We always enjoy the food at Atelier. The ambiance and the service are always friendly & warm. We love the decor; reminds me of a Bistro in France. Be sure to have the bread. Thank you for another great evening.

Atelier is a lovely experience for a special event or an everyday pleasure. It's a relaxed atmosphere with attentive but not smothering service and excellent food. Expect to be there for at least two hours and maybe three.

We had a girls happy hour here and it was so lovely. Matt greeted us and served the best happy hour goodies and wine . Mussels were delish. Will be back.

Easy to miss unless you are intentionally looking for it, this is a gem in all aspects. The decor - upscale moody dark blues and antique golds - is inspiring and sets expectations for European flavours and styles. The chairs are so comfy! Then the set-menu Sunday roast. Wow. Just like we remember from the pub in Dartmouth, England. Parsnip soup - YUMM. Roast beef with many, many roasted veggies - YUMM. Chocolate mousse - okay. Nice cappuccino machine. Suggestions? Chef/owner/waiter should have taken time to change his apron at least and maybe even put on something other than saggy blue jeans before welcoming patrons. He just didn't match the ambience. But he was friendly and welcoming and obviously a great chef. Second suggestion, larger dinner plates. So many delicious things on the plate meant that it was difficult to cut the meat or arrange a fork full without spilling over the edge of the plate. Surprises - the price and selection of wines. Very pricey ( 9oz (Trebiano?) = $23 per glass!) and I wanted to see a nice Malbec or Carmenere to enjoy with the beef but alas. Go. It's fabulous really. We don't have many restaurants of this ilk on the peninsula.

A perfect spot on a rainy night with a great friend in town from back east. Greeted by Matt and Nina Simone at the door and it got even better from there. Trish took great care delivering smoke and rum cocktails that are like a cozy fire vibe at the table, beet and goat cheese tart that was devine with just the right amount of pastry sweet, mushroom risotto like a little cheese-based duvet in the mouth and then mains of salmon for one and mussels/frites for the other that sent us to the moon. All topped off with a nice bottle of Quail's Gate pinot noir. Devine. Left feeling nothing but loved inside and out.

We went for lunch. We were surprised that we were the only ones in at 12h15. Obviously, the waiter gave us all his attention. We ordered 2 lunch specials, meaning mussels and pork belly. The mussels were amazing. The pork belly was ok. It came with roasted carrots and a rutabaga purée. We do not believe the carrots had been roasted that day. It was a bit on the dry side and even one was half burned. For "elevated cuisine" I was not impressed. This being said the flavours were there. Then came the desert. My apple pie had a slight taste of garlic. It was a bit awkward and the waiter did recognized it was not supposed to be. They kindly did not charge for it. My last comment is about portion size. The portions are definitely too small. My wife who is not a big eater commented that we should go get something to eat somewhere when we left the restaurant. I actually believe the chef has real talent and the waiter was really kind. I believe a good look at the way they are doing things would probably help them improve their business a lot. A friend told us they went for dinner and had more or less the same comments. Expensive for what you get. Personally I do not like to give a bad critic if I can not offer suggestions. As the restaurant is aiming toward French cuisine, I would offer des "formules midis" for example as you get in any French restaurant in France. That means that for a set price you have a soup/salad, entree and desert. I would also rethink my promotion as the name of the restaurant means nothing to an anglophone community. Even me, being a French guy never thought the place was a restaurant and I did walked in front of it quite a few times in the past year. The frosty glass at the front hides people walking by to see that it is actually a restaurant. I would also hang in full view a menu outside. Matt, I wish you well but I really hope that you will up your game if you wish to stay in business. You've got a good thing going.

Excellent Sund Roast experience at Atelier. This was our first time here, and we’re kicking ourselves for not coming sooner! Everything about the evening was excellent. Service was so friendly and personal. Loved having the set menu (only having to choose the roast) and look forward to a return evening to try their a la carte menu. Had the pork (amazing!) and beef (perfectly medium) at our table. Lovely selection of cocktails/beers. The decor is very intimate, as is the entire space. Could not say enough about the level of service (considering it was a table of 16! And our table of four). Everything came out so well timed, you would have thought there was 5 people playing in the kitchen…which we knew was not the case. What a wonderful restaurant. Looking forward to our next meal there.

Matt does an incredible job with the food. It was absolutely delicious, but the pork chop would benefit by having a sauce or gravy to moisten it. I was disappointed to arrive home finding my hair and clothes saturated in fumes from the cooking. In spite of all this, I will continue to enjoy meals at this local restaurant.

A superb night out. From appetizers to salad, to cocktail, to main courses, wine recommendations, and dessert .... every step of the way was delicious. Very relaxed atmosphere. We lingered for 2 hours over our meal wishing it would never end. Will be back. Highly recommended.

The rack of lamb was deboned. The food was very slow. Service was excellent and the wait staff was very patient with the senior I was with and made many requested substitutions. If the food could come a bit quicker it would improve the experience. Also in my opinion when rack of lamb is in the menu it should be on the bone. Just my preference .

We had an amazing dinner with Matt. We were referred by friends who also enjoyed a memorable meal at Attelier. The menu was simple with various options but not overwhelming. The creativity in flavors and presentation of the meal was especially intriguing. If you love a great meal, you will not be disappointed. We don't make it to Sydney a lot, but we will definitely be back to dine with Matt again.

The food was delicious, excellent; my husband’s steak done to perfection. I really enjoyed my steak Tartare and Burrata appetizer; maybe a bit more seasoning on the tomatoes. The atmosphere warm & friendly. Due to short staffing (which is everywhere), there was a slightly longer than usual wait for food. The prices are a bit high but the portions are good.

We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner at Ateliers. Our first experience at Ateliers was so good that we will be returning. If you're into olives like we are, you will be impressed with the amount that is served. A little too much, really, but, we could not let them go to waste. My halibut entrée was perfectly prepared finished with a touch of salt. My husband's beef was also perfectly presented. Both so very tasty. We indulged at the end of the meal by sharing the cherry tart. Also excellent. The service was outstanding. All in all, a great place to celebrate our anniversary over dinner.
