My wife and I enjoyed a lovely early dinner at Alouette. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived at 6 but busy by the time we left at 7:30 or so. The food was excellent, as it has been on several previous occasions that we have dined here. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Our friendly server was well informed about the wine list and the menu. We will be back!

First dining experience and it left a lasting impression. Guillame, our server, was exceptional - personable and genuinely attentive. All dishes were well prepared, with generous portions that left us so full and satisfied. The attentive management, who visited our table three times during the evening to ensure our experience was flawless along with the complimentary bubbles to cap off our night really made our evening an unforgettable memory at Alouette.

Great French bistro downtown. Beef tartare made table side, garlicky escargot, coq au vin and moules frites transported us to Paris. They were doing 50% off wines under $150 on Thursday so we splurged on a wonderful Pouilly Fuisse recommended by our waiter.

This is my 3rd visit to the restaurant and while everything overall was good with exception to 2 things: 1) overly eager waitress - constantly coming back to our table to see if we were ready to order. Better for her to ask us to let her know when we're ready 2) Steak Frites - seriously the piece of beef tenderloin was only 4oz or less. For the price and in comparison to other restaurants should be at least 6oz. Regardless of the taste this was a letdown. I'd recommend to stay away from this dish. Would I return? Definitely not my first choice for a French bistro as there are better options.

Overall experience was good. Food was very nice and the ambience is laid back but elevated. Server was good but had forgotten our order of table bread so we never received it but we’re still charged for it. Drinks took awhile to come out - we got them the same time as our appies but we had ordered the drinks first thing. Still one of my favour spots for beef tartare though.

The food and drinks are great but that means nothing if you don't have good service. It really affects the mood of your experience. Maybe our server had a bad day, but it is your duty in customer service to put your issues aside so that your customers can have a great time. Overall, we just felt like a burden to him and we felt uncomfortable asking him for typical things you would need out for dinner, nothing crazy.

We stayed at the hotel and really enjoyed our meal. Food and service was great, we had the venison special and the wife had Coq au vin, both excellent. I highly recommend Alouette.

Overall amazing. We had James waiting on us, and he’s the sweetest. Amazing Scottish accent and he knew how to treat his customers. Lovely ambience. We’re visiting Vancouver, and so booked the place as it had really good ratings… and we were not disappointed! We were made to feel very special and it was a night to remember!

Delicious food in a gorgeous restaurant!! Our server was fantastic and I really appreciated the slow service: it really made me feel like I’m in France. We had a nice romantic dinner over 3 hours: we had time to savor each course and enjoyed each other’s company. This is our favorite date night spot now.

This is the latest from 2021... This is one of the worst restaurants I have even been for a while. May be that's the reason the last review was from 2021, nobody wants to comment on it. We have ordered wine and it takes more than 20 minutes to come. My Smoked Sablefish Croquette was "BRUNT" or overly deep fried. I sent it back with my "compliment" to the chef. First of all, it is difficult to " over fried" it and it is a sin even to serve it... My duck confit was lukewarm as well as the "bean mixture". This goes for other guests who have the same entrée. I never have a chance to taste the Short Rib but from my friends' comment: it is OK (out of being generous or polite) The only thing that's half decent is the finishing dessert: chocolate mousse. What a disappointment.

Hostess and restaurant decor... nice. Server and food... cold and poorly made because it was under flavored, under cooked and did not represent the food on the menu correctly. Overall... goodbye. It takes a lot to get such a poor review from me. I like supporting restaurants especially local ones. My family used to be in the restaurant business for over 20 years. It's like a community among restaurant owners. So, it is with regret that I cannot recommend this establishment.

It was late dinner for us. We got seated pretty quickly and were presented with the menu. When server came to take our orders, he tapped me on my shoulder and said “what do you want?”. Perhaps “what would you like?” would sound better. The tap on my shoulder really put me off. We went during dine out but only 1 of us out of 4 did DOV, others did a la carte. I thought it’s a norm to mark down who ordered what? Everything was served to the wrong person :) Foie gras and escargot were mediocre. When you think salad is an appy? It came last. My friend asked to add foie gras on his entree and it went on my plate of salad. When we told the server, he took our forks and moved the foie gras. He didn’t move it to my friends’ dinner plate, but on the serving plate where the cassoulet was sitting on….?!?!!! Since one friend got DOV, he had a dessert course. Server was nice enough to give us an additional dessert plate but my fiance was pretty much ticked off by the whole experience at that point. And of course, when plates were served to the wrong person, the bills were wrong. My friend’s foie gras was on our bill. I must say the duck confit was really good and tender. But that’s not enough for us to return next time.

We have the DOV menu, duck seems a little bit dry, and the texture of the pork so so. For the appetizer, we enjoyed the beet salad, the other 2 acceptable. Dessert only one item, no choice

We had a lovely night, a nice bottle of french sancerre wine, the Duck Cassoulet and the Bouillabaisse. Both were great, personaly a dash of spice in the Bouillabaisse would have made it perfect and i would have given it a 10/10 !

Came early on a Sunday night so was not busy. Upon entry friendly greeting by host who was also our server. She was extremely nice and friendly. Food was poor quality and unfresh. Ordered the burger, escargots, french onion soup, shrimp proc. Burger was extremely dry and was basically a patty and bun, fries were not fresh and hard. I could've gotten a better burger at a fast food chain. Escargots were different than your typical French escargots as the serving was tiny without the fresh garlic butter parsley but instead some panko fry batter. French onion soup was not good as well compared to other French restaurants in the city. Overall quality of food was definitely lacking and disappointing.
