Amazing place to dine. Our waiter was attentive and made us feel truly cared for. Everything was perfect, especially the uni sushi.
We would love to come again soon.
Excellent service, lovely ambience and fantastic food.
We forgot it was dine out but have to say that the dine out menu was fantastic and the portions were good sized. Beautiful restaurant and the food was amazing. And kudos on the way they have coped with the pandemic by using the plexiglass screens to separate tables without losing the vibe.
Best service ever from Crawford, and very creative dishes made with quality ingredients!
Overall average experience. Upon arriving I was greeted and then waited whilst the hostess took a lengthy phone call. While waiting, my boyfriend already returned from parking the car and joined me in waiting a while longer...after finally being seated we ordered sushi rolls and nigiri which were good, nothing amazing... again we waited at least 40 minutes before getting our first dish... wouldn’t dine here again. On a side note our server was very nice.
Sumptuous cuisines and excellent service. Gratefully it was a sunny afternoon.
Great food pretty setting and good service
We ate of the Dine out menu . I had expected so much more of an impact. We both began with the mushroom soup which was very nice. For my main course I chose the Paella and added some shrimp. Flavours were alright but not outstanding- not sure where the shrimps were- there were tiny ones mixed into the Paella but it did not add a bang. My daughter had the sushi for her main course which was not remarkable. I had been told that sushi at Ancora was devine! We both had the pane cotta which was very good.
Ancora has stepped it up. Return trip after a few months, and it just seemed like everything was fresher, tastier, great atmosphere, flowed so nicely. Well done, clearly one of the best in Vancouver, and such a beautiful setting.
Will be back. Love the Peruvian spin on meals. The gelato was delightful.
On the recommendation of a friend, my daughter and I decided to try out Ancora. Right from the onset of arriving, we felt so welcomed. We were seated at a super nice table upstairs with French doors, overlooking the main floor, which also provided some of the outside view. We tried the "Dine Out Vancouver" menu and the food was absolutely amazing. What made the whole experience exceptional, was our Server, Crawford. We have been dining at at both casual fine dining and fine dining establishments for the past year and I have to say Crawford is the best Server we have ever had. We will most definitely return and will request his section as well.
The food was spectacular! Every bite was bursting with flavour. Our waiter, Crawford and other staff were very attentive and friendly to chat with.
Overall fantastic experience.
Good service, nice food, the ceviche and soup are great, paella is okay
Perfect in every way. McAfee it a very memorable evening.
It wasn't exceptionally busy but overall service was average. Wanted to check out the dine out lunch menu. Friendly staff however for a fine dining establishment I would expect a more polished service. Service was slow and was acknowledged by the server after I politely said I wanted to move to the dessert course-I had not been given a quality check for my entree or dessert. I was left with a used soup spoon (for my entree) to use for my dessert (as my entree cutlery had not been cleared and properly transitioned to dessert). I had to ask the hostess for a dessert spoon.
The view was beautiful and the staff were pleasant (not rude) but I was disappointed by the just average service and the food. Food was average. Presentation is beautiful but the flavor profile was average to above average. The mushroom soup did not a wow flavor factor. The non traditional paella with forbidden rice was a bit confusing.
I was looking forward to the pannacotta dessert but again it was just ok. I was looking for a smoothe texture and I was getting a lot of graininess and wasn't a huge fan of the flavor profile. Overall an average experience and although it is dine out, I would expect a bit better for me to ever want to come back. I had visited for dinner years ago and I had similar impressions with regards to the food. There are other fine dining restaurants in Vancouver with much better food. I don't see myself returning.
Food was top notch, so was the service! Will definitely be back again !
Loved the experience great food great atmosphere!
Amazing restaurant. Food was best ever had. Service and atmosphere impecible
Had a reservation here with a couple of my friends. Our server was very kind and sweet, but we noticed that she wasn’t very clear for for some of the menu. She checked up on us many times to make sure we were still alright with everything which showed that she cared. The food was so delicious though and worth it for the dine-out event.
Interesting fusion of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine. Tried the sake flight which was really interesting and stafg was very informed
Liked absolutely everything! Nice cozy place with tasty food
The food was well-presented and delicious. The server was so helpful and friendly. He accommodated my dairy intolerant diet request. Would love to go back.
Very nice food and service. No problem with my service dog. Manager and server were awesome. Will come back again.
My wife and I enjoyed our set dinner at Ancora's on Valentine's Day. The food was magnificent. The choice of ingredients, preparation, and presentation were all top notch. The bigeye tuna was out of this world and the striploin was prepared right. The appetizers were also very unique.
We, however, did not feel that we had the best service possible from an establishment of this caliber.
We had problems connecting with our server. The interaction was extremely formal and to some extent, forced. Our bread basket did not arrive until we asked for it. No explanation (and no apology) was given why it was not there. Tables around us all had theirs. I asked for some horse radish to complement my striploin steak but none was brought. There were no small talks. The perfunctory "How was the food" question was asked while I was in deep conversation with my wife. My wife was not happy that we were interrupted. The bill was presented without me asking for and no explanation was given. We were merely 80 minutes into our meal!
We may visit Ancora again and hopefully, the service will improve.
ceviche and hamachi appetizers which are uncooked took 45mins
waitress did not fill water during this time
did not explain or apologize why it took so long
Great food, fun cocktail menu, beautiful view. We ate here for Dine Out Vancouver, and felt like the menu was a nice representation of the restaurant. Decent portion sizes as well for a prix fixe menu. I had the cauliflower steak and my husband the lingcod, both cooked perfectly. Service was attentive, although food arrived from the kitchen rather slowly. I would have loved to see more Peruvian dishes though, as someone who is familiar with the cuisine. It is definitely fusion (huancaina sauce, causa, picarones), but less Peruvian or Nikkei in style than I was hoping for. Perhaps their normal menu is more adventurous.
We had happy hour wine and a seafood tower. the seafood was very fresh and service was great.
I came here for my 5th anniversary with my partner. The food was great, but unfortunately it was also misleading. We came to participate in the dine out Vancouver menu that was advertised on the dine out Vancouver festival 2021 website. The options for dinner service were far greater on the dine out website compared to what Ancora was actually giving serving to patrons. Because of this, we ended up not having a dine out Vancouver experience and ordered from the regular menu. This caused our options for dinner meals to be vastly limited. Like I said, what we ended up ordering was good, but we felt mislead by Ancora because our server told us they were only serving certain things seen on the dine out menu, not everything that was presented on the actual online menu. The other problem came from the service we received. At first our server came to us and gave us help and laid out our options, but then they kept coming back without giving us any time to look at the menu and decide what we wanted. This made the experience worse. We felt hounded by the server to make choices and pressured to get add-ons or buy drinks... It honestly took out the dine out aspect and made it feel like we were being rushed. Lastly, as a token for our anniversary we were given dinky treats as a free gifts for out celebration. These treats felt very child like and almost like after dinner mints. It came off as half-assed secondary thought compared to other places we have celebrated, where we have received a free desert or a glass of champagne. Overall the quality of our main courses was great, but our service and the free "treats" were highly lack luster and felt distant in terms of appreciation for us as patrons.
Great food. Service was a bit slow and lacking in attention.
My boyfriend and I were the only guests dining in the restaurant for lunch for about 1 hour. Our server was fairly slow at taking away our finished plates. We also had a hair in our sashimi.
Our server was not as inviting or excited.
Would dine there again, just with a different server
a fusion style. by waterfront. good location for dine out
The quality of the food at Ancora is very high. The ceviche is absolutely the best we have ever had. Both meals were perfectly prepared and delicious. Service is excellent. We will return.
Great service and great food. Very sunny location. Make sure you try cocktail hour
The food here is very original and the location on the seawall deserves 5 stars. I did not give 5 starts overall because I came here for tasting the Dine Out Vancouver menu, but, when I arrived, only the cocktail menu was available (which includes very few items, most of them cold). The waiter told us about the menu when we arrived, but we were there already and we did not want to leave. Nevertheless, if I knew when I reserved, I would have certainly booked a different time. Their Dine Out page should be clearer about when the menu is available.
Nice food and place. Portions could be a little bigger.
We always have a great time at Ancora. Food is excellent and service has always been top-notch. We had the dine out menu with the wine pairings. All were excellent. We will continue to go back. Thanks for another great experience.
overall great experience! best service I’ve probably ever had! Food and drinks were delicious
Best Sablefish in Vancouver, oysters as sweet as nectarines, and wine list of dstinction
Great experience. Great food and service. Reasonable prices
