Zee Grill Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar

NOTE: This restaurant is closed. When we got there today, it is boarded up and a sign on the door said “ Closed for renovations : under new management”
Considering I got a confirmation of my reservation and parked the car, to arrive to the above notice made me quite unhappy. Open table needs to keep its files current.
The restaurant was flooded but I was not advised. If I had not called to move my reservation to an earlier time, I would not have known and arrived to a restaurant that was not open.
It was closed!!!!
I love this restaurant
The staff are friendly and helpful.
The food is usually first rate, but this visit , it was slightly under par.
I really like this spot - the French onion soup is so, so good. Overall, a positive dining experience and highly recommended. Give it a try!
This spot is quickly becoming our regular go-to! We had a really great experience a couple months ago with a group of friends, and last night was even better than the last.
Staff are attentive, welcoming and really do go above and beyond. I can’t say enough about the food. Frites with everything - they’re to die for. The Duck Leg Confit is unreal.
We’ll definitely be back. Thanks for having us!
Avenue came recommended to us by friends who live in the neighbourhood. We drove in from just west of the city and let me tell you - well worth it! A gem of a spot, for sure.
Great wine, great food. The staff took care of us nicely. We’ll definitely be recommending Avenue to friends and colleagues.
I have eaten there frequently in the past, although I haven’t been back in over 6 months. I wonder if the management has changed. This time, however, the visit was so poor that I will not return. The service was confused. The quality of the food was not good: my steak was full of gristle and my companion’s zarzuela was inadequate. But the worst was that we each ordered one glass of white wine separately. The maître d’ brought us a half carafe of white without asking us of that was what we ordered and then charged us for that. The whole meal came to over $140 with more than half of that spent on wine that our server automatically upgraded us to. Very poor indeed.
the a/c wasn't working but there was a fan close to our table. The waitress was very nice and the food was amazing.
Our reservation was not there. The waiter did not have it. Would not use Open Table again. Will call and make reservations personally.
We recently took friends to dinner here as a thank you. Our guests eat out a lot, and spare not expense, so we were happy to find a French bistro they hadn't been to, and the menu items definitely fit the bill. Despite a lovely atmosphere and friendly attentive staff, three of the offerings were so salty. we guzzled water both during and well after the meal, once we got home. My husband sent a ‘quiet’ email the next day about this issue, but we have not heard back. We did not make a fuss at the time, but we won't be back.
Stay far away. Took 2 hours to get dinner. 2 were served 20 minute later the other 2 plates came out.
the food and ambience is always great. It is a great place to meet friends for lunch or dinner --
Small but charming and the staff are very friendly but occasionally a little distracted when the restaurant is busy.
This used to be my favourite restaurant every time I visit Toronto. They changed owner and chef; the menu is the same but the food was horrible! My father and sister in law had big pieces of egg shells. The croque Madame was something I could just make at home. I am so disappointed and will never be back.
The service was extremely friendly and the food was great!
Salmon was over done
Liver and onions - substituted double-smoked bacon with sausage. This was very disappointing.
The food is delicious. The ingredients are great quality, the preparation exception the flavour authentic. The pacing of service was perfect. If you want good French food, it's the place to go.
The meal was great, but I got tripped up on the wine list. Thought I was buying a bottle for $37, but it turned out to be a 1/2 litre price. Bottle was $65. So watch the column for the actual price.
Boeuf Bourguignonne was good but the Zarzuela was wonderful.
Also a nice maple bourbon creme brule.
The food is excellent and the service is top notch. It is a wonderful neighbourhood restaurant that I will visit again.
Okay, but just okay. The meal were average. Didn’t bring a side dish for one main course.
They called me the Saturday before to tell me that they had to cancel my reservation for 4 people on Monday because they were going to do some work to the restaurant.
I wasn't happy!
Excellent service, however I found the food to be of very poor quality. I ordered a baguette supposedly made with strip loin beef. It was 50 % fat. I did not enjoy it . The "au Jus" that accompanied it was more like a gravy made with onion soup mix. My friend ordered the burger and found it way too greasy.
Actually the day went was not the best experience I have for a casual dinner. I think we are the unfortunate table of all. We did not get our starters after waiting for almost an hour. Then our mains after another hour. Yes we are not happy to be waiting for so long, but the starters was good and figure main course should be too. So we just waited. Finally food came and is delicious. We later found out that due to some problems happen with the chefs a week ago, they need to look for backup and that is what happen. Well, waiting sucks but the food is good. I totally recommend this place but maybe wait for another few weeks when everything fall back into place will be excellent.
We enjoyed Avenue Bistro very much, lovely, food, wine and atmosphere.
Always very good value and a most cozy atmosphere. Food is excellent and tables are not too close together., which is a major plus and helps keep the sound level good. Staff very proficient.
Love this place. Little gem in Leaside. Try it
This is the 2nd time I have been to Avenue Bistro this month! Both occasions were excellent!
If you are looking for an imaginative French menu - you have come to the right place! The wine selection is great too - especially the local Chardonnay that could pass for a French one.
Had steak frites. Steak done just right. Good portion, not over-sized. A reliable kitchen and always friendly staff.
Fantastic wine recommendation from our waiter. Well made French food - I had a seafood stew with perfectly cooked seafood which is the mark of a good kitchen!
Service was rushed and not up to normal standards. Was in and out in about an hour. Had to ask for bread and cutlery. Food was just okay and not worth the $65 fixed price. Coq au vin was a minuscule chicken thigh with hardly any meat on the bone. Desert was delivered different than ordered and when questioned the waiter they said they had made a change....why they didn’t tell me this when I ordered it at the beginning of the meal was very odd. Will not be going back.
Fair for the price. The turbot was not fully cooked and luke warm. Our mistake not sending it back but we hate doing that as the meals get out of whack.
They weren't even open! Open Table should be more on the ball.
Great value for good quality food, always carefully prepared. Very pleasant staff.
Enjoyed my liver with onions, a favourite. Pleasant atmosphere. I will return.
My husband and I enjoyed the ambience, service and general feel of the restaurant. We both enjoyed our meals (dinner with salads, mains and a shared dessert). The food was tasty and well presented but my selection (steak frites) was far too salty!! The first bite burned my lips and tongue.
We have been to Avenue before and the food was good and it was this time as well. Service was lacking as we ordered coffee and after twenty minutes had to remind the waiter that we did not have coffee. By far the most upsetting occurrence was the pervasive sewer smell in the whole restaurant. We will now go elsewhere.
Raw chicken... rough said.
Food was removed from the bill, and wine was good, but nothing makes up for raw chicken.
Always a delight!
Great neighbourhood spot on the Bayview strip. Never disappoints.
Was disappointed with the French Toast I had. It was completely different then the last time. Last time it had wonderful cold whipped cream and fresh berries and this time it was a very strange tasting topping and no fresh fruit. Will still go back again but won’t be ordering the French Toast. The first time I had it, it was the best I’d ever had so I was really disappointed. Love this spot though.
