Food was outstanding. Service was poor and ultimately ruined our experience . Will not return.
Our experience was good but not great. We were very excited for the blind tasting menu, and while several of the courses were fabulous, many of the courses looked wonderful but did not have the complexity of flavour or ingenuity that I was hoping for from a restaurant of this caliber. The temperature of the food was also not consistent (ex. Some courses arrived not as warm or hot as they should have been). The table service and Sommelier were top notch, as were the cocktails and wine ordered. The restaurant ambience needs an update. While I like minimalism, the space is showing it’s wear and looks tired.
Best restaurant in town. Hands down. We were blown away.
Sumptuous tasting menu in a non-rushed environment. Takes about 3 hours for entire tasting experience. Probably the most expensive dinner we've ever had but a real culinary experience. Waiters are extremely helpful and described each dish in detail. New cutlery and dishes with each dish. By the end of the 12 tastings we were very full. The siracha bread before the meal was exquisite.
The 12 course menu with extended pairing was a phenomenal culinary experience. The time taken to explain each dish, and the sommelier providing extensive information on the pairings, was perfect. Never felt rushed at any point during the meal. It was a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
Atelier has a diner feel with plain wood tables and chairs and bright lights. At $165 a plate it wasn’t the ambiance I had expected or wanted. Food was great although some plates were plagiarized from food blogs/shows (scallop presentation from Magnus Nilsson, candy helium balloon from Alinea in Chicago). The servers stumbled over memorized scripts and were clearly not sommeliers. Again, at $500 total (2 people) for dinner + bottle of wine the bar is set high and was missed hard.
Valentine’s Day was great
Was the first tasting menu I had ever tried and it was absolutely amazing. They easily accommodated dieteray restrictions without making it feel like you were missing out on the full experience. The waitress and sommelier were extremely friendly, warm, and thorough with the descriptions of food and wine. 10/10 amazing experience and would definitely recommend. The actual place wasn't as elegant as I had expected hence the 4 stars instead of 5 for ambience.
Fantastic dining experience with wonderful service. The wine pairing was an informative carefully curated selection expertly matched to each tasty course. The background music didn’t suit and eventually became distracting. It was an expensive meal, but certainly one I can recommend.
A great place to celebrate special occasions with a 12 course meal. Did not opt for wine pairings due to price and fear that it would be too filling. But we had one cocktail each, which were good. Dietary restrictions were respected and the food was delicious. The only issue was sometimes we needed to ask our server to repeat aspects of the food description because it was hard to hear what she said over the noise of other customers sometimes.
Amazing 12 course meal! We "hoped" 8 or 9 out of 12 would be delicious, but all 12 were amazing!
12 courses + wine pairings = one amazing night.
Was here with my wife for my birthday our second visit to Atelier. Chef Marc Lepine has a great standard for all chefs to live up to. You always be impress by eating here. Highly recommend. Be patient with you 11-12 course meal and always have a pairing of wine or non-alcoholic beverage
Excellent service. 4.5 hours that flew by.
Lived up to its reputation!!! Great wine pairing and excellent service!!
Great experience of flavours & textures. Definitely going back next year.
Service was very good. Atmosphere was lacking, no music, other patron noise very loud. Food was overall pretty good. Extended wine pairing was mediocre.
It's in a strange location but I couldn't have been more pleased. The food was out of this world and the service excellent. Such wonderful combinations of flavours and textures. I couldn't gave enjoyed it more.
The extended wine paring is a must, once in a life time experience
Incredible dining experience. Worth every penny. Food was delicious. Service was wonderful. Wine pairings were perfect. I would go again.
High end restaurant, high end dishes and service!
It was an amazing culinary experience. The pace of the service was perfect, not too fast, not too slow. Every dish was spectacular and absolutely delicious. The restaurant looks like a house from the outside but it is nice and cozy inside.
This was a fantastic experience. Excellent service
One of the best restaurant in Canada! Service is always excellent
Would not recommend. There was no 'Wow" factor what so ever.....The outside and interior lack uniqueness, nothing to the ambiance, the food although nicely presented was not too tasteful and there is a feeling of emptiness in the place.
Amazing service and amazing food. I was very excited to eat here and although it’s expensive it was well worth it. The wine pairing was spot on! I can’t wait to go back.
Amazing experience. We will come back again once we have saved up some more pennies!
Honestly the best dining experience I've ever had. The food was delicious and inventive and the wine pairings were perfect.
Our server Melissa was so attentive, describing every item with great excitement and detail, and really made the experience that much better. The sommelier Kieran was also a great source of information, and really captured the spirit of what was being served. Food presentation was on point, with so many excellent flavours and textures. While the price of the fare may turn some away, for those with a passion for food this is a fantastic experience that leaves a lasting impression.
Friendly staff, exquisite food/wine experience. One of the best restaurant ever tasted!
We had been to l’Atelier almost a decade ago and we were looking forward to our experience. It is with regret however, that I must say we won’t be going back. What made l’Atelier a distinctive experience was the textures of the dishes. True, each course was elaborate and thoughtful, but for the 6 or 7 distinctives aromas that comprised each dish, only two stood out. What was originally an explosion of rarified textures and incomparable delicate fine dining, has now made way to an expanded lounge where more people means more noise and disruption. The rarity was put aside in order to accept a broader audience and in the process, the soul of the « experimental dining » is no more. It is with a sad heart that I say this.
We had a great night!
Food: Excellent, not challenging but presented in modern elegant combinations and presentations.
Service: Just right. Warm and friendly without being overwhelming or intrusive. We were the last table in the restaurant, but didn't feel rushed or pressured to leave. Offered coffee/tea or aperitifs following the meal with no hint that they were eager for service to finish.
Wine pairing: The sommelier was informative and happy to share insights about the pairings. Great wines that complimented the food nicely.
Ambiance: The restaurant was lively and enthusiastic. A bit loud if you wanted a quiet dinner but we didn't feel like conversation was difficult.
We'll be back for the next season's menu.
Amazing experience! Food and presentation are next-level. Noise level was high, but all it takes is one loud table and everyone else speaks louder. Not the restaurant’s fault.
One of the best food experiences ever! Every dish was impeccably presented, along with a superb description of every morsel! The addition of the wine pairing made for a truly scrumptious experience. The somalier was highly knowledgeable and welcomed all our questions. The ambiance was lovely and the staff discreet and efficient. The lamb roulade was delicious and served under a nitrogen infused dome! I must say I enjoyed all 12 courses and I'd be hard pressed to choose a favourite!
Amazing. Would definitely recommend this to anyone
Originally hailing from Montreal we have very little expectations from the Ottawa food scene but we were pleasantly surprised! This restaurant lives up to it’s reputation which is hard to find in Ottawa. This quaint little place is every foodies dream. We loved all the meticulously prepared dishes. Thanks to the chef and the server, we will be coming back again.
A good variety of courses and discoveries. Presentation of each course was impressive. Very good service and detail oriented. The food itself was not particularly amazing with few that stood out.
Ambiance is proper for a business gathering but not as much for dates or anniversaries.
The 12 course meal is amazing. There are one or two courses might be a little too creative and tasted very "interesting", but i still enjoyed it. Service is great, very professional and friendly staff.
Fabulous!.. The food was delicious, they were able to accommodate my dietary requirements with no issues.
The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, were able to answer any questions we had.
We can’t wait to go back again.
