Marco was amazing!! Really topped off our first time experience, will definitely be back soon!
We had an amazing time sitting at the bar while waiting for our table. Our bartender Marcko was so fantastic that we ditched the table when it was ready and stayed for him! The drinks were strong and delicious and the food was to die for! We were lucky to be there during restaurant week. We will come back as soon as possible when in DC again!
Overall great experience.
We came during the last day of restaurant week 2022 and were very underwhelmed. Our server was great and friendly but unfortunately, the food came out too slowly. We had to cancel our desserts because we were there for over two hours and still had not received the dishes we had placed 30 minutes prior. The food was subpar and most dishes came to us barely above room temp. The best thing we had was the lasagna but every other dish did not compare. Everything was just average.
We had such an amazing experience at Ambar! Will absolutely be coming back. We did the restaurant week all you can eat special and it was worth every cent. The ability to try dozens of dishes is something so rare, and our waiter Vuc was so knowledgeable and quick. Absolutely recommend this place to everyone for incredible food and service.
The food was just OK, the service was good, but the notice level was very high!
Had a wonderful experience with brunch! My best friend was in town for her birthday and I've told her so much about the restaurant that she couldn't wait to try it. We were able to get the table we requested and the service was excellent for this visit!
I'm sure this would be a nice spot if I didn't go for brunch. My entire party of 5 got extremely sick after eating & one of them is headed to the doctor now. The food was honestly terrible but their mimosas we're pretty good. I wanted to try them for dinner because I know brunch experiences can be limited but after all of us getting as sick as we did, I won't be back.
Amazing experience at Ambar during restaurant week. The food was delicious and made to order and the selection was vast! We were outside and the heaters kept us warm. There was a big gaping hole in the side of the tent facing the road we’d get a cold breeze every-time a car passed. It was a regal experience overall!!
Experience was great. Nice casual gathering. The unlimited tapas and drinks came out at a great pace. The waiter was constantly checking on if we were ready to put additional food or drinks in. Lovely experience
We went here last year after our COVID online wedding with the Justice of the Peace. So it was only fitting to come for our wedding anniversary. As always, the food, drinks, and service were on point. You cannot go wrong with Ambar because we have never had a bad experience.
Great place, great food, our server was amazing. Good place for big groups and special occasions!
Ambar was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in DC. I went with friends for restaurant week and every one of the small plates I got was incredible. The stuffed cabbage, smoked sausage, and goulash were standouts. Drinks were great and we paid for the unlimited option, but the prices without it were great for DC. $11/12 for most drinks—for their quality and for a restaurant like this, almost unheard of. Server was very kind. Service in general was a little slower, but it was a Friday night during restaurant week—totally understandable, but good to keep in mind if you’re going. Only thing I wish they had were better heaters or heaters for the ground (our legs were frozen!) but at 22 degrees it’s hard to do much, and I can’t fault them much—again, just good to keep in mind if you’re eating outside. Overall a great time and the food is truly astounding.
Awesome food, and the price point was reasonable. Ordered some food multiple times (the drunken mussels)
Outdoor heating needs improvement
It was great! Delicious and great deal for restaurant week! Highly recommend
Food variety was extensive and each dish was delicious. Our server was helpful, professional and very courteous. She helped us choose items on the menu as it was our first time and she was spot on with her suggestions. Will come back again very soon!
Ambar is amazing. The price is reasonable and the food is fantastic. It's perfect for 2 or 3 people since they are small plates. But since it is all you can eat, you can order things just to try and are not wasting a lot of food if you don't enjoy it. 10/10
Excellent choice for a brunch, great food and drink, attentive service
Second time dining at Ambar. Can’t wait for next time. Pricey but worth it. Servers did a great job. Birthday visit and they brought out a free desert for my wife. Thanks.
I came back after a few years to my one of my favorites, and Ambar didn't disappoint! We love the ability to try so many different yummy dishes with which we aren't typically familiar; and during these cold months, the food is a great compliment. Also, if you are adventurous, try the Forest Gnocchi for dessert--it's fun and worth it.
Absolutely the best experience dining I have ever had. The food was great and the staff was great. Ambar will be a must stop every time I am in D.C..
Fantastic. My visitors from out of town will always insist on going again. Paul is the best - give him a raise!!
Excellent food and service. With all you can eat, you'd maybe expect the server to discourage you from ordering too much, but instead they were welcoming and helpful with recommendations. It was really great
I enjoyed myself too much to take pictures however I love this place! Highly recommend. I love the Ambar experience!
Many of the dishes were too salty. Our waiter was wonderful.
The food was great and the service was awesome! We had cocktails pre dinner and then had mezzes for dinner with a lush red wine.
To celebrate my wife's 70th birthday, we decided to try this highly rated Balkan restaurant. At our waiter's suggestion, we purchased the 44.99 eat all you can in two hours sampler. Most of the tiny dishes were very good to excellent with no real disappointments. The highlight of our meal was the beet tzatziki with naan and fried bread. Outstanding appetizer!! We ordered it three times. The highlight of the evening was our waiter, Carlos, who patiently explained the ordering process and occasionally offered his own opinions and preferences to guide us gently along. He also delivered a surprise birthday dish to my wife at the end of the meal. The upstairs dining area was quieter, it seemed, than downstairs, and warmer. The ambiance was very pleasing. The event was a little on the expensive side but for the service and unique experience it was worth it.
I had a late lunch here on a quiet January afternoon and was impressed with the service and the food. We had the $25 express lunch which has a large menu. Stand-outs were the grilled pork neck, the ajvar and the slow roasted lamb which was delicious - it is very rich with fat. We liked the pork and ajvar so much we ordered a take-out portion. We were excited about the cheese pie but unfortunately it was very dry. Pita bread and the cornbread were great. The highlight was the service - friendly, prompt and courteous.
Amazing food, amazing service, love the vibes. Zero complaints!
It was really great,
I love to eat excellent food and to have small amounts of lots of different types of food and that’s exactly what this restaurant offers
The food is above average superior quality and for a flat fee you can get any of the food and drink on the main menu which is extensive.
I can’t believe I haven’t been here before and I’m planning on taking everyone I know to this restaurant
Plus our server who seem to be one of the managers was excellent
Always a great experience! Food quality is amazing. Service is great. Strongly recommend!
Great food and service.
Such an amazing brunch… checkin had me a little on edge as so many people love this place… it was busy to checkin even with a reservation, but it was worth the wait. Our servers were amazing. We had never been, but enjoyed the menu… tried so many of the brunch offerings. It was a great deal for tapas-style menu, ordered a little bit at a time ,plus amazing drinks. We sampled so many little plates and focused on getting Balkan plates to make sure we enjoyed the house fare. We got the drink special for $8.99 a person which included top notch mimosas with true fruit puree, homemade Bloody Mary’s, and house made sangria. We walked the street and other outlets were selling mimosas for $23 a person - really? We had amazing handcrafted drinks for $8.99 and an incredible Brunch menu of small plates and great service. The best!! I recommend 1000 percent!
