This little bar was quite the treat. The ambience was clean and welcoming, service was very attentive and friendly, and the food was very high quality. I have to give a shout out to the people that kept me company that evening. David, one of the many managers, was extremely kind and went out of his way to get me the infamous LOUIX LOUIS 13 layer chocolate cake (which was divine!). Peter, a man with an extremely bright smile and welcoming service, he was outstanding and full of fun stories. Maude, the best bartender I have encountered, was my favorite of all. Even though she had he night full of hustling customers, she still found the time to entertain me with her stories and to listen to mine. If you ever have the time to visit this restaurant I would highly recommend visiting these wonderful people and of course trying their food!

The service was great. They did not rush the service and explained everything they were serving. They even accommodated a last minute allergy request with grace! The food was delicious and beautifully presented. This lounge is in the lobby of the hotel so it did start to get noisier as people came in for after work drinks. A reservation is definitely needed as the space is not large and the full tea service takes time.

I was looking forward to this afternoon tea but was majorly disappointed. The menu was trying so hard to not be stuffy traditional afternoon tea food, that it was so far away from anything resembling afternoon tea. The cakes/desserts were too sweet and the savoury selections did not even give a nod to any of the traditional sandwiches you would normally get on an afternoon tea menu. But they do serve Sloan Tea so that was good. Plus with it being in the lobby Astor lounge it was rather noisy and at one point they started vacuuming the lobby carpets so not the best for ambiance. Perhaps they should consider adding some sound absorbing moveable room dividers or maybe move afternoon tea to another area in the hotel. If you are looking for a afternoon tea with a bit more nod to the traditional try the tea at The Ritz Carlton on Wellington (the sister hotel of the St Regis) The St Regis staff were very welcoming, helpful and accommodating.

Great dining experience and the afternoon tea sets looked spectacular. The lounge is situated behind the reception area, we had really nice sofa seats in the corner. Staff was very courteous. Only negative is that since it’s located in the main floor, there were a lot of flies and fruit flies, which downplayed part of the experience since we had to swat away flies while having our food during our conversations.

Overpriced for what it actually is. Located directly behind the hotel front desk area, so there’s a bit of commotion all the time, which takes away from a quiet, calm tea. Great customer service, but definitely not worth the price.

This whole "high" tea experience was sub-par. It took 20 minutes before a server arrived at our table. The server who arrived seemed like it was her 1st day. She was unsure, no confidence and couldn't accurately answer a question. We pre-booked in advance as a party of 4, with 3 vegan. I called to confirm that a vegan tea was, in fact, available. So, imagine our surprise when the scones arrived all in one basket and when we asked if they're vegan, not sure, she would check. She returned with claiming that the kitchen was busy, and didn't answer the phone, but she didn't think the scones were vegan. She undertook to find out again. This time she came back with a "no", the 8 scones sitting at our table were not vegan, but she thought the chef at Louis Louis could assist with a replacement. A manager brought over our teas, but forgot tea cups, so we waited again for our server to return, and again she was a deer in headlights as to why we didn't have tea cups. She returned with our tea towers, which were large and bulky (not enough room at our small pushed-together tables). Some vegan tea items were creative and delicious, while others lacked creativity and showed poor planning. How basic is a bowl of fresh-cut strawberries? Then our server returned with our scones replacement, a small side plate of fresh-cut fruit.... wow, thanks because I booked high tea for a plate of fruit. Now the real fun, we request the bill, and the server obliges. The bill is for everything we ordered (including our $50 glasses of champagne! This was no fancy glass of champagne, simply the house bottle) except the actual tea service. I thought fantastic they bungled the service and were comping the teas. NOPE! Server came back with a new $780.00 bill. Save your money and have tea at the ShangriLa!

Our server Annie was lovely, very helpful and pleasant. The other server was less friendly. The food was just average I would say, the brioche and foccacia were a bit stale and the fois gras did not have much flavour. The deserts also lacked flavour, the matcha, custard and pistachio deserts all had a lot of white chocolate on them which was over powering. The raspberry lychee tart was delicious, as was the taco. The bao was good but seemed massive in comparison to the other delicate treats. The tea was lovely. The atomosphere was odd, business people having lunch at the bar etc, didn’t fit the ambiance of high tea. Overall it was fine but I probably wouldn’t go back.

Over all service is good , food is tasty. However, the high tea tower is prepared next to the disable washroom at the back. They can organize it in the bar. They mention to me there is no space for the fridge in the bar. That is totally defeated the high tea experience. I told the waitress about that. She mention to me will tell the manager. I don’t think a 5 star hotel should do it this way.

Went here today to celebrate Mother’s Day. I booked this 2 months in advance and was looking forward to having high tea with my mom and celebrating Mother’s Day with her. Seeking st Regis is a 5 start renowned hotel you’d hope for great service and delicious food however it was the opposite. The customer service was absurd with many people serving and not remembering what we asked for. Spending 95 per person is way overpriced for a high tea like this. I don’t mind spending the money whatsoever but for the quality of food tasting like a week old is ridiculous! The focaccia on the mozzarella tasted like a week old bread and tasted so stale. The bao bun had a thin slice of pork for such a big bao bun. I understand it’s Mother’s Day and kitchens can be busy but food should be of high quality as it’s what you pay for. For a hotel of such food should be prepared on the same day. Skip this high tea and go somewhere else because it’s far from good. Shangri La is much better than this poor quality food. It was disappointing for Mother’s Day weekend.

With a price tag of $95/person, I expected a high level of customer service. When my group of 8 went to the Astor lounge (reservations were made weeks in advance), they did not have a table ready. We waited for about half hour and sat on the half of our table that was ready while we waited. They then joined together tables and chairs to accommodate our party of 8. The server even asked if we could split our party of 8 into two tables of 4, which we refused. They did bring us a selection of teas to choose from which smelled great. However, the food missed the mark. The savoury items were very disappointing. The sweets were great but overall it was not worth the money. Additionally, I had called in advance to let them know someone at our table had an almond allergy... yet one of the pastries had almonds in it. Overall, I was very disappointed with the experience and would not recommend this lounge for high tea.

I stay at the St.Regis often; therefore I understand there is a standard to maintain. I found the food was not very good and not worth the price for the afternoon tea experience. The tables were very small for the amount of things that have to fit, cutlery; tower; cups, plates etc. the other thing I did not like was that the waitress dropped my sisters mimosa as she was cleaning off the table, her mimosa was literally full and didn’t even offer to replace it or take it off the bill. It’s not about the money for me, it’s the principal, this is no inexpensive meal. I spent $600 for 4 people so I was definitely expecting more in the sense of quality from a hotel of this tier. The atmosphere was nothing too special it was just behind the lobby which I also think can be upgraded because there was not much privacy. Overall I am glad I experienced it as I enjoy trying different fine dining experiences, but will definitely not be returning.

Our experience at the Astor Lounge was absolutely exquisite! We went for high/ afternoon tea and I would 100% recommend going for the same occasion. Our hosts were very friendly and we appreciated that they really knew a lot about the dishes they served and enlightened us about where each dish was based upon. (Each dish from our “Toronto” tea experience was based on the different cultural cuisines throughout the city). I loved the wide selection of teas and how the menu listed each item offered to us in great detail. The ambience of the Lounge was also great, as the music was soothing and aided in the presentation. We came in around 4pm and stayed till about 7pm, so we were also able to view the live music, a collection of jazz on piano and a live singer, was also divine. Overall, I would recommend the Astor lounge to those who enjoy tea, want a refreshing beverage, or would just like to spend an afternoon chatting about in a relaxed environment.

Absolutely stellar afternoon tea experience! I love afternoon/high tea and I have been to many but this was truly special. I was traveling to Toronto from NY to celebrate a cousins birthday. The 3 of us couldn’t stop talking about how wonderful it was from the service to the ambiance and everything in between. Make sure to get the Oolong crème as it was my favorite and like nothing I’ve ever tried. Can’t wait to come back when I visit Toronto again!

Our reservation was for the afternoon tea. Everything ablut it was basically perfection. Tea selection was on point and we loved that you could also smell the teas before deciding from the menu. The sweet and savoury bites were perfectly crafted and just fantastic. Scones were the perfect combination of crumbly and melt in your mouth. Service was friendly & knowledgeable. Def recommend yhe afternoon tea at the Astor lounge at the st regis hotel.

The afternoon tea service is outstanding. The high quality ingredients and thoughtfully executed bites made this one of the best afternoon tea experiences I’ve ever had. Foie Gras, caviar, wagyu beef? Yes please. Then comes the parade of decadent sweets. Fluffy scones. I’m still thinking about it hours later. Mine was gluten free and I had zero FOMO watching my table mates eat theirs. Service was lovely and the surroundings charming.

Service is great, food is good in general, tea selections are pretty good. Just that the scones were bit crumbly and dry.
