Wonderful food and ambience. The duck pasta was out of this world . Truly enjoyed chatting with Roberto the chef/owner after dinner. Will be back soon!
A lovely evening with excellent food. Only hiccup was that the chef refused to substitute another vegetable for asparagus on the side of the short rib special. Not sure why the pretension? But the service was good and the meal delicious. Quiet enough for civilized conversation despite being a full house. I would definitely recommend.
Enjoyed our evening but not sure I will go back. There are ABSOLUTELY NO substitutions. You can’t even buy a substitution (i.e: one type of vegetable substituted for another) I don’t restaurant’s that are so regimented. They should be more concerned about their guests satisfaction.
Great new find in Toronto. Staff was amazing . Food so tasty and great wine list. Thanks for accommodating us before our WSET3 course. We will be back ! And I’ve already told many people about this gem
Went to lunch with my friend who is from out of town. I had heard a lot about the restaurant but it didn’t really live up to the hype. It was just okay.
We have gone to Ardo many times before and thought it was outstanding. The last evening we went, the food was good, but not up to its usual standard of excellence
Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, wonderful service, reasonable prices for decent sized meals! Would definitely come back for more :)
Ardo has a lovely atmosphere. The staff are friendly. The cocktail menu is different and awesome. cosy place to get together with friends.
Had the rib eye between 3 people, was a little more rare than anticipated but the quality of the meat was so good that we hardly noticed. Great service, great wine and very reasonably priced.
The food was cold! This is unusual. And our server was subpar, also unusual. I dine here a fair bit, not a great visit.
I have dined at ARDO 3 times since it opened. Once with a friend, once on a date and the most recent time with a group of 5 for my birthday. I highly recommended this place to my friends and this time, it fell flat. The food was different this time around and not as authentic tasting and was more oily than before. The chef came out to see how everything was, and upon finding out it was by birthday, brought us some complementary port and a dessert, which was really nice.
The most noteworthy disappointment of the night was our server. She was very cold towards us and seemed almost annoyed when asked to do anything. For example, when we asked for bread for the table, she told us we had to pay for it, which was fine. Then she brought the bread out and there was only 4 pieces, but there were 5 of us at the table, when I asked her for another piece of bread she quipped "well it's bottomless so...its not a problem." Well it kind of is a problem because right now 1 person doesn't have bread. She went to place a candle on our table (coming from behind me) and I accidentally knocked her hand, which put the candle out. She tisked at my and rolled her eyes, like how annoying it was that she had to re-light the candle. She then also forgot to ring in one of our items, so we didn't receive that for dinner (the whole table was sharing items). She only smiled at us once, when the Chef was at our table checking in on us.
All in all, this was nothing like past experiences I had at ARDO, and I was disappointed.
Everything was wonderful. The olive oil that they serve with the bread was so amazing that I bought a bottle at the end of the meal. You do have to pay for the bread though.
The reason service was given 4 stars was because although the waiter had a very exotic Italian accent when describing the specials for the day, none of us at the table could understand a word he said, and as a result, we didn't order any of the specials. Maybe an extra printed sheet or a chalkboard for the daily specials would help?
Delicious all around. Serve felt new, but delivered everything perfectly so all was good. Servings were reasonable, but everything was so delicious I actually wanted more!!! Took home a jar of pepporocino 🤤
Ardo is within walking distance of our condo but we would happily drive if we lived farther away. Every dish we have tasted has been delightful. The gnocchi are exquisite. The dinner salad carciofo is perfection. The daily pizza specials are fantastic. The servers are friendly and helpful. The ambiance is pleasing in every way. Sitting at the bar in the back of the restaurant where you can watch and interact with the chefs is a special treat.
The service is great but the food is better!
Try the gnocchi and thank me later!
Love this restaurant. Delicious pizza and pasta and really good service!
Not much authentic real southern Italian in Toronto and this has been the case forever. It is great to have this as a option among the best. Was there on a cold Monday night and it was 3/4's full. Nice bistro-like buzz. Octopus was sensational, pastas were also first class and perfectly proportioned. Well-informed wine list. Service was responsive although I think we had a rookie but she was pleasant if not fully informed.
The service is always terrific. Daily specials are very imaginative and good wine list.
Food was absolutely amazing!
We were pleased with the quality of the food (Sicilian), wine and the service. They charge for bread, but it is tasty. They bring a small dish of olive oil that is very peppery, a trait of Sicilian olive oil. We had cannoli for dessert and they were excellent.
Ardo is a great break from the usual Italian fare. One of the best restaurants in the St. Lawrence Market Area.
Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Home made pasta was excellent and cooked "al dente" the way pasta should be cooked. The appetizers where shared and a great way to taste them. I could have eaten all of them myself.
Definitely booking again !
The Sicilian wine we picked was perfect with the meal!
Great atmosphere- great service and mediocre food.
We ordered the specials and none of them were excellent.
Several vegetarian options on the menu - which was nice.
Don’t think we will give it a second try due to price and quality of meal. Too bad because we loved the ambience of the restaurant!
Very nice and friendly place with truly professional staff and creative menu. Good vegetarian options! Good place for people interested in tasting less than most popular Italian wines! A bit pricey, but it's possible to find items with reasonable prices.
Ardo's is an excellent, Sicilian restaurant, very conveniently located at
King E. and Sherbourne St. The recent improvements to public transit
on King Street have reduced the amount of offensive private vehicle
traffic noise, smells, and visual pollution, making Ardo's even better.
Everything we have tried on their menu is excellent - home-style cooking,
house-made pasta, excellent cuts of meat, and Sicilian-sourced flour,
olive oil, etc., combine with Roberto's care and experience to make
Ardo's an excellent place for relaxing and memorable dinners.
The wine list serves well, and the level of attention by staff is
welcome, but unobtrusive. Like many of the better restaurants
in Toronto, the atmosphere is easy-going and unpretentious.
Desserts, especially (for me) the cannoli, wrap it all up quite nicely.
The dinner was a really nice hipster type of Italian bistro place – very busy with boomers and genX’ers, the food was really good – we had a couple of appetizers and shared a large pizza, and had a couple of nice drinks. The staff was quite attentive, food was really good – great place to go, we’ll probably try to go back once it’s a little warmer!
Great meal! Delicious dessert. They were out of lamb so two of our guests ordered the steak which took a bit longer to prepare but well worth the wait. Amazing staff and chef. Highly recommend 👍🏼👍🏼
Very good food. Sicilian options. Arancini and Octopus Salad were delicious. Gnocchi with mushrooms! Heavenly. Unfortunately my husband did not care for his pasta with sardines. I think it’s an acquired taste.
Get the Cannolo!
Found the restaurant ok but nothing special. No reasonably priced wine. Took out my son for his birthday so splurged on the wine otherwise would not have spent $70 on a bottle. Tables are small. Food was nothing special, overall expensive night only positive was my company. My big test, would I return?.....no
Great atmosphere but did not have enough gluten-free main course options .
Delicious and fresh ingredients in every dish we tried. The apps are small but the mains are totally shareable. Must have: the gnocchi was the best ever and the melanzana was incredible.
Great restaurant. One of Toronto’s best secrets. Great waitstaff- attentive , friendly, and professional. The food is outstanding. Very small place so make sure you have a reservation. Will come back for years as long as they keep it the same as it has always been!
Warm hearty pasta on a freezing January night <3 so delicious!
We enjoyed our dinner here.
Cocktails were good. Paper plane was perfect. Aperol spritz could've been much more bitter. The ratio was not to our liking. Still, refreshing.
Wine was good.
Started with arancini. For $11 you get one, small arancini. It's delicious - but overpriced. We had the sardines as well. They were good.
Next, spicy sausage and rapini pasta. Delicious. Husband had the ragu. It was good - but not nearly saucy enough for our liking. We went there specifically to try their ragu. In Italy - ragu needs bread and a spoon to sop it all up. Pasta was cooked perfectly. I would skip the ragu or ask for more sauce.
Salad was well seasoned.
Cannoli was yummy. Good coffee, and decent grappa. Served in sweet old fashioned glassware.
Service was excellent. The servers really know about the food and wine.
Overall - a good dinner. It was on the expensive side. With tip and all the above food and drink it was about $230.
Would be interested to see what their spring menu brings.
decent food with reasonable price! Their pasta is freshly made, it so delicious!! All my friends love their food, highly recommend to all my friends!!! And the cocktails are tasty, the waitress's recommendation is very nice too!
Did not find food to be creative. Asked for one modification of an ingredient (due to pregnancy), waitress said they "could", but "the chefs don't like making modifications". Gnocchi was dry, as was the octopus. Asked for chilli oil, which never showed up. In general, would not go back or recommend considering there are so many better Italian restos in town.
I had heard so much about this place and was excited to try only to have a not very good experience. the food was surprisingly not good and when my dinner companion informed the server, she appeared confused and did not know what to do. The food was undercooked and we asked her to inform the chef. We were very surprised that we barely received an apology let alone a "good will" gesture of having the particular item "comped".
The service was very poor. Felt like the male server (with a beard) did not want to be there. I will not be coming back. Good luck!!!!
Spectacular food, great service, what more could you ask for?
This was our second visit. Both times we equally outstanding.
