sliced roasted lamb, onions, tomatoes, arugula, & tzatziki sauce; accompanied by oregano fries
chickpeas, garlic, lemon, & tahini sesame paste
Eating in the tavern is the best for a more casual but yet delicious meal!
Amazing as always. One of, if not the most consistent restaurants in the Capital District. The owner pitches not only serving, but also busing and washing tables. It’s an amazing establishment.
We've dined there several times and it's always outstanding. The service and food are consistently high quality. I would confidently recommend Athos to anyone who appreciates a fine dining experience.
Always a great time. Food, service and experience five stars. Also appreciated our servers knowledge of the menu and wine.
Great food and great service. Went for my girlfriends birthday and had an awesome experience.
Athos is our favorite date night location! The food is always excellent. This time the service was a little slow, but we still had a fabulous time
Came back after many years on a business trip. I was eating solo. The service was outstanding and the food great. Just as I remembered from my previous visit. Menu is excellent with Greek classics, nice vegetarian options, and fresh fish grilled to perfection, and filleted at the table by the staff. Good wine and beer list.
Our table was ready when we arrived and service was excellent. The lamb gyro was really greasy- the grease dropped and pooled in the plate. That’s the only thing keeping this review from 5 stars. I’ll return but wouldn’t order the lamb gyro again.
One of my favorite restaurants. My husband and I spent part of our honeymoon in Santorini, and the food at Athos is every bit as good as being back there. The octopus appetizer is particularly lovely. Service is fabulous, and they have an extensive selection of both Greek and non-Greek wines by the glass. Highly recommend for a lovely evening.
Very good food and food selection, excellent service.
Overall it was a great experience. The food service time was a little long but well worth the wait. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious.
Valentine's Day weekend. Crazy busy. Not thrilled they did temporary seating changes to squeeze in a few more tables. It was too crowded!
That said, despite the crowd, kitchen and waitstaff came through at their regular high level. Food and service were what I expect from Athos.
Best Greek food I’ve had in the Capital Region since I moved here 10 years ago. Authentic and flavorful.
Ambient great, food awesome. I loved it. My wife loved her San Valentines dinner
The food and service were on point for Valentines Day.
Food was cooked to perfection, timeliness of the meal was perfect, and the staff was excellent
one of our favorite places...we'll definitely be back again.
What's not to like? Food was tasty, the service excellent, the prix fixe well worth it. It was easy to converse even with a full dining room. We were sated after having the salad and entree but found space for the luscious desserts, among them a mint chocolate mousse.
Special fish of the day was overcooked and dry. Vegetables we also overcooked and flavorless. Drinks were good
Appiterizers were fine as well
This restaurant is hands-down one of my favorite restaurants in the capital District! I absolutely love it here. The service is always stellar, and the food is always fantastic. I’ve never had a bad experience here.
I love this restaurant. The menu and price point is perfect. The menu gives lots of choices and variety. This is a go-to restaurant for special occasions or going with friends out to dinner. I have never had a disappointing experience at Athos.
Beautiful decor , would definitely return!
Love this restaurant but the grilled fish was surprisingly dry
They do offer a sauce but it should be moist and not in need of sauce
Appetizers are yummy
Try the Lima beans
I will be back but no fish next time
Really enjoyed the Roben-Kozek Jazz Trio!
I have eaten at Athos many times. The service is usually excellent. Unfortunately, on this visit, not so. I thought our waiter left and went home; he was very un-attentive.
Luckily , this was not my first time in, because I would not go back due to the service.
Attentive service and delicious food/wine for a great price. Highly recommend the price fixe dinner menu!
First time there. Food was amazing and service was impeccable.
Great food & service ! Very loud had to yell to person sitting across from you.
Waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Seating was too close to table next to us. Jazz music was nice. Food was very fresh.
Service was poor, waiter ignored us, ran out of specials. New year's eve, loud.
May give it another try not on a holiday.
Outstanding- would love to keep this a secret, but Athos deserves the praise! Our group of 6 was treated to delicious food in a beautiful atmosphere with a delightful server. What more could we ask for?! A reasonable bill at the end of the meal. Our favorite place.
New Years Eve! Excellent on all fronts!
We went for dinner and the Greek Night - music and dancing. The noise level of people talking was so loud that we could hardly hear the band over the chatter! While the band was good, we had little time to enjoy the ambiance because there was so much loud talking all over the room. It sounded like everyone was yelling to be heard over one-another and the band.
So, great dinner - excellent food. Not so great music and dance to be enjoyed.
Disappointing hummus, lacking texture and lacking flavor. The pita bread was good.
Two entrees, one was rabbit with pasta. Huge amount of pasta, little amount of rabbit.
One vegetarian entree, green tomato stuffed with vegetables. Actually the green tomato came accompanied by a red tomato. That was fine, what was not fine was the stuffing, really awful.
The prices are high for mediocre food.
We do not think we will visit this restaurant again.
Good restaurant and good food. Nothing outstanding (except maybe the grekolimano), but overall a good experience.
What a collosal disappointment! A waste of money and time and just not at all enjoyable. Food was hit or miss, for the prices that is just inexcusable. We sat with our mostly gross dinners in front of us, ready for dessert, for 20 mins. Finally got up and left.
My wife and I went for my birthday and were glad we did. Everything was amazing. The drinks, appetizer (octopus, it was my first time and I loved it), our entrees and server. We’ll definitely return.
We enjoyed the friendly staff & our waiter Nick was awesome.
Outstanding dinner, as always.
I grew up on Greek food (Mom was a Greek), so I am an experienced critic. That said, the dinner we had was very good but nut on a par with the best I know.
The grilled octopus was exquisite - a perfect touch serving it with salad and pickles!
The grilled lamb (paidakia) was very good but a bit too fatty and slightly over cooked (I asked for less than medium rare and got medium).
The vegetarian dish my wife has was uninspired and mediocre.
The desert was top shelf (ice cream with baklava chips).
All in all, a very nice dinner inn a bit too noisy atmosphere. A bit costly but definitely the very best Greek restaurant in the Albany, tri-city area!
