So disappointed to have this replace Mandu.
As always, the food and the service at Anju were impeccable. We really valued our server’s excellent recommendations and advice.
Anju's food never disappoints and because of this it's always a top choice when entertaining for work. This time however, service was surprisingly poor. I got the impression our waitress was quite new to this role in general and hasn't yet learned how to support without being intrusive (i.e. interrupting quite abruptly the table conversation as well as reaching across everyone to grab empty dishes etc. without any grace and while making quite a lot of noise.) We also waited a long time to order and receive drinks as well as food.
Won't hold it against them but highly recommend this waitress do more shadowing to learn the finer points of how to provide a great service experience.
Best restaurant in town, hands down.
Service and suggestions were awesome too
Amazing food! Everything was devine. Will go back for sure.
The food was great ! Service outstanding! I have celiac and there are many potions and a dedicated deep fryer as well ! Best wings in the city !! Will go back!!
I had the kfc chicken sliders and a korean lunch set with pork belly as the protein. I loved both the sliders and the bowl. There was just enough spice on the sliders and the chicken was crispy outside, but tender and juicy inside - perfectly cooked.
In the lunch set the sweetness of the pickled vegetables played really well with the briny and pungent kimchi. The acid from the vegetables cut the richness of the porkbelly. The dumplings and pork belly were flavorful, and the fried egg on top added the perfect creamy counterbalance to the acidic notes of the vegetables and kimchi. All together a really well balanced and filling meal.
The service was also very friendly and attentive. I also loved that they had lychee as a juice option. I would highly recommend anyone to try Anju and will definitely come back next time I'm in Calgary.
Friendly service and fantastic food made our experience a very positive one. The unique flavour combinations in each and every dish were delightful. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and the seafood ramen nest bowl - amazing presentation on the ramen bowl. The chicken skins, while very good, are a bit heavy so much better to share as we couldn’t eat more than two pieces each. Also had the tofu, kfc sliders and the oysters. Still plenty of food I’d like to try on the menu so I will definitely be back for more.
Great Korean fusion food and exceptional service. Would go back.
The food and beverage selections were both amazing and our waiter was very helpful.
Amazing ambience and most definitely impeccable selection of food and drinks menu.
Service is just amazing, especially for birthday celebration night this time round.
never disappointed when I come here. Love the food, love the ambiance.
Sushi wrap was tough, food is overpriced
The service was poor and the food was ok. For the price point there are much better places in the city.
I order sliders and a Buddha beer as I sit down. Sparkling water is great, but need those sliders as soon as I come in.
It's pricey, especially given you can get real Korean food downtown for a third the the price, but it is so good.
The acoustics are loud, but the decor is what I wish my home could feel like.
Anju did not disappoint! This is our go to restaurant, we have never had a bad experience here. This is the first time we brought our friends who have a gluten allergy and they were impressed that there were so many gluten free options that were delicious!
We ordered drinks then told our server to feed us and we enjoyed several delicious share plates over about an hour. Only complaint was service which was a bit slow given there were few diners. Still love Anju though, one of my favourites.
Each share plate was incredible and the combination made for an unforgettable evening, well accompanied by a BC Chardonay. Perfect end to our Alberta trip before returning to Toronto. Highly recommended.
We ordered the deep fried chicken skins and ox tail ravioli to start. They were delicious! My husband got the salt spring mussels which he said was good. I got the baked kimchi fried rice, which was alright.
The cocktails were outstanding.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the service. The waitress wasn’t very friendly. But we did show up 15 minutes early for our reservation and were seated quite quickly.
To be honest, I went into this expecting the experience to be better than other less fancy Korean Restaurants, however it wasn’t really special. With exception of the drinks and environment I’d consider it average in terms of flavour and service.
Great food ... service was subpar. Waited for a few of our items and only when reminded did they arrive at our table. I’ve been before and always had great service, the food, drinks & company made up for the wait!
Visit to Calgary with family and this place was recommended by my nephew. Very good! Totally enjoyed the cuisine!
Just amazing!! Staff was great from the second you walk in til you leave
Service really lacked, we had to ask 4 different servers every time we needed something, and it was unclear as to who our actual server was.
Always a fantastic meal at Anju. They never disappoint!
Anju didn’t disappoint. The food and service were fantastic. I don’t think we were ready for the quantity of food and now know to bring more people. The restaurant staff were also super accommodating and held onto our reservation despite us saying we were running late. Definitely would go back.
I was charged $1 for a plastic container to take my sauce home. The sauce that came with my meal. I was not charged for my takeout container to take my left over food home from the meal that I paid for so why was I charged to take my sauce home? The trainee waiter did it. Trainees need to be trained better to not make such ridiculous mistakes. I disagree with being forced to pay tips just because my table had 6 people. Tips should be the discretion of the customer. If it's horrible service then zero tips should be given. There would be the same number of servers if my table was split up into 2 tables of 3 so forced tips makes absolutely no sense. The stools were difficult and uncomfortable to sit on. Thanks for the complimentary oysters but I won't be coming back and I definitely won't be recommending this restaurant to any of my friends or family.
Omg, the Summer Feast menu is outstanding! The tempura mushrooms were my favourite, I could have drank the vinegar sauce that accompanied them, that good! The skirt steak burrito was so fun and delicious with house made kimchi and the peach/pear dessert was so beautiful! Get it while you can!
Excellent summer feast menu that we didn’t know was going on and it turned out fabulous!
Anju is hands down my favorite restaurant in the city. We always have an outstanding experience every time. The food is next level, the service is always great and the expediting of the food it’s always very quick even if the restaurant is full. Thank you for always providing us with an amazing experience!
Amazing dinner spot in Calgary! Highly recommend!!
Fantastic food, fun environment, good value, passionate server. Every dish was delicious, but the oxtail tortellini AND mussels really stood out. Definitely not "cheap", but it is great quality and it wasn't outrageously priced for dinner and drinks during a fancier night out.
Delicious food with great flavours. Loved the fusion of the food and the creativity.
Service seemed like we waited for an extended time for an appetizer but the server tried his best to make up for it. Overall food was great and everything else made up for it
This was our first visit to Anju and we were very impressed with everything. Our waitress was very pleasant and took time to explain everything to us, the surroundings are upscale and the food was terrific. Can’t say enough good things about this restaurant; we’ll definitely be going back and highly recommend.
Love the food, great service!
Food was delicious as always!
Amazing food, fantastic service!
We tried eight different dishes and every one of them was phenomenal!
Makes for a great date night! We had the special dinner for two and had a delicious samplings of food sourced from across Canada.
Great meal as usual. Do not miss the beef tataki or the oxtail tortillini
I had expected significantly better Korean inspired fusion. The food was quite average with slow service and mediocre drinks. I would not recommend Anju to anyone or anticipate returning there.
