Food was pretty good and very expensive. Seating is in one big, uncomfortable room and offers touted views only from tables along one glass wall. Service was dismissive. Overall unpleasant experience and overpriced. Hard to understand why reservations were limited since lots of tables were empty.

The restaurant itself is a nice space with a good bar and a scenic outlook. We had 8-9 plates between us. One was really nice (trout) and everything else was below par on all other restaurants we dine at in Hobart of a similar grade and price. The food underwhelmed us. The cocktails were good. I won’t go back for dinner.

Great view, good food - with an outstanding salmon and with a pork and a lamb below expectations. Service was good, especially after we asked for enough time between dishes to enjoy. Few issues with ventilation - there was a food smell that went into our clothes, as we’ve noticed when we left the location.

The staff, view & ambience was amazing! The food, while beautifully presented & flavourful, was incredibly small in comparison to the price tag… $126 worth of food & my fiancée and i still turned into Mr Burger afterwards to get our fill. This was very disappointing. Amazing selection of wine, and my cocktail was great!

It was a shame, for a hotel with this name. Beginning with the reception, to the presentation of the dinner. The dinner was good, but all parts of the menu came almost to the same time, but they vergot the last part. Even after our additional request! A nice gesture was the bill: the boss gave us 50%.

Aura is a perfect destination for a couple's romantic meal, a family celebration or a get together with a small group of friands. The food is excellent, the service is first class and very friendly without being intrusive and the atmosphere is relaxed. I cannot recommend Aura Hobart highly enough.

The food was nothing great. Definitely edible but lacked pizazz to leave me wanting more. The service was rushed and intrusive with the entrees, mains and drinks being completed in 52 minutes. The ambience was lacking with a giant television playing the nightly news directly over my partner's shoulder. Not a patch on what the venue was when it first opened which we gave five stars to back then.

Aura Hobart has been on my list of dining places for as long as they have been open! And oh my wow! Today was the day! 🥳 A special belated birthday lunch extravaganza with my beautiful mum on top of the picturesque Hobart skyline was the setting, and absolutely everything about this outing was exquisite 🤩 The venue, atmosphere, service, food, drink, and of course company, all exquisite! We had the pleasure of devouring, over a very sophisticated and perfectly timed 2-3 hour experience, the following: 🙌 Freshly shucked Tasmanian oysters with pomegranate 🙌 Citrus ants - lemon myrtle hung curd - fermented chilli - cucumber 🙌 Hiramasa kingfish - grapefruit, orange, lime dressing - marigolds 🙌 Heirloom tomatoes - basil - goats cheese mousse 🙌 Smoked rainbow trout - macadamia- burnt lemon dust - wakame 🙌 Garden greens - Burrata - mandarin gel - honey sherry dressing 🙌 Hobart wildflower honey - milk ice cream - salted caramel 🙌 House made berry sorbet - smoked berries 🥳 plus, a surprise birthday dessert platter complete with a happy birthday note AND singing of the birthday song!!! Mum enjoyed a never ending glass of sparkling water, while my eyes (and lips) fixated on the Derwent Estate Rose’ to complete the festivities. I feel another exquisite is required!!! EXQUISITE 🙌❤️🥂

Great location and view of the city, but some dishes were poorly executed and share plates that complemented each other should have come out together (eg. salad plate with main plate). Found better value in the smaller plates, less value in the main plates. Hot toddies were the highlight, and would recommend going for happy hour.

Amazing food - simple but delicious. The food plates are designed perfectly for sharing and cater for all dietary requirements. The menu is small but with good variety of menu options. The view over the Hobart night lights is worth the visit.

I paid $23 for the worst espresso martini I’ve ever had. The menu says it’s designed for sharing but the portions and staff say otherwise. We literally left after half an hour go somewhere else the service was that bad.

TV in a restaurant ???? That wasn’t there last time. Lowered the standard. People (hotel guests??) coming in for a look at the view! In and out the door Food was average. Nothing special. Staff constantly interrupting us with topping up our drinks and taking away plates. Staff were very very polite 10/10

A good place for cocktails but don't bother eating here. The food was poorly executed and lacking balance. Menu items were not as advertised. The pork ribs were off the bone and somehow almost entirely fat (I think they were actually badly cooked pork belly slices). The potatoes were actually either thick cut chips or deep fried blocks of mashed potato. The kingfish was actually a cold kingfish soup. The menu says all items are meant to be shared but this was impractical with the soup. What were they thinking? Prices were absurdly high for the tiny portion size, even by fine dining standards. This might have been forgivable if the food tasted good. Only the dessert was nice. Every other fine dining experience in Hobart leaves this for dead.

While the food was delicious, each plate had 3 TINY tasters for the cost of a good meal elsewhere. The very special teeny dots of sauces couldn't be smeared off the plates because they had a grainy finish. The staff bugged us incessantly which became really annoying (I guess that's better than waiting an hour for service but honestly, it was ridiculous). This place has so much going for it - it's a special environment but they are not quite hitting the mark. Personally, I think some live, schmoozy music or something would help it be a little less precious and bring out that sultry vibe the place has. It's gorgeous for a cocktail...I'll be back for that. So, would I recommend? Yes, and no.

It was such a beautiful experience tonight at Aura the view is just amazing and we had sharing plates the food tasted really fresh and unique we were blown away with the quality of food served from such small kitchen at front and the way chefs were working looked really organised and was treat to watch it live we are looking forward to come back again really soon This place just lived up to the hype we are really impressed favourite dish was kingfish and tomatoes and smoked berries sorbet

My partner and I have travelled down from QLD, and we’d booked a table for dinner at AURA well in advance - we were very excited to dine in at the restaurant. Upon arriving, the restaurant was beautiful, views of the city & bridge were gorgeous. Once we sat down, we were given drinks menu’s and that was it. We ordered a drink, and then about 5 minutes later another staff member came and asked if anyone had taken our order, to which we let her know that we’d ordered drinks but no one had given us the menu for dinner therefore we hadn’t ordered yet. About 5 minutes later we got our drinks, but still no dinner menu or any other staff checking in. After about 20-30 minutes of no staff even coming close to the table, we felt quite unwanted (we were seated on the opposite side of the restaurant to anyone else) and so we got up to pay for our drinks and leave. When we asked about dinner as we paid, they said ‘oh, we didn’t know you were here for dinner’. We’d booked a table at a restaurant for 6pm, and had mentioned dinner when the staff member asked - why would one ‘assume’ that we were not having dinner? We ended up leaving and eating at another restaurant.

The food portions were small and overpriced. The timing of the dishes was poor. They served the potatoes on their own without the meats. Later asked if we had everything and we were still waiting on three dishes. They then served the meat dishes without the asparagus dish which arrived to late to eat with the meat.

Beautiful view and lovely atmosphere but don’t go for the food or service. It’s a bit of a try hard restaurant and the food quality is just not there - nor is the service standard. Shame as it looks so lovely.
