Review summary

Azucar at La Serena Villas offers a stunning rooftop dining experience with "beautiful views" and a "serene ambiance." Guests rave about the blood orange and watermelon margaritas, describing them as "delicious." While some dishes like the Tuna Tartare and Yucca Fries are praised, the service can be inconsistent. Highly recommended for drinks and atmosphere.

Dinner at Azucar for my husband’s birthday was lovely. Good, staff and ambiance was great for a Sunday evening dinner. If you get one of their dishes with pureed purple cauliflower, it is delish, very creamy and light. Only downfall, I had made a reservation for rooftop dining via Open Table but it didn’t say that dinner service ends at a certain time for rooftop but open for cocktails. We were seated inside the restaurant which was nice so no harm done. So make reservations earlier in the evening.

Favorite rooftop to enjoy drinks and a beautiful view of the mountains and downtown Palm Springs. Highly recommend the margaritas (watermelon and blood orange are my favorite). Also ordered tuna tartare which was delicious. The seasonal salad needed more dressing. The sautéed greens were a little salty.

The rooftop restaurant is lovely, but the food we ordered was mediocre, at best. The menu is limited (which I knew before making reservations ), so I expected a 'wow' factor. It just wasn't there for me. We ordered the Halibut and Tuna Tartare. Sadly, it was underwhelming

Underwhelming experience all around. Drinks took quite a while, despite only a few seated tables and two people at the bar at the time. When he delivered our drinks, our server noticed that the bartender made one of our drinks incorrectly. The fish was so overcooked that we had to send it back, which I never do. Our server didn't put in our side dish order with the meal. Door to the dining room wouldn't close completely, causing the outside hot air to blow in throughout the meal.

Fabulous anniversary dinner! The rooftop was closed, so we sat poolside on an 85-degree night. Gorgeous setting. Emilio is an excellent server who answered all of my stupid questions without smirking and provided expert suggestions based on my wife's answers to his questions. We loved our margaritas (tamarindo and blood orange). Starter: the Yucca fries are amazing. She loved the house salad with salmon and I inhaled the crab stuffed poblano. We'll definitely be back!

Service was good and ambience was even better. Food wasn’t necessarily pricey, but most definitely was for the quality. Artichoke appetizer had zero flavor, was a boiled mess, and had water still draining out of it as you pulled pieces off of it. Surf and Turf was terrible! Steak was overcooked, tough, and just plain bad. The sauce was supposed to be chimichurri, but was more like guacamole sauce with no flavor as well. I’d recommend going for drinks, but save your money and eat elsewhere. Staff said a new chef would be onboarding sometime soon. I hope for the restaurant’s sake that it happens quickly. The menu looks great on paper; but the quality and taste are far from what you’re expecting to eat.

Azucar WAS always a must visit when in PS. Wine list was had many unavailable selections and service was kind of matter of fact about it. Food was sloppy and flavorless. Restaurant has new owners and it would seem the days of excellence are in the past.
