Ancora False Creek
Celebrating our anniversary and thanksgiving together. Food was delicious and it was our first time there
The soup was absolutely delicious! The whole meal was a flavor explosion with each mouthful. Our waitress was very sweet and very attentive and our food was perfectly timed.
First time pisco sour! Yummo.
The only disappointment is that I mentioned it was our anniversary in the reservation and no one commented!
Our family went here for Thanksgiving. Though we had the option to go for the Thanksgiving menu, we opted for the regular menu.
Food was fantastic and one of us opted for the Old Fashioned Experience where it's made tableside. A bit pricey but awesome for special occasions.
BTW there are indoor heaters so don't be shy about coming here in the winter and taking a window seat! We went on a cold and rainy day but we were cozy throughout the meal.
First time here! Well worth the wait. Food was awesome and our server was very welcoming and patient with us considering our late arrival. 🙏💗
Will be back for more celebrations!
The only issue we jad with the restaurant is that it is very expensive, more than most high end restaurants so this would prevent is from recommending or going back. We can have all the positive aspects without the expenxe.
Great food, atmosphere and company. Patio was hot and well socially distanced. Highly recommend
We love this restaurant. However this time was a one off.
The ambience is beautiful and service was very good.
Unfortunately the food was unexpectedly disappointing.
The omakase served some very salty fishy nigiri. They were not edible.
The paella was also salty although flavourful.
Panna cotta really nice and decedant.
The view and ambience kind of made up for the expensive experience.
Really hope it's a one off.
The food offerings were different, delicious and the service was excellent. Located on the water, the restaurant is well appointed and in a marvellous location. We will definitely go back.
I took my husband and his family here for his birthday. Honestly it is a beautiful restaurant with and amazing view and really cool and unique food and drink options. We thought everything tasted delicious.
There were only two things that really bugged me in the end, which is why I am giving three stars. Like I said it was my husband's birthday dinner and beforehand, I had told them the occasion and expressed how special I wanted the night to be. When we arrived (on time) they asked us if we would like to eat outside, we said yes and they ended up seating all of us in an awkward back corner of the whole patio, and it wasn't busy at all. there were parties of two sitting on the huge tables next to water. I do not understand why we got sat in the back corner.
Second was at the end of our dinner, when we had tried many things and were obviously okay with spending money and making the evening special, I asked the waitress if she had a special birthday dessert. Something that would have a candle and birthday writing. She said yes, they did a complimentary thing. She ended up bring my husband this sad plate with a little wafer cookie, a chocolate that said happy birthday and some weird gummy. When I had looked at pictures online, people had these beautiful desserts with writing and a candle. I dont know if it was a lack of communication but after seating us at a crappy corner spot, and bringing out a crappy little dessert it honestly felt like they were treating us like second class citizens when I had no problem paying the $330 bill.
all in all those two things did not ruin the night. I will give them the benefit of the doubt especially during these times, but I am still a little hesitant and a little offended because of those two situations.
Great Lunch at Ancora. The food was delicious, ordered the Yucha fries with Huancaina, Octopus Anticucho, Crab Causas and Mixed ceviche. I would have given it a full 5 stars but the octopus anticucho had two 1/2 inch pieces of octopus lol! The Picarones for dessert is a must! Celebrated a 25 year aniversary and told them in advanced but when I got there the table was bare, no flowers, nothing special. That was a bit dissapointig but overall it was a great special lunch!
Had a nice time!
Love the false creek water views from the patio, the food is amazing too! Highly recommend the seafood towers! 🐠
I love your patio. My only regret is that patio days going forward are numbered. Sarah took care of us and she was fabulous.
We're very happy Ancora is still there in False Creek. We go for the Ceviche and the Sablefish. This time, the Sablefish was pan-fried with a sort of black sauce on it that seemed slightly burned and overpowered the fish. I guess it was an off-day. The mixed Ceviche was delicate and delicious. We'll certainly go again.
Food was so mediocre. My steak was salty and chewy. Bluwater has way better seafood tower! Service was good. Ambience is so so. The diner at the next table had his radio on and was loud. Servers didn’t do anything. We definitely won’t be returning!
The seafood was fresh but a bit overpriced. The service was not satisfactory because our server wasn’t attentive and quite cold. We expected a lot more for the price we paid.
A refreshing menu of surprises-the cerviche shooter and causas to start and any of the main courses make a splendid dinner. Interesting cocktail choices and an endless wine menu finish off a great experience.
We recently had a wonderful visit to Ancora for cocktail hour.
The drinks were lovely and amazing food as well. Prices were very reasonable and the quality outstanding. We will be back again for sure!
Another fabulous experience on your patio. It’s becoming a bit of a habit.
My Husband and are foodies , we have travelled extensivly and have eaten at a variety of places from New York to Montreal and everything in between. We started with the Yam soup, it was rich and delicate Our main course was the steak with a side of mushrooms. Our steak was tender and juicy I enjoyed every minute at this Restaurant . The Sangria was amazing and their cocktail of the evening was wonderful has well . The staff were pleasant and we look forward to coming back to this restaurant again
Just excellent service and food. Brad is lovely and I highly recommend this location. The owner and manager were present and incredibly welcoming. The level of care for their patrons and their safety lets us relax and truly enjoy the ambience and food.
Everything was superb particularly the sable fish which was absolutely to die for. Manuela was a fabulous server.
Excellent and inventive cuisine. Amazing flavours and well worth the visit. Only negative was the Pisco Sour cocktail, which was not in the Peruvian Style and tasted like lemonade.
Absolutely amazing food, ambiance and service ❤️❤️
OVER PRICE FOR SMALL PORTIONS.
HAVE DINED MANY TIMES PREVIOUSLY. Will not be back for sometime unless things improve with portion size and corkage policy changes.
Dishes were excellent; lime/scallop shooter surprisingly good; sable fish exquisite.
We were a little chilly by the patio door due to the fires blocking the sun with smoke. When we asked them to shut the doors a little they got a little worried about covid measures which is totally understandable. They closed the patio doors a bit but we would have preferred them closed. Besides that awkward moment we had a wonderful evening.
My Favorite Restaurant In Vancouver, Just Flawless
Service was not professional. Did not expect to receive this type of service at this restaurant with high reputation.
Great service and the food was outstanding! I will definitely be back in the near future.
Consistently on a multiple visits not only interesting but delicious dishes. Attentive but genuine and not overly sycophantic staff. Great space indoors or now outdoors.
Beautiful patio with friendly staff and very efficient service. The food portions are very small.
Great bday celebration. Magnificent patio.
Lovely restaurant with lovely food. Great deck for a sunny day
This restaurant was a great surprise for our 66th birthdays! Yes, Two birthdays in fact! The setting on the north side of false creek lent itself for beautiful sunset views. The food was outstanding! We had the fish tower for 4! Each item was beautifully presented and so tasty! Then we each shared a delicious main plate of sable fish that was outstanding too! Even though we weren’t staying for dessert we were presented with a small dessert to share for my husband and I who share the same birthday! The service was fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable, comical and kind ! Even the mixologist came to our table to explain drinks and I tried the pisco sour that will now be my new go to cocktail! Thanks for making our birthdays so memorable! We will be back and will tell our friends about this great restaurant! 5/5
Food and service was poor.
I’ve been to Ancora several times - but I was extremely disappointed with my recent visit.
Amazing food, view and service. Couldn't ask for more.
Beautifully presented food, with the looks overtaking the taste (unfortunately). Spacious patio in a great location. Mediocre and perfunctory service (sadly). Lots of potential, but unrealised.
excellent service excellent food
Have known Dai since he worked at the Yew/Four Seasons. He continues his excellent service. Thank you Dai
Food was delicious, but I still left with a bad taste in my mouth.
I booked this restaurant for my birthday 2 months in advance - WITH a note that it was for a special occasion/birthday. When we arrived and checked in, staff seemed frazzled as though they had given our table away. We were told we could wait for a seat outside or have a table right away inside. As there are some beautiful tables inside that you can see the water at, it was my assumption that we would have had one of those tables reserved for us as the patio is first come first served. Instead we were sat at a dark, dingy table in the corner of the restaurant. This table was directly beside 2 extra storage tables and chairs, along with extra rolled up cutlery - the WORST table in the establishment. As we were offered sparkling or flat water, my fiancé politely asked if we could be moved - to literally ANY other table that opened up. You could tell the staff serving us fully agreed with us but management told them we couldn’t be relocated due to Covid policies. We had not even received water yet so this seemed extreme. Why could they not sanitize and flip our table? We were so hidden in a sad corner, that our water was never filled after the first glass. Great food, poor service. Very disappointing for a restaurant of its caliber. Did not feel celebrated, would not recommend and won’t be back.
