Everything about our lunch was fantastic! The food delicious, the service excellent and the ambiance was beautiful. Thanks for the great Memories.
Excellent time and delicious food. Two small critiques: there was not a lot of cutlery available for the brunch services which was weird and annoying. Also, as a tea drinker I must say I was very disappointed to discover that the tea pots were also used for coffee. The coffee is an overpowering flavour that drowns out the more delicate tea. This is easily remedied by dedicating a portion of tea pots (perhaps a different style?) solely to tea. As a first class hotel and dining experience with the prices to match, I would expect nothing less.
Service was very slow and they seemed to forget to give out table simple things such as steak knives in order to cut our food, and watching around the restaurant every other table got bread but ours. We felt neglected most of the evening. My dates flank steak was more salt then steak, but my lamb shank was good. Overall a very underwhelming experience.
The food was very good
The only issue was my wife's New York strip
There were a couple parts that were tough and stringy
Not enough to send it back and since our anniversary we didn't bring it up
Our server did check in with us and we said all was good
Just suggest keeping a close eye on meat quality in the future
The Sunday brunch is always amazing. You won’t be disappointed.
Unfortunately, the Sunday brunch is extremely overpriced and the quality of the food is mediocre.
It is hard to compare the ambiance produced by the shear size and character of this historic log structure to that of modern hotels.....plus, the Canadian Customer Service is second to none in any case. But here, remote from the bustling city, the décor, the space, the views, the accommodations, the staff....all just enhance the dining experience which we found truly outstanding.
Expensive, but great wine, spectacular food, and unsurpassed service.
.....we'll be going back soon.
Amazing place, amazing food, we were treated like royalty!
Expensive but great ambiance. for special occasion
So I have been going to Montebello since before it was a hotel. Private members only club back then. I will always love the ambiance there as it reminds me of when I was a kid going there with my grandparents. The issue I have now with Aux Chantignoles is that online they list the buffet as $46, but the bill came and it was $55. No one was prepared to do anything for me and I did not feel like arguing. $55 for a buffet is way too high. In spite of the best maple crepes in the world and really good lamb stew. Some high end buffet things, but not many. The plates are very small making it impossible to take much and the lineups are long so it takes a while. I was given two very tiny 1.5' x 1.5" square slices of roast beef. It was delicious, but again cheap on the serving. Also constantly they ran out of things on the table, mini sandwiches, creme caramel, eggs bene, crepes. So had to go back and get in line again. So if you are going to charge for that ambiance, for some upgrades on menu, then don't get cheap with servings. Treat people right and remember not only your history, but the brand you are representing - Fairmont. One of the world's best.
One of the things I look forward to at the Château Montebello. Good quality food and great variety. I recommend a swim prior to the brunch to get the appetite going ;)
I love the place unfortunately I reserved on the wrong time. I wanted the New Year brunch. The whole works. Service is fantastic you will see me again but at the correct time.
Happy New Year!
The place itself is great but I have seen better brunch in my life with a better variety of choices specially on Christmas day. For me it was a regular Sunday brunch. I have seen better in the past somewhere else and it was what I was expected at such well know place. Sorry but I will continue my search of, what I call, a nice Christmas, New Year, Easter Brunch. It wasn't as festive as my desire.
We went for Xmas brunch and celebrate a birthday
The hotel is absolutely unique and perfect setting to be in the spirit of Xmas. The restaurant is nice with the authentic rock walls and wood log ceiling. The service is absolutely perfect.
Food is a buffet ... not a big buffet, ham is very good, the desserts are very cute and a lot to choose from. The rest I was not impress with the food selection or presentation. Very pricy ... I would expected to at lest have the Parking included.. may Be I should have asked
Great experience of course
For a limited menu, the time from order to receipt of food was approx. 45 minutes. Find this unacceptable. After all this wait my pasta of the day was undercooked and dry(not enough sauce)
Food was amazing! The service was totally on point for a higher need restaurant. We were seated by the window where we could look out onto the lake, yet it wasn’t cold at all. All of the recommendations by our server were perfect. The bread is to die for and the steak cooked perfectly. Great night!
Food was amazing. Love the maple crepes. View was picturesque and atmosphere fairly quiet. Staff was on point and helpful as well as friendly. Fairly expensive but was worth the experience. Would have the Sunday brunch again
Great food in a relaxed atmosphere, would definitely go back.
Love coming here, have been for years. Very busy so service was a bit slow but otherwise outstanding as usual.
Restaurant du chaleureux Château Montebello. Un bon repas dans le restaurant avec vue sur la rivière des Outaouais. Service courtois et efficace. Pour les bourses bien garnies.
Wonderful service and ambiance. Some of the food was cold and did not find it very good value for money spent.
Very disappointed with the quality and selection of the buffet brunch, especially for the price! It felt like mass produced food, no personal touches (like an omlette or smoothies) Plus the buffet is not inclusive to different dietary restrictions (vegetarians and non pork eaters good luck!!)
The Sunday Brunch buffet was extremely diverse and had a huge selection of many different items. The service was great and the food was fantastic. We will be going back!
I treated my family of 10 to the Breakfast. Superb service and good food. It was a really nice time with my loved ones.
We had a fantastic waiter, lunch Friday Nov 29 th
We all had steak, we found it rather tough with no sides of vegetables for that price ?
We love the hotel , it’s wonderful and a very special place. After our lunch the three of us wanted to sit by the fire, but couples were occupying the love seats leaving no room for the three of us to sit. We then moved to the bar which is located by the main entrance. Two of us ordered alcoholic drinks, but I asked the bar tender for water, which he gave to me. When I asked him, to refill my glass with more water, he seemed reluctant but nevertheless filled my glass with water while at the same time he referred me to the water fountain not far away.
I was disappointed with his lack of service and attitude.
Way to expensive for the quality of the meals. My steak was burnt outside. It was supposed to come with potatoes, vegetables and sauces since I ordered the Table d'hôte but it came should the steak alone. Very disappointing! My boyfriend's fletan was a nice meal but he had better.
The food was fantastic, the server Benoit was charismatic and professional. I also ordered a birthday cake that was above expectations. This was our second time traveling from Ottawa to Montebello in 2019 for brunch, we'll be back in 2020 and try to bring more guests with us next time.
I Really like it. I Will return for sure soon. Everything was perfect. It was a wonderful day
Celebrated my mom’s 65th birthday with brunch. . Price is on the higher side but well worth the atmosphere, service, food quality and service.
Service was terrible. It is not our first time, but it might be the last. When you pay that price you expect the food to be good, but the service has to be too.
We had a friend visiting from Australia so took her to Montebello for a full Canadian experience. She loved the surroundings and the culinary experience of her first taste of smoked meat and of poutine
Everything was excellent, but food was slightly slow coming out of the kitchen.
There is a big different in the equality of food on weekends and weekday breakfast brunches
attendu 30minutes meme si pas occupée a pleine capacités, plus d'argent de pris sur ma carte de credit que le bill et manquer de dessert. alors pour le $ je ne recommande pas
Daniel, our server was fantastic. He was great in making recommendations for food and was wonderful with our kids. Our dining experience was made better because of him. Overall food was very good and we enjoyed our night.
Great buffet! Delicious food with choices of local and fresh cuisine with a scenic view. #delicious Highly recommend. 👍🏼 Note: Reservations required in advance.
The restaurant is nice, and welcoming, great menu, and the service was good. It’s a little dated, and the menu feels a little too traditional, nothing new or modern, the prices seem a little too high for a little above average food.
Off-season, end of October:
Menu dated and dishes mediocre. Trout fillet from frozen and dried out. Vegetables all somewhat over cooked (supposed to be roasted maybe?) Sugar pie was good.
Service was excellent. Waiter was personable, accommodating and efficient.
There were a few diners in a cavernous space on ground level overlooking a storage area or similar, dark, no music, no candlelight.
Price: approx $180 for 2 people with taxes and tip (included one glass of wine for one diner).
