Unfortunately, since this is now my 5th visit (my last one was for a milestone birthday celebration with several friends) the kitchen was completely off. The restaurant was not 1/5 full so perhaps it was a second string performance.

Not my first time here - had lunched with my husband some months ago and we shared a chicken soup with matzoh ball and pastrami sandwich - both excellent. Dinner this time consisted of bread (soft, chewy centre with nice salty crust), Caesar salad (fabulous anchovy dressing in just the right quantity), frites (perfectly golden brown as requested) and dessert of caramelized pineapple w/ passionfruit sorbet and coconut were, each and every one, outstanding. However - and this is a big black mark: the kitchen apparently could not cook the 'classic' hamburger medium rare as requested. Had to send the first overcooked order back and the second was only slightly less well cooked. I could not face sending it back a second time since I did not wish for my dining companion to eat alone. Kitchen really needs to pull up it's socks on this one or else advise clients of the limitations. Drinks were decent to good as expected but oh so very costly! The service was generally very good - attentive and friendly - perhaps somewhat too friendly. My only real criticism is my server, after introducing himself, then asked my name and wanted to shake my hand. I am a woman of a certain age and found that level of familiarity quite off-putting. I am a client of the establishment, NOT a friend and I expect professionalism, NOT chumminess. In this situation, we are NOT equals and if this makes me an old fuddy-duddy (or something worse) then I fully embrace the description. The ambiance of the main dining room is fine though a little on the cold side from a decor and lighting perspective. Candlelight would soften the place. Next time, I think we'll stick with booths in the bar.

We booked in order to try the winterlicious menu with friends only to arrive and be told it is not available on the weekend and there is only brunch. No note of that ahead of time on their website or here, but fine. Brunch itself was overpriced and not great. Our friends waited a long time for a bodum of coffee that barely held two cups and was priced at $20... french toast was burnt on the outside and plain bread on the inside... other dishes were ok but overpriced. The room was packed and so the place is clearly popular, but we would not recommend it.

I thinks it's got great atmosphere and service. I also love the ambience of the cocktail bar and having a drink before dinner in the elegant dining room. I think it is a classy and beautiful place. The service was very good too. My only criticism would be it's incredibly expensive and the food is pretty good but not incredible for the price. It's a great evening out - just know you are going to lighten your wallet:)

I liked the food and the atmosphere. Curiously there was a heavy base playing somewhere near the dining room which was a bit annoying. Our server was pleasant but somewhat obsequious. She would also disappear for long stretches. I think they are still working out the kinks. But I will be back.

We dined here two weeks in a row and the experience was worth raving about! The food was excellent and the service was polished, attentive and consistent. The second time we returned, we were greeted with servers who remembered not only our visit from the previous week but our wine choice and where we sat as well. Really and truly a great dining experience, in the classic and traditional sense. A new favourite place!

The service was terrible. The hostess was very unfriendly when I arrived 10 minutes early (in a snowstorm) and was told that the Dining room wasn’t ready. I asked if I could sit in the waiting area and she kind of shrugged and. Made me feel like an inconvenience. We waited for a very long time for service as different servers wandered back and forth from our table. Long gaps in service having to flag staff down. Servers coming over before we ordered basically acting like do you want something? The place was empty too so it was a lack of attention not a result of a busy Sunday. Food was just ok. Fourth visit. It will be a while before I return if ever.
