Everything was great, except that the music was much too loud for a restaurant of this high quality.
It was for an anniversary and they were very sweet to put a card with congratulations to your anniversary written. The sable fish was very good better than I had in blue water. Steak was not excellent but acceptable. Thank you.
We were well taken care of by our server Elizabeth, the food was exceptional and authentic, my wife was extremely pleased with all aspects of Ancora.
The food was fresh and tasty. All the dishes (from appetizer to desserts) were flavourful and delicious without being unnecessarily rich. Excellent service by all staff.
The place might be a bit loud for business meals. But I will definitely recommend this place to my friends.
The food and wine was amazing
Went twice for the DineOut Vancouver, very impressed with the mix of Japanese/Peruvian fusion, not authentic, but close enough. Second time, the pasta dish I was coming back for, did not turn out great , the pasta and sauce over cooked, soft, dark color and dry, not good. The rest it was consistently good.
Have been wanting to try Ancora for a while now. Took advantage of the Dine Out deal. Will have to return to savour their regular items!
Great experience all round, superb wine list-especially champagne section, prix fix dine out menu very good, need to come try the regular menu as it was not offered, friendly staff and professional, great waterfront views
Unfortunately we made a reservation for this restaurant in Dec 17 for a lunch in late Jan 18. On arrival at the restaurant we were informed they were not open this week. No comms or anything before arrival.
Nice food, flavours mild. Original plate presentation.
The food at Ancora is always delicious and never disappoints.
We went for dine out menu. We both had albacore tuna, nothing much special about it. Presentation was just basic, they can do better. However, the main course was good. We both have braised beef.
Service was ok, I think he tried too hard to impress. Keep calling us my “dear” my “dear”, I found it’s bit inappropriate, probably it’s his style. Trying to hard.
Service was ok, we finished our main course and had to wait for the dessert, server was no where to find, same thing happen after the dessert. He had to serve table on main floor and second floor, which was the reason he was no where to find.
Probably will go back just for regular menu, give them another try.
George our host was great! Food beautifully presented.
The server was really nice
We came here early dinner and seated second floor on weekend. I like the atmosphere of this restaurant. However, next to our table, four people are seating already and they were crowded because two kids couldn’t sit still. After they left, next customer also kids and parents. I guess, the seat is for the family who bring kids. I tried to keep smiling at my partner and tried to enjoying “romantic “ dinner . But it was difficult and I felt pretty disappointed. It was nice dinner and I would like to come back here but no toddler next to our table. I need to tell the restaurant that give us quieter table.
I had brunch here on a foggy Sunday when the most attractive view was the food on my plate. I had a hard time choosing between the duck cassoulet made with confit de canard, Peruvian beans (like cannellini but brown), chorizo, and poached eggs; and the paella croqueta, made with sablefish croquettes, Peruvian corn, chorizo, shrimps, adobo huancaina, and poached eggs. In the end, I opted for the former with the two most perfectly poached eggs I have experienced.
Great seafood restaurant with nice views
We were expecting better food at a restaurant like this one, but the food was very salty. I don't usually drink ice water, but I ended up having 3 glasses before the entrée. When the waiter asked about the food, I told him about the problem, and he asked which plate. I told him the first one is the octopus that was very salty, and the other one was the sauce. He only said that sauce is supposed to be salty and ignored the octopus. When he came back to grab our plates, my friend didn't even finish our appetizers because of the problem, but he didn't even ask, and he should have noticed something was wrong since he refilled my glass of water twice already. Anyways, everything including the entrée was salty. My friend and I both agreed we wouldn't try this restaurant again.
Everything was great! Excellent service and wonderful food made for a terrific evening. It was a really optimum location to celebrate our son’s recent promotion.
We were waiting for the food almost 1 hour, the chicken and waffle was very oily.
The food was just amazing same as the service. Absolutely recommend it.
We went for brunch to hear Gabriel ( horn player) and Meetup with friends. The service was great ! The crab Benny was very difficult to eat as the crusty bread could not be cut through with a knife. We asked for steak knives... still couldn’t saw through. Has the chef tried eating the crab Benny? We had to pick the bread part up and chew it after scraping the poached eggg off .The flavours were very good ... maybe different bread
Delicious food and beautiful restaurant. My partner and I absolutely loved the variety of dishes available - great place for a date night!
Good food and good service.
It was a cold and rainy November night I want to come back in the summer great food and atmosphere
great food, great service and great halibut. great for date and family dinners
We live very close to Ancora and have never been disappointed with the food and service of this fantastic restaurant. The staff is very knowledgeable and professional. We will definitely go back and so will our friends whom we have introduced to this neighbourhood gem.
The restaurant is taking advantage of its location. Seafood platter is a rip-off and not fresh. Appetizers and entrees are nicely presented but the sable fish comes with a big chunk of turnip which seems deceiving for the portion. If you are looking for fine dining seafood, I suggest Blue Water Cafe or Five Sails for a more genuine experience.
Good food, good service, good drinks.
One of the best over all experiences we've had in Vancouver
