Banks' Seafood Kitchen & Raw Bar
The place is really nice and has a wonderful ambiance. My server was really knowledgeable and patient. Head chef comes by and checks on your food quality. Food comes out at a rate where you do not feel rushed. Highly recommend to attend!
SERVICE AT THE BAR FROM KEN WAS SUPERB, RECOMMENDED LEMON POMEGRANATE MARTINI FROM BAR MENU, MY WIFE AND I BOTH LOVED IT IN FACT HAD TWO! SERVICE IN THE RESTAURANT WAS EXTRAORDINARY AS USUAL. WE CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY AND BIRTHDAYS HERE EACH YEAR. THE 35 MILE ONE WAY RIDE IS WELL WORTH IT. FOOD IS GREAT, APPETIZER OF TUNA TARTARE AND OYSTER STEW MAGNIFICENT!
THANKS AGAIN TO MR. BANKS FOR CREATING A GREAT SPOT!
And a special thank you to our server Jake who was attentive, patient (we were a party of 6 with a 3 year old) and just all around great.
Great evening! Always top notch food and service. Sashimi was delicious
The food and drinks were great. Our waiter was awesome!
Friendly & helpful service. Food was good but over priced for the portion size and quality.
Excellent service by Sarah
Fabulous date night!
Overall, it was worthwhile . I’ve been to Banks a few times. The only down side for this visit was the inexperienced hostess. We arrived 10 minutes before they opened and decided to sit next to the hostess stand and wait. At noon on the dot, a group of four arrived and were seated immediately. When the hostess returned I said excuse me we are ready to be seated as well. We did wait patiently, after all. Her careless reply towards us was surprisingly awful. She couldn’t have been bothered with us. Banks is an upscale restaurant and guests should be treated with a bit more regard. Especially those who are returning customers, patronizing the restaurant.
Trout cooked perfectly. Companions enjoyed their crabcakes. Coffee excellent (important to me).
No real change from when it was Harry’s Seafood Restaurant. Not as busy as it sometimes was on Thursdays in the past. A good experience and an excellent place to go for crab cakes. Highly recommend this place if your visiting
Wilmington for business or pleasure.
Always good atmosphere, service good and attentive. Salad mediocre for cost, entrees very good but not the exceptional we are used to. Prices seem to have gone up and food quality and quantity down some, but still one of our favorite places.
Excellent experience. They were running a bit behind, but still we sat promptly. Our server was awesome and we had a great experience. Will definitely come back to this recently renamed favorite spot.
Great server - Ashley
Great combination of being attentive without being overbearing
Good food and good service!
Outstanding food and very responsive service. Great work!
Lovely evening to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Great food and service. On the small downside, the dining room seemed smaller than I remembered but with the darkness of a winter night and none of the beautiful summer view, that was unavoidable. Also having a full view of the cooking area didn’t add to the atmosphere but thankfully the kitchen looked pristine and the staff worked quietly.
Great food and service. Good choice for anniversary dinner.
Great food and service. Was ideal choice for our anniversary dinner.
Love this WILMINGTON Riverfront restuarant for fresh seafood! It’s our new favorite. I don’t know what took us so long to try it out after it changed names. We loved it when it was it was Harry’s seafood but now we love it even more!
The seared tuna with soba noodles & sriracha mash potatoes are cooked to perfection! The oysters are so fresh and don’t get me started on the little handmade chocolates for dessert. 😊
The space is really beautiful- too bad the food is mediocre. We shared a spinach salad which they kindly split in the kitchen for us but it was just drenched in dressing. Strike 1. We also ordered the Grand Seafood Plateau which was 2 each of shrimp, oysters, clams, a small ceviche and a single crab leg ( overcooked and rubbery) for $29 which was totally overpriced. Lastly we shared the crab artichoke dip which was very bland. Three dishes - three strikes.
Food was excellent and was visually presented artistically. The staff was friendly and professional without exception.
Food was good! They seemed to be a little short staffed at first but service ended up being good. Great raw bar selection and our party of six all ordered different entrees and really enjoyed them.
Usually we have excellent meals here, but fo Valentines Day the every one of the vegetable/side dishes were oily, poorly cooked and/or cold.
The oysters seemed to be fine, steak was cooked properly, but everything else was really disappointing.
I’m coming back again soon, so I hope it was just overworked and under skilled staff in the kitchen.
Excellent time as usual!
Banks is our go-to for celebratory dinners, but I have to say, it's not as good as it once was. We ordered a bottle of Chateau Neuf du Pape, which is usually an excellent wine, however it wasn't what it should be until around 25 minutes into the meal, it had been stored at a temperature which was way too cold, and it took a long time to come to a temperature that was drinkable. A good bottle of wine like this should be stored correctly, and it plainly wasn't.
My wife had the Lobster Bisque, which was a little 'thin', more like a soup than a bisque, and so said it was not as good as it used to be. I had the Tuna Togarashi, which as always was very good, I always ask for extra spicy and it came as ordered.
My wife had the Salmon which she said was very good, I had the Trout, as the choice was a bit limited, but it was only ok, nothing to wow about. I'm sure they used to have more than 5 fish choices, and the Tuna, Mahi Mahi & Trout always seem to be on and I've tried them all.
I go here for lunch around once a week, and would say the lunch menu is better than the evening menu now. Kind of a shame as we always used to tell everyone to go here and have a great meal, now we'll pass on the recommendations.
I was expecting more. The food wasn’t that great.
Service and food were outstanding. Chef Bank's is not just a culinary genius, he understands all of the components that make a successful restaurant. Just being in the space itself is an enjoyable experience, and the staff is first rate.
Excellent food. Great place to celebrate a birthday!
Wow, the food was fantastic! We had been frequent customers when it was Harry's and then not so frequent after it changed hands.
This was hands down the best dinner we have had in Wilmington in recent years. I started with an assortment of plump, fresh oysters...wonderful. My husband had shrimp cocktail, which was served on my oyster platter (that was one minor thing that did not feel special).
I had the arctic char in a parmesan crust. The vegetable assortment complemented the dish so well, it took it to a whole new. level. My husband had the Bronzino and was equally pleased.
The choices of French white wines by the glass was also quite impressive and pleasing.
Banks will definitely be on our short list from now on.
The stone crabs were not good and smelled funny.
We were a little bit disappointed, maybe this was our fault because we did not look at the menu prior to dining. Very high priced seafood restaurant although the quality was good. The selections were not to our liking. We would’ve liked to had more types of shrimp platters. The ambience was nice and the service was good but I don’t think will be rushing back there anytime soon.
The last time I was there was when it was Harry’s. When I walked in I was surprised, it was not busy. Waitress was great, food ok, but it was not the same food when it was Harry’s.
Went to Banks on a whim to meet old friends. Service was outstanding. Food was excellent. Patrons were warm and friendly.
Excellent as always. Still one of our favorites.
Servers were great in accommodating 2 birthdays at out table
This is my favorite restaurant in Wilmington! Great food, great service and lovely ambiance! They are very accommodating!
I took my boyfriend out for dinner to Banks', after he saw it advertised. We didn't know what to expect but it was amazing. The waitress was prompt and friendly, the seating area was clean. The Executive head chef himself came out 3 times to our table to greet us and and ask if we were enjoying the food or being taken care of in a timely manner. The food was worth the above average price and there was nothing we didn't finish. Portion sizes were perfect for enjoying each course. We will definitely go again!
The fish was excellent, served whole with spinach that was deliciously spicy. The oysters too were fresh and served beautifully. A little disappointed by the scallops platter with only four scallops for $30+
Dessert and wine and drinks were all good and service friendly casual.
Above average food, nice presentation, nice ambiance, good service
