We arrived at 9:04 for our 9:00 reservation, only to be told they closed at 9:00. We left our hotel early and drove 1 hour through the mountains for this reservation with our two hungry kids. We were told there was nothing they could do to help us and that our only option was to grab something from Starbucks. At a minimum, they could have tried to offer us a lunchtime reservation for after our Icefield excursion.

As always the food was absolutely delicious. We are never disappointed when we have visited this restaurant. Although…. We do miss the mushroom soup… lol Our server was super kind and polite, I wish he was a hair more present but otherwise spectacular. Sangria was on point!

If you have any dietary restrictions, beware of this restaurant. I have celiac disease and require a gluten free diet. Many of the items on the menu were listed as gluten free, but then I was informed by the server than many of the “gluten free” items were not gluten free after all. So I had very little choice from the menu. That night I was quite sick. Clearly the “gluten free” had gluten in it. In the morning, I was charged $19 for 2 slices of gluten free bread and some bacon. This place is trying to be gourmet, but is missing the mark - big time. Don’t waste your money.

The server we had was really nice but the food options for a buffet was not great. You did not get much of a selection for a buffet especially for the price of $35 sadly. I’d recommend if this is your first time going to the Columbia icefields and you want something to eat but wouldn’t recommend to dine here everyday.

My husband and I visited for dinner after our Icefield Tour and were greatly disappointed. The restaurant was not busy. Despite having walked past us several times, our server took about 10 minutes to greet us. After waiting another 10-15 minutes for the drink I ordered, I asked for it again. Our server had forgotten. We were very hungry and had another 2 hour drive. Our meal, despite being tasty enough, was incredibly small and did not satisfy our hunger. I expect small portions and high prices in a fine dinning restaurant when the food is absolutely incredible. However, the Altitude did not meet these expectations. I got two slices of duck, 1 slice of sweet potato and a small amount of vegetables. The food was good, but not to the standard I expected for such small portions and elevated prices. Needless to say, I ate a protein bar after. The desert, paradoxically, was huge. We got the creme brule. Ironically the top was burned, and the creme too runny. The service was poor. Our server seemed more interested in socializing than getting us our food and bill in a timely manner. We don't expect staff to rush, but we do expect some urgency to provide good service. We feel cheated by overpriced food, chincy portions and bad service. If you are going to charge like a fine dining restaurant, we expect service to be at the same standard. We would not return, or recommend the restaurant. But hey, at least the deserts are

Quite possibly the best meal I’ve ever had. The food was beyond outstanding. The short rib was so tender that you didn’t need a knife. The flavours and attention to detail was unbelievable. The presentation was as beautiful as it was delicious. Go and experience this amazing cuisine before this chef moves on to New York or Paris. I know this all sounds gushing, but it is absolutely true. The service was just as impressive, including the chef personally checking in at every table to ensure that everyone was pleased with their meal. Something you rarely see anymore. Well done Altitude. Can’t wait to come back.

I don’t ever do reviews but I am making an exception for the Altitude Restaurant. That was the best meal out that we have had in many years and at very reasonable prices. Even breakfast that next morning was exceptional. This is not your typical tourist trap restaurant. 5 1/2 stars easily.
