I'm a frequent diner at Amsterdam but chose something I haven't had before - the Leaside salad bowl. As a recently diagnosed diabetic, my options are more limited now so thought the salad would be a good choice, despite the fact that I don't like anything pickled. I should have asked to hold the pickled vegetables as this salad was not for me. I found the salad rather boring and the vinaigrette was not particularly tasty, It ended up being quite expensive at over $21 as I added chicken ($7) which turned out to be the best part. I won't order this next time. My friend had the vegetable soup of the day with the pretzel and loved this. It was very noisy for a Tuesday lunchtime as there were a number of parties there but understandable for the time of year. I am returning on Dec 20 with a party of 9 so I expect we will be loud too! But it was hard to talk over the noise. It was still a pleasant lunch and the service was quite good.

Atmosphere was as convivial as ever The staff cheerful and helpful The restaurant as always was very clean I was not impressed with the menu which seems reduced and the entree, fish and chips, was just blah I’ll be back to give the Barrel House another try.

I had the schnitzel and the sauce on the noodles was not to my taste and was not eaten. The two burgers, salad and fries were enjoyed by others. Beers were good too. I really enjoy this place, staff a friendly, helpful, and the place is clean.

Overall a solid dependable choice. Brisket Mac &Cheese was a hit and burgers are solid. I ordered the wood fired steak med. it did not taste wood fired nor was it medium. Fries were good. Sad the the Brussel sprouts were not on the menu anymore.

Guacamole was very fresh, but thought it needed a bit of salt and more cilantro. My friend had the curry, which she indicated had good flavour. My brisket tacos seemed to lack some flavour. Our server was friendly and attentive, despite the busy dinner hour. Overall a nice location for a meal, I will try another dish next time!

The service team there is always the best. I have been going there for a while, and It is sad to see that the food quality is decreasing. Some of the food seems to be stale or precooked and served, not even warmed up properly. I hope it gets back up because it used to be the perfect go-to restaurant for us. It can be very cozy and nice. They have removed some items from the menu that I hope they bring back (brick chicken, for example). I still hold hope for this place, though at the moment I am not too happy.

When ordering food for take out, I was presented with a pizza box style take out container. Now this container would not have been an issue if I ordered a pizza or a sandwich but when you order the Herb Roasted chicken dish with creamy cauliflower rice dish that has sauces and cheese, a cardboard pizza box just doesn’t cut it. On top of the cardboard box, the food was placed on top of some serving paper which then got soggy from the rice and had to be picked out from the food. This is something that Amsterdam has to do better one. You cannot serve foods with liquids in cardboard boxes. Would you put soup in this type of box as well? For the cost of a $28 meal I would never buy this for take out.

We celebrated a young child’s birthday at the Amsterdam. Staff were really pleasant and accommodated are somewhat messy infant with good grace. The food was very good and we were very happy with our evening.

We are regulars here since it opened. We almost always get the Smokehouse burger. Unfortunately, last night we were disappointed in what we got. It used to come with a brioche bun. However, last night it was a cold potato bun according to our server. It looked more like a wonder bread bun that they ran over to Longo‘s to get. The cold bun made all the toppings cold. Please go back to the brioche bun and please make sure our food is warm. Maybe it was just a bad night because usually the food and ambience is great!

We definitely should not have served them cold, as they should be toasted for every burger, so apologies that we missed that last night. The food was good but not as good as I remember in the past. The smoked brisket tasted a bit dry and the flavour did not penetrate the meat. I would love to see a greater variety in the menu and perhaps weekly/monthly/seasonal specials. The service was competent and professional. I love sitting out on the patio in the shade. It is pleasant and quiet, so we can talk. Too bad summer is soon going to be over. I love coming to your place and I would come more often if there was greater variety in the menu. We are regulars at Amsterdam but this time we both had the Thai Curry for the first time and we really enjoyed it. It had a good variety of healthy ingredients, which is important to me as a recently diagnosed diabetic. The dish also had a great zing to it. The service was as good as usual and we enjoyed ourselves.
