The Shrimp Risotto was excellent. Salmon dish was really good too. Dinner was made all Gluten-free. Service was a little slow due to heavy business with the adjacent Donna’s Pizza place.
The risotto was outstanding as always but the Cesaer salad was plain and disappointing. It really needs better than grated parm cheese.

Our server was great! Since it was our first time there, she went over the menu and specials and helped us make the perfect food choices. Chef Anton's presentation was beautiful on each dish, and it was delicious. Definitely worth a visit (again and again)!
Our review of Axton’s is that they are trying but need some additional improvements.
We ordered the signature calamari appetizer which was mediocre - served with a balsamic glaze which was not special. My salmon special was described as being served with scallops and risotto however I was disappointed with the meager amount of scallops and the salmon was very undercooked. Risotto however was great.
And my husband’s dish of linguine and clams was good.
We had to ask for butter with our bread.
Service was scarce on a Saturday night.
For the price in a local environment I would expect excellent service.
Overall value is not good for the price.
This was our first time there after reading an article ranking it as one of the top restaurants in the area. Did not disappoint!! Eggplant appetizer was fresh and delicious and the Jekyll & Hyde calamari was outstanding! Caesar salad was delish as well as our entrees of sausage/broccoli rabe over pasta and shrimp/scallops fra diavlo. Truly authentic. My family is from the same part of Italy as the owner and his food brought back so many amazing memories of visiting my relatives and of my grandmothers house. The bread with vinegar dip was also so yummy. This place is a must try! Can’t wait to go back. Very reasonably priced and our waitress (the owners sister) was so friendly. You can tell they take such pride in their food and value their customers! Small dining room but such a cozy atmosphere - BYOB also. Do yourself a favor and go!!

First time at Axton’s and it was a great time. Food was very fresh, perfect portions, Fran our waitress was excellent. Byob is a plus. Would deff recommend this restaurant to others. Prices are a little on the higher side but certainly worth it.

We had the mussels in white wine & cold antipasto as apps - sauce for the mussels was so good. I had the pork belly special - delicious, my friend had short rib ravioli, the ragu was great and my urged friend had the shrimp risotto and loved it.

Our party of 4 ate here Saturday, August 7th and we were all very impressed by both our meals and experience. Service was excellent. We shared two of the appetizer specials, a burrata with a grilled peach bruschetta and balsamic drizzle, and a grilled eggplant salad that was just bursting with unique flavors. The servings were ample enough for all of four of us to enjoy some of each one, and both were definite hits with our table. Our entrees included a salmon special, a chicken dish and a pasta dish with seafood - all delicious. We will most certainly return soon!

I thought it was good overall. The calamari appetizer wasn't very good. My cavatelli entree was very good. I thought everything was over priced. But the cost of doing business is more expensive so I guess the high prices are justified. I dont think Pompton Lakes will support this business with these prices.
My husband and I had dinner with another couple, our very close friends, last evening and had such a wonderful meal. The staff at Axton's are so attentive and the atmosphere is so warm and inviting. We particularly loved the wall of French Doors and the very unique wine bottle wall decor that you would expect to find at an Old World Winery Tasting Room. This is our first visit to Axton's and I am sure it will not be our last. We shared the Clams Casino and Jekyll and Hyde Calamari and although both appetizers were delicious, my favorite was the Clams Casino. Our entrees consisted of Anton's Filet, Bistecca, Scallops Basilico and Chicken David and we all agreed that the entrees were all delicious and the portions were more than generous. Our thanks to Chef Anton Testino and his team for a very memorable dining experience.
We love this place! We brought my daughter and boyfriend from California here and everyone raved about the delicious meals. The Jekyl and Hyde calamari is fabulous, risotto, pasta, and seafood done perfectly. Topped off with strawberry cannoli crepes! Our waitress, Francesca is a gem!
Oh, the bread is delicious! Axton's pork dish is fantastic. Best I ever had! Filet mignon was superb. will be back soon.
It was a party if 5 adults, and we couldn’t stop raving of each other’s meal. Of course is not our first time eating here, but every time we bring new friends to try Chef Anton’s food it seems like a first time to us.
Plus you cannot ask for better service, they treat you like family!

ASIDE FROM MY DISH, THE THE OTHER THREE MEALS WERE OUTSTANDING. MY RISOTTO SCALLOPS BASILLICO, WAS NOT TO MY LIKING - THE SCALLOPS WERE OUTSTANDING, BUT THE RISOTTO WAS MUSHY.
THE CEILING FANS WERE BLOWING TTO HIGH, AND VERY ANNOYING.

Pleasant room. Interesting menu. Loved the stuffed eggplant app. Excellent red sauce (gravy). Bronzino with home made pasta and broccoli rabe in a sherry sauce is very good. Overall very nice experience

Probably the best meal we have had since moving to Kinnelon 8 years ago! The pork special was out of this world! The bread was outstanding. Everything was just wonderful. Will definitely return. BYO is a special bonus! Very unassuming restaurant. Wonderful!

My Chicken Pompton was very generous and the presentation very nice. The overly sweet caramelized onions and the soupy mushy pasta disappointed me. There was a minuscule amount of spinach. There is one waitress so it took a while to order but the food was perfectly hot and came out promptly. My friend ordered the salmon he said it was delicious but got sick about an hour after we finished the meal.
I think the food combinations on the menu are not good. Pork with Scallops and Filet Mignon with scallops???

The food was excellent, but did not care for the way our order of garlic bread was prepared, as it was completely covered with cheese. Our salads and entrees however were excellent.

Very underwhelmed with the desert. I ordered the cannoli filled crape topped with whip cream, fresh strawberries, and chocolate drizzle. What I got was a cold somewhat rubbery rolled crape filled with done tile of cream. There was no fresh strawberries, no whipped cream , instead a few slivered of old stewed indistinguishable strawberries. Very disappointing!
The website also mentioned home made pasta so I ordered linguine with clam sauce. What I got was boxed pasta with chopped clams surrounded by a dozen whole clams.

I was waiting since you opened but then covid came. Was very happy with everything. Loved talking to you also. Loved all the seafood. Will be back again.
