoint! The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and the chefs are artists! This was Michelin star 🌟 quality and taste! If you can get past the pricey tab, then this is by far, the best experience you will have! Highly recommend

What an amazing and unique experience! Service was impeccable as was the food. Unfortunately, we were seated by the door and window and we were a little chilly.

Excellent food and very nice people. It's on the pricey side but it's also a unique experience and you can see the work that goes into the overall experience. Definitely recommended, especially for special occasions where you're looking for something out of the ordinary.

As a culinary enthusiast, I was excited to dine at Alice Restaurant, and I must say, the food truly exceeded my expectations. The chefs at Alice are not just cooks; they are passionate artists who bring a delightful creativity to their dishes. The highlight of my evening was the chefs personally presenting some of their signature dishes. Their enthusiasm and dedication to culinary excellence shone through with each plate, making the dining experience uniquely memorable. However, while the cuisine was exceptional, the service left something to be desired. The wait staff, albeit professional, lacked the warmth and friendliness one anticipates in a fine dining establishment. Their interactions felt somewhat stiff and distant, which stood in stark contrast to the passion displayed by the kitchen team. This disparity was noticeable and slightly detracted from the overall ambiance of the restaurant. Despite this, the outstanding quality of the food cannot be understated. It's rare to find a restaurant where the kitchen's love for their craft is so palpable in every bite.

Not only every dishes were outstanding but each element of the dish was so well balanced with such a high quality excellence and fineness. Service was also very attentive and chef was very nice too. It was such a beautiful and wonderful experience.

This was our second time at Alice and again it exceeded our expectations. The thought and creativity of each dish go far beyond anything we’ve ever had. Truly a gem!! Can’t wait to see the transformation and their new location!

Definitely a special occasion evening, but worth the splurge. Some one the most delicious and beautifully plated food. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care went into every course. Also, very well-curated wine list.

Highly anticipated dinner tonight at Alice. Eight course blind tasting menu. I am completely and unabashedly seduced by the fine details in the food service industry. It’s what I seek in fine dining experiences. I am more than happy to pay good money for incredible food but the service/atmosphere is 50% of the experience for me. Think >> ‘the devil is in the details’!! Alice does not disappoint! Alice’s service staff were incredibly well-versed in their product, professional, warm and welcoming. In house tea brew, delicious creative vegetarian fermented foods served in beautiful pottery dishes. Unique flavour profiles. Warm handcloths after a sweet course eaten with our hands, really great handsoap and lotion in the bathroom and individual hand towels. All shared with great company. Great evening!! Highly recommend!

This is not a nightly dining option, but it IS something to be experienced: Set aside a couple hours; go with someone who enjoys beauty and who is willing to try a variety of experiences; and, indulge in sharing each of the offered pairings. It is such a world that we live in where these things could be conceived of and created and what a wonder to be able to access such a dining experience in my own (now) hometown! (Was this restaurant part of my decision to relocate TO Ottawa? 🤷) Kudos to the chefs and staff! I look forward to seeing you again, before you close this location and after, for I will definitely find reason to celebrate when the new location opens, too!

This is some of the best fine (and plant-based) dining I've had, and most certainly within Canada. Everything was excellent and I love the use of fermented and forraged foods. Definitely pricey and a special treat, but can be compared to Michelin star restaurants around the world!

Overall the food and service was excellent. The value is fair, considering the portion is not enough to satisfy our expectations. It was a unique experience but we would recommend considering bigger portion or adjusting the price. The staff are wonderful and service was exceptional. Thanks again for a lovely evening.

Culinary experience is outstanding and you discover flavors and pairings that are really unique. Service is very good and fluid. I think it's a must to try at least once but the overall price makes it difficult to justify going again when you consider the other options in town.

Staff was nice, explained the food well. Chairs are very uncomfortable and the base of the tables makes for awkward foot placement. Extremely expensive for the portion sizes/what goes in to the meals, bottle of Beer was $18.00, Wine pairing is equivalent to about a 1/3 of a bottle at a cost of $135.00, Tea was $15.00 (South Beach Miami offers better value for your buck and that's saying alot). It was a different experience, can't say I will be rushing back.

While the start was worrying, the rest of the meal just kept getting better and better. What I refer to as the start is the fact that you are served two slices of bread and some infused butter unfortunately, the slices are really thick and a bit impractical to eat and the butter does not have anything special. The rest of the meal is a real experience with flavours that are unusual, surprising and really a signature from the chef who serves some dishes herself which is a pleasant connection. Service is smooth, no wait and the time goes by nicely. As usual with some of the locations in Ottawa, the acoustic of the room could benefit from some sound proofing. The interior design is nice and inline with the cuisine style of the chef. Will happily recommend.

This is our second visit to Alice. Last year’s experience was amazing, this year’s experience is exceptional. Chef Briana produces elegant menu to surprise our taste buds. Whenever we come back to Ottawa, Alice is the must revisit restaurant.

From the road, the place looks almost sketchy, but inside the atmosphere is great, and well decorated. It was a very creative meal. Extremely tasty and great presentations for every service, and very original dishes. I'm not a vegetarian, but enjoyed every plate. One of us had the fermented juice pairing and the other the wine pairing, and this was the weakest part of the meal. Several of the wines were simply 'ok' and could be improved. The fermented juices were original, but by the end weren't different enough from each other. Quite pricey though for the meal.

Slightly pricier than expected when you add the drink pairings so definitely a special occasion type of restaurant given the final cost when all is said and done.
