Menu is more pricey and upscale, but definitely good for a casual dinner or a celebration! Beautiful setting!
Had a great experience. The service waw great and we enjoyed the food. Would go back again soon
Food quality could have been better . It was too loud and when you expect to spend $100 you do expect some noise level control
Overall great and the staff were ready to take care of you
Great place for dinner, menu was fantastic and the place super spacious, good attention also :)
The rooftop was closed so our reservation was moved to indoor dining due to a “tornado” warning. A tornado in New York? K. The decor was stunning and that’s about it. The wait staff was dressed way too casual; sweatpants, sweatshirts, and ours had a wrinkly tee-shirt on. I was confused when our waiter came over to us, questioning if he was homeless. We decided to have the burrata for our appetizer with the truffle. The truffle was not fresh, as stated by the waiter. Disappointment. The sangria was delicious but I wouldn’t say it’s “world famous” as stated by the waiter. The food was mediocre and when we closed our check we were kicked out immediately. “We have other reservations” passive aggressive much?
Visiting daughter and this restaurant caught my eye!
Read about the history and decided to try!
Fabulous! Great job to the owners & staff!
Everyone was very courteous
Excelente atención muy buena comida 100% recomendado volveremos a visitarlos pronto!!! Gracias por todo
Great rooftop with a view!
Excellent food and drinks, not too crowded, and wonderfully attentive service.
The only good thing about this restaurant is the food. The staff - except for one - barely acknowledged you, and one was even down right rude. The music was so loud even outdoor that it made conversation difficult. Having a friendlier staff would certainly make a difference but based on our experience I would not recommend it.
Ambiance was picturesque, the food was delicious and the service was amazing
The atmosphere and food are great=) I did hope for more food and drink choices!
The atmosphere, service and food were grate. However, the bathrooms left a really dark spot on the experience.
The gnocchi was extremely watered down and that certainly was not truffle. There was no taste or aroma dont know what I ate but it was not truffle gnocchi. Even the Margarita pizza it was watered down I’ve never had a sauce that tasted like water. You only go to this place because it’s Instagramable or because of the atmosphere but do not come to this place if you are looking for good food. it’s over price and it is not good..
I loved his restaurant. The food was delicious and the wait staff very attentive. Super cute atmosphere on the rooftop. My only complaint is the hostesses downstairs were rude, not even acknowledging us as our party said goodbye/have a nice night.
The food was absolutely incredible, staff was attentive (especially about food allergies) — our server, Christian, was next level wonderful! Weather was not ideal so the rooftop was closed — will be back again to try the rooftop specifically but would definitely be back either way!!!
Great service, food was excellent. Rooftop is beautiful. Loved everything about it.
We have been to Ampia with a party of 4 people. The location is absolutely awesome and great to sit outside / on the rooftop. They also have a restaurant which is located inside (one level below the rooftop). At first we had some difficulties finding the entrance but once you see the signs it's no problem. The service was awesome, food was very good and the noise level is fairly moderate. Overall I would definitely come again with a group of friends - however for a date I would rather recommend sitting inside as the noise level can be disturbing for some people.
The only annoying things I would complain about was the photographer who took pictures on the rooftop. We were asked if we want a picture and agreed with the believe that this is part of the restaurant experience. At the end the lady showed up asking if we like the picture (she put it in a glass picture frame). We confirmed that this is a fairly nice picture and she asked us if we want to buy it for 20 USD. This put us in an awkward position and I strongly recommend that Ampia either suspends this kind of service or make her tell the customers that this will be a 20 USD picture in order to allow them to turn it down. Therefore keep that in mind if you visit Ampia!
It was wonderful!
Yummy gnocchi, great rooftop, live music, good service -overall a fun time!
Great food and drinks! Our waiter, Christian was amazing!!
Good food and service. The rooftop provides a nice atmosphere.
Very nice job on the rooftop! Lovely decor and spacing with a variety of seating configurations. While I thought $18 was exorbitant for the house Pinot Grigio, overall, our dinner was delicious. Gnocchi with lobster and Caesar salad with whole anchovies were on point👌🏽
Get the 2 person gnocchi!
La comida muy rica, el estilo italiano, el servicio atento como siempre, y tienen una gran variedad de bebidas es recomendable ir de noche aunque si gastas más de 100 dólares
Rooftop is brilliant. Interior is brilliant. Service is not terrible. But the place feels like it was created by someone who used to work in a theme park: the restaurant is always full of large parties (45th birthday, bachelorette, 21 birthday all while we were there). A photographer walks around taking group photos. You can't sit at your reserved table until everyone is there (even though you are the first person on the entire rooftop). The restaurant week menu is only served inside (but sorry the inside staff has gone home for the day so you can't really eat inside?) -- cocktails are $20+ apiece. Every dish has a lobster add-on (note: if you add on the lobster to the pasta you'll get the meat of one claw plus the inside meat of all the legs--there's almost a poetry to the parsimonious decision making here) No bread on the tables. Even the water feels rationed. But there is always someone around to upsell you on the next course or to refill your glass from the bottle of wine you bought. So - yeah - it's a great place to take your out of town tourist friends to prove that NYC is pretty, but would I recommend it to a true foodie? Not unless it was her 45th birthday and she wanted to get loud.
Overall, it's nice spot throw a sweet 16 or for tourists to visit but as locals, this is a spot you go to just out of curiosity once and never again. The drinks are overpriced and taste batch made. The kitchen messed up our order but they were nice about it and apologetic. However, my dish tasted bland and the other dish, lobster salad, was a bit rubbery and tasted old. They did pile on the lobster, which was surprising, but it made sense once you realize they're likely trying to move old product out of the kitchen before it spoils.
Beautiful setting and the service was great!!! Appetizers were good - pizza, meatball, Caesar salad. Entrees were mostly inedible - ravioli, Branzino, salmon. Would actually go back just for the setting!
It was an amazing experience & staff was great!
The food and drinks were amazing. Service was a bit cold but I had a wonderful time.
Loved the floral views however our waitress was awful. It took her 30-40 mins to even pass by our table which I waved her down to ask if we could put drinks in a while. While she stopped to take our drink order we figured we would put our food in as well seeing that other tables near us that sat after us had been serviced already. After getting our drinks she never returned to make sure everything was ok. I’m sure you can imagine the rest of our service with her did not continue in a great direction. Food was nothing memorable and we made sure to order the most expensive dishes as well as the gnocchi with lobster being that they “specialize” in gnocchi. It was Subpar at best but the restaurant decor was adorable.
Our meals were EXCELLENT and a great value; the outdoor-rooftop dining was fantastic. It was a beautiful evening to dine at Ampia and the ambience was amazing. There are definitely more trendy parts of the city to dine, but we would not hesitate to dine there again. We very nearly went back the following night we liked it so much to try other items on the menu.
Receptionist downstairs when we first enter was not very welcoming almost made us want to leave. No personality what so ever.
Terrible customer service. Food was mediocre. I read the reviews beforehand but thought I give it a try. Big mistake.
wasn’t treated respectfully by our waiter the rest of the staff was nice but he really was not friendly or kind….restaurant is very beautiful though and the food was tasty. Just wish we had better service and some music so we didn’t feel like we had to whisper
10/10 would go again
Great service, nice view, and awesome drinks!
Fantastic experience! Had a party for 14 outside and an indoor group of 4 at the same time. The service was excellent, everyone was so accommodating. The food was above expectations, great variety! The setting was really beautiful. Charming and festive in the outdoor roof space and sleek and elegant in the inside restaurant.
