Babylon Restaurant - Sydney
Gatherings in Middle Eastern culture are traditionally food centric. They are enjoyed and shared with family and friends, evoking a strong sense of comfort. We believe sharing Babylon's menu will help better uncover the rich flavours and textures of the Levant cuisine which stretches modern Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Syria and Turkey.
Please note that if your preferred time at Babylon is not available, we may have availability at our sister venue Duck & Rice, which is right next door and can also be booked on OpenTable!
The restaurant area is a modern oasis away from the noise of the bar area. Hardest thing was finding where the host is. Depends which escalator you arrive by! The wait staff are friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and everything is pretty much designed for sharing. Left full and happy and it didn’t make a big hole in my wallet like I exprected. I’ll definitely go back!
Great food but service needs some improvement. Doesn’t seem to be much communication between staff.
We had a great night at Babylon. The food was excellent, and plenty for all of us. The service was attentive and efficient.
My only feedback is that there is no need for a 10% surcharge for a group of 10 or more. It's just not necessary and takes the shine of the great food and service.
The food was lovely! Better as a group so you can try more dishes.
They catered for me being lactose intolerant too!
Really enjoyed the night.
arrived at 11:50 to get seated and organized before my clients arrived however restaurant only opens at 12. No one at the desk until 11:58 and then made everyone wait 2 minutes until started allowing guests to enter. Maybe set your booking time from 12:15 onwards to save this problem?
Food was amazing, service in restaurant was a bit slow - had to get the waitresses attention on more than one occasion to be served and have our wine topped up.
All in all great experience and I will be back.
While the food was lovely, the pricing is outrageous! The restaurant management should consider that customers don’t want to leave their establishment feeling they have been ripped off.
Very average experience - food was tasty but over priced, little to no vibe or atmosphere in the restaurant and the service in the bar was embarrassing - 3 bar staff all who had no idea what they were doing and took 15 minutes to service about 3 people. Restaurant staff were better, attentive and friendly but not what i would have expected for the price paid and the hype around the place.
We were charged $16 dollars for table water from the sink that tasted hot and warm And changed it to voss sparkling water cause it wasn’t pleasing
Service was annoying and delayed
Drinks where pretty bad at the start due bro having someone on an interview make our drinks. Hostess was really rude. Waitress had to be called after 10 minutes of waiting to order. Wife ordered an espresso coffee and it was literally two drips of coffee in a cup. The food was amazing from the kitchen and would highly recommend if the service would have been better was really dissalkinted in the service despite the great venue and food
I attended Babylon on Tuesday for lunch at 12 noon with my husband and two children my daughter is 4 and my baby is 2... it can be nervous bringing young children to a nice establishment however the staff and service were exceptional...we were able to order immediately and the food came out very quickly and was enjoyed by the children also... Definitely get the lamb it is amazing... thank You
It missed the mark. The reception staff had attitude and we were served by about 5-7 different waiters. The place is poorly managed. Desert was poor effort. For the price I’d expected better.
Service was fantastic, food was incredible! Absolutely loved it here!
Lovely food and great ambiance.
Very welcoming and outstanding service with an exceptional atmosphere!
Ate at Babylon in the restaurant and the food was very disappointing compared to the bar area. We were advised we couldn't have the bar food.
Food was overpriced and tastless. Was really looking forward to going there as it was a surprise for my bfs birthday.
Fabulous food and not bad service, but really let down by disorganised kitchen and bar. Got a couple of dishes up front and waited forever for the others. A glass had a chop and we waited a good 20mins for a replacement. Just a frustrating experience. The last experience was quite similar but it was in the bar area. This was supposedly full service restaurant area. Don't think I will be back.
It is a beautiful place service is really slow in the restaurant. The outside area has better service and less wait time.
Fabulous! Food was amazing but the best thing was the fantastic staff. We had a great night.
Thanks for dining with us Liz, we looking forward to seeing you again soon!
The food was excellent but the portions were small and isn't truly value for money. Ambiance was generally ok but the music a bit too loud for conversation
Found the food, service and ambience very good - will be returning before Christmas.
Thanks for dining with us Christine, we looking forward to having you back soon!
Impressive flavours & great service. I will be coming back again
Great venue, but such a shame Babylon will not reserve tables for their diners on the rooftop courtyard. Very disappointing & hard to understand their reasoning. Would it not be possible to keep a section aside for reserved seating? Ambience inside is nice, but on a lovely spring evening who wants to be inside? Tables were aplenty in the courtyard but we were not permitted to change from our booked inside table without penalty. Why???
On a brighter note, food & service were faultless. Though we over-ordered for the two of us. I suggest 2 sizes of the meals - small & large - as the one-size-fits-all approach is just too much for only 2 people. 2 sizes would allow 2 diners to try more dishes. We couldn't possibly get through a whole bowl of the very tasty hummus & bottomless bread, nor the excellent cauliflower, chargrilled octopus & lamb. Our friendly waitress did offer to pack our leftovers for us but we were going to a concert after dinner, so we couldn't take her up on the offer.
the policies to change , increase and cancel are ridiculous
First time at Babylon this weekend and completely enjoyed the service, food and décor. Attentive and efficient service; stylish interior; quiet ambience and delicious food. The spiced fried cauliflower is a must!
Great atmosphere and food and super convenient location for a business lunch. We'll be back
The food was cold. The food cost compared to value is disappointing. Your paying for the dinning experience not the food.
If you're looking for somewhere to have rooftop drinks this is a great place to go. I wouldn't recommend reserving a table here as their policy is extremely strict. We had booked a table inside for 4 people but then on the day decided we wanted to sit outside because it was a beautiful day. They wanted to charge us $25 per person to move outside so we were forced to eat inside as per our booking and then we moved outside for drinks once our food bill was settled inside. This was despite the fact that both the inside and outside sections were not even half full. Whatever the restaurant policy might be, this was just not a great way to be treated on our first visit to the venue.
However, the rooftop area is really nice and has a great vibe. Food was also really tasty but pretty pricey for the size of the dishes. I would recommend to friends for drinks and snacks from the bar menu outside.
Booked Babylon for a friend’s bday and we were beyond impressed ! The food is middle easters/ Turkish with a modern twist and the cocktails were magic ! Can’t wait to go back!
Food took a very long time to come, waiter didn’t come to fill out our glasses with water we had to ask a few times. And the noise was very loud.
Delicious food beautifully presented and impeccable service
I visited Babylon recently in a group of 6. Things did not go well from the outset. No one was in attendance at the front desk to show us to our table when we arrived, which meant we had to walk down to the bar to find someone only to be told that they could not help us and we had to go back to the restaurant. We did, and once the girl behind the desk managed to tear herself away from her i-pad, she handed us to the new guy who had no clue about where we were or what to do. Finally seated in one of the banquettes, he informed us that there was no cloakroom. So I guess the alternative to male guests who want to put their coat somewhere is to throw it on the floor.....
We ordered a LARGE BOTTLE of mineral water as two of our guests did not drink alcohol. When this finally arrived, the waitress filled two glasses and took the carafe away. This meant that each time the non-drinkers wanted their glass filled, they had to wave down one of the disinterested staff members to ask for a glass. I can't tell you how irritating that was, particularly as the configuration of the banquettes meant that each time the waitress filled a glass, she had to lean across the table, over the food and over the guests to do it. JUST LEAVE THE WATER ON THE TABLE. It was ridiculous, as was the need to find a staff member every time someone needed their wine glass filled. Either leave the bottle on the table or make sure you are paying attention to your customers and their needs. This place does neither.
Service was slow, our waiter was abrupt and impolite and the overall feel was like sitting in someone's half-finished kitchen. The food, when it finally arrived, was delicious but the overall experience of rude and stupid staff and an utterly charmless interior means that I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone I know. There are so many restaurants in Sydney that deserve patronage and Babylon is certainly not one of them.
Hidden gem in the Sydney cbd! Our dishes were delicious and the interior design was beautiful. Highly recommended
