   Our server was fine, but did nothing more than the bare minimum, which is not what we’ve come to expect when we dine in New Orleans at a nice restaurant. The food was fine, nothing stellar, the drinks were good (both people in the party got cocktails and then a glass of wine). The desserts were fine, too - the flourless chocolate cake was too rich to finish. No one thanked us or said goodbye as we left. The two servers on the floor seemed a little stressed even though there weren’t even 7 tables when we left. I feel like larger parties often understand that service may be a little slower, so we didn’t understand the concern on their part. We probably won’t be back, if only because there are so many other nice restaurants we haven’t tried yet.

   Disappointed. Limited menu. Skin on salmon is fowl tasting and leads me to believe there are lazy people in the kitchen. Remove the skin and cut out the blood line and you have a superior dish. At least offer it. Otherwise the food is too heavy and too rich - scollop dish and shrimp and grits dish.

   We were in New Orleans for our daughter’s graduation from Tulane. We are their twice; once for brunch and once for dinner. The food is amazing as well as the service. Cooper was our server and also the restaurant’s mixologist. When we asked him about a gin cocktail, he told us about one game had been developing. This did not disappoint! It is a smaller restaurant, so as it filled the noise level increased but this is by no means a deal breaker. Apolline is a must!

   They informed us when we sat down that the kitchen was short ha nded. The honesty was much appreciated. Drinks came quickly and the wait staff was hustling.

   What happened? That is the question my wife and I were asking ourselves when we returned to Apolline. In the past, our meals had been just great but on this recent visit it was as though we were in a different restaurant entirely. The soup was so full of cayenne that I had to send it back. The expensive "diver scallops" main course had only three, smallish scallops that were swamped by a huge servicing of flavored corn and shrimp. In fact there were more shrimp than scallops and everything's flavor was shrouded with too much cayenne. While our waiter, Michael, was just great -- working hard and absorbing our disappointment -- he was the ONLY waiter so timely service was impossible. I hate to say it, but the place also smelled like it needed a good cleaning, but perhaps that was transitory....hard to tell. Our meal stretched over 2+ hours which was excessive. On the positive side: the cocktails we had were creative and tasty, with a good balance of showing off the essence of the liquors while introducing other flavors. I think we will give Apoline a pass until they can get their act together.Maybe we will return for drinks at the bar first and then see how it goes.

    Our appetizers were great: arugula salad, jambalaya dumplings, poutine. Ordered lamb ragu as entree and disappointed by lack of flavor after great first courses. Fellow diners loved the veal and pork chop. Great bread pudding recommended by our waitress who was attentive and friendly. The real criticism of the restaurant is the crazy noise level which makes it hard to hear each other. Need some noise canceling measures to make it less of a problem

    We recently dined at Apolline with 2 couples visiting from DC. Only two out of 6 people were pleased with their meal. Terrible ambience and sub par food. Don’t bother.

    I went to Apolline because they have one of the best burgers in the city. However, they were out of the burger on our visit. This is a great brunch spot for folks who like brunch everyday of the week. The menu choices are "heavy" with egg items, which I am not the biggest fan. So, I had the chick and waffles, which was okay. My brunch date had the Eggs Apolline and it was thoroughly enjoyed by them. The cocktail menu is great if you have time for day drinking!

    The quality of the food has gone down a bit. It was extremely quiet. No background music or anything. Only about 3 tables were occupied. Nothing I ordered was memorable. This was one of my favorites at some point. Not so much anymore. I had strand of hair wrapped around my bacon. It was fixed immediately. But disappointing to say the least.

    We were visiting New Orleans for the weekend and this restaurant was a nice walk from our hotel. We were interested in "southern" cuisine and we were not disappointed. The wine selection was very good and priced reasonably. My husband had the shrimp and grits and I had the crawfish bisque and arugula salad. We also enjoyed the cheese tray as an appetizer (would feed 4!). All of the food was excellent - flavorful, fresh and we enjoyed every bite. Our server was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. We highly recommend Apolline.

    The service was wonderful. The staff was attentive. The food was delicious. We had the fried green tomatoes, pork belly , the pork chop and scallops! All done to perfection. Sadly we had no room for the chocolate cake. The wine selection by the glass was well chosen and paired well with the menu. Overall we had a lovely dinner and experience in a charming and elegant space. We will be back!

    Nice bar. We would have preferred a choice for an “oaked” Chardonnay, had to settle for unoaked. There were only 3 other tables filled - but we waited an hour for our food (once ordered) - and speculated that the chef had to fish for the food him/herself. It was however very good. We selected this restaurant based on a description in “38 Essential restaurants on Magazine Street.” Not sure this one is essential given the long wait but the food and ambience were very nice. Would recommend with the above caveats.

    The bread and 3 of the 4 entrees were notably salty. It is a busy time around Mardi Gras and maybe they just had a rough day. It took an hour and a half after we ordered entrees until they arrived at the table. The duck appeared to have only 2 small duck slices about an inch long each. The wine and fried green tomatoes were good. Pork belly serving size was about 2 bites. Decor was appealing. Maybe on a different night it would have been a better experience.
