The appetizer platter and ceviche was to die for. Not so keen on ordering a G and T and having to pay for the tonic, too, but it tasted fab so I’ll get over it.

Really nice restaurant, bright and light when flooded by the afternoon sunlight. Attentive service, great selection of cocktails and wines by the glass, well executed food.

Outstanding ambiance, service and views across to Granville Island. The food (ceviche, sashimi, seared tuna) was stunning and perfectly seasoned. The wine selection was enormous. Amazing experience for a special occasion.

The sunset view on the patio was spectacular. The food was creative and delicious. When we go out we look for something we couldn't make at home. Our meals blew that standard away! Get the dessert with pickles. Just do it. Our server was over-seated with some demanding tables but he worked hard to make sure we had the service we came for even though our bill was't as high as others'. We'd happily return.

The food and presentation fresh and spectacular; especially the sushi perfectly balanced. View, ambiance beautiful. Our waitress Tasha was very attentive and thoughtful. Recommend not pairing the dessert dark chocolate mousse with strawberry as it wasn’t sweet enough and cocoa dark chocolate did not come through. Pair with passionfruit or even raspberry, blood orange or gooseberries. It was more like 55percent dark chocolate and I was hoping to taste 70 -75 percent dark chocolate. Seasoned and lemongrass ice-cream fell flat. Everything else excellent. Thank you. We will return again despite dessert not as good as we wanted.

The food and experience was great! Our server, Jeremy P, was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations all around (2nd time we had him serve us). He was a very pleasant guy and i saw every table like him! The sable fish really fell off with now effort... the white table cloth is our witness. Thanks again!

A gentleman on the water taxi recommended this restaurant. My boyfriend and I travel and dine out often and I would put this place in my top ten. Outstanding service and the food was delicious. We sat outside overlooking the water and it was a lovely setting. If you are visiting Vancouver I highly recommend this restaurant. My boyfriend loved his branzino and my duck was cooked to perfection.

That night they definitely had a service issue, very slow and inattentive! Maybe they did not expect nice weather and consequently patio open....and therefor not enough staff....they usually do better

This restaurant was recommended by friends and it was great. The food was outstanding. The waiter was terrific as well. The fare is Japanese/Peruvian infused food. It was unusual combination however it was a pleasant surprise. We would definitely go back.

My husband and I keep coming back to this restaurant or bring friends here because the excellent food and service are always consistent. We had their seafood appetizer platter (Ancora Glacier) and everything tasted very fresh. I had the lobster risotto and it rivals any fresh Italian risotto but with very fresh and generous portions of lobster. The ambiance was also breathtaking because it was a sunny spring day and we sat at the outdoor patio.

We ordered sablefish and it took over 40min for it to arrive. We sat down at 7:30. It was 9pm when I complained about entree taking too long. I was supposed to be home to put my son to bed at 10pm. The manager took both our sablefish off the bill and said it doesn’t usually take this long. Besides that everything else was fantastic. Everything tasted great, beautiful view.

The ceviche wasnt fresh. The chef replaced it with a better one but blamed it on “the new guy”. Great patio.

It doesn't get any better than Ancora. The food is spectacular as is the service and wine list. It's not inexpensive for Vaancouver but if you eat in very good European restaurants then Ancora is a bargain.

Their prawn tempura roll was, in a word, divine. The rice was such a nice consistency and the bite as a whole was so delicious. The crispy prawn with yucca was so interesting and a flavourful bite. Lastly, I had the green salad which was refreshing and crisp. Bartender made custom drinks that we loved. Service was good. We are going back soon!

I had dinner here with a friend to celebrate my birthday. I really wanted to like Ancora, but I’m still scratching my head trying to figure out how this restaurant has such good reviews. I understand that taste is subjective and I usually don’t bother writing reviews, but I was so incredibly disappointed with our meal.

We ordered the glacier, fried soft shell crab, premium big eye tuna sashimi (on special), scallop causas (on special), the scallops and pork belly, and sable fish entrees. The glacier was nothing special. As far as seafood platters go it was pretty underwhelming. Our sashimi was good, but it’s not like they had to do much there. Our soft shell crab was so soggy we didn’t even finish it. The abuti scallops over squid ink potatoes was a glorified potato salad. The entrees were just weird. Pork belly and sable fish were bland... And consider myself an adventurous eater, but, in my humble opinion, flavours made no sense. Best things we had all night were the complimentary macarons and shortbread cookies that came with the bill. Our server was great though, no complaints there.

As far as fine dining goes in Vancouver, you’re MUCH better off at somewhere like Botanist. I’d rather eat at a mall food court. Strong words, I know, but let me save you the disappointment and your money—Go somewhere else.

The sablefish is the best in the city (I used to say West) and absolutely melts in your mouth. We sampled three entrees (one seafood, one land and one vegetarian) which were all terrific - well balanced, beautifully presented and wonderful flavour. Save room for inventive desserts - who knew crunchy quinoa bits could be so tasty atop black sesame?

Experience at Ancira was as always outstanding :)
However, realized next morning that valet attendant took the set of keys for 2 of my apartments that were kept in enclosed middle console ??!? Still waiting for a valet company to follow up :(
