   Such a fantastic place to go for a nice dinner! Every time has been wonderful, and all of the staff is very kind to our kids. The food is wonderful, and I am happy to have done a chef's menu where we eat whatever the chef is cooking. I tried severla dishes I would not have ordered, and they were superb.

   Fantastic experience as always. Loved the food and the new delicious addition dishes to the menu such as Brussels sprouts & also the beef tartare and scallops. Loved it.

   Best Australian server in town❤️ He gave us sound advice on food options and drinks right throughout the evening. The place was busy right throughout the entire night but we were always made to feel important. A great spot

   Really cool atmosphere. Very reflective of modern Chinatown. Food is good but portions could be bigger for the price. Can easily spend $100 and still be hungry. Service very good and lovely location for a date.

   My taste palette is more traditional and I prefer to let the natural flavor of the food shine. Bao Bei's take on modern Chinese food was too salty, too sour, too artificial for my liking. Therefore, the price to portion ratio of the food was even more unfavorable for me. The clientele should have been an indicator for me as everyone seated were non-Asian. Seems like this restaurant may cater more to American taste buds, hence it's "modern" take on Chinese food. The tables were also too small to sit comfortably and the server didn't clear our table when new dishes arrived. In addition, getting to the restaurant was sketchy. The neighborhood is crawling with homeless people and it didn't feel safe, especially if you're walking to/from or around the restaurant.

   Our daughter gave my husband and I Bao Bei gift cards over 2 years ago. Finally, we got to appreciate a night out on her behalf while visiting Vancouver. From the moment we were greeted inside the entrance to the completion of our dining experience we were treated very well by the staff. The Pina Coladas were the best. The tasty dishes were served separately allowing us to savour the unique flavours and leaving just enough time between each new plate of king pea tips, mantou buns, shao bing, scallops and rice. Delicious food, good ambiance with decor that has character and charm!

    Every dish was surprisingly tasty. We ordered 7 dishes in total and shared each one. It is rare to have 7 dishes, and to love every one of them. Presentation was great, and the use of spices accented the food and did not overpower them. Their preparation of scallops was amazing. Crispy, golden on top, with juicy texture inside, on a bed of sauteed vegetables in a accenting, but flavorful sauce. It is hard to add flavor to scallops and not overpower the scallops. They pulled it off. The pork buns were a surprise! They were more like soft pork bun tacos with a perfect balance of pork, vegetable, and shaved pickle filling. The beef tartare was a favorite. The thinly sliced taro chips were crisp and seasoned and tasty on their own. However, they were also well suited for holding generous portions of the properly seasoned and prepared tartare. The omlette was silky and creamy. Who knew you could have such omelettes as part of your dinner? My wife did! Anyways, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we were happy to pay the reasonable bill for services. We will be back. We go out weekly and this restaurant was one of best, start to finish, in the year.

    Our waiter was remarkable, well-spoken, attentive, and sharp. He helped to elevate our remarkable experience. He also made great suggestions for food choices. The scallops, the fried rice, and the fried chicken were my favorites.

    Service, food, ambience, everything was amazing. My husband loved the house made spicy pepper paste that combined ghost, Thai, and other chilis. Cocktails were unique and well-made. Bean curd, lamb sandwich, sticky rice cakes, green veggies, and fried chicken were standouts. Great service and we could tell everything was prepared with care. Tight and well-done menu. We will be back.

    Dumplings are so good! fried rice and some vegetarian dishes are very good! Good selection of cocktails. It’s a modern Chinese chic. Bao Bei means precious. Love it!

    We booked Mark Singson’s Plant Power pop-up go celebrate my partners bday and had the best experience. The food was amazing and super inspiring/fun, to which the service and ambience (rap/hip hop 👌🏻) only complimented. Thanks for a great eve as always 🤌🏻

    Awesome spot. Great to see some of the same wonderful staff after many years. While I like the simplicity of Bao Bei's processes, responding to emails and special requests doesn't seem to happen. We dined there last night for our 19 or 20th time for a special occasion which was noted in both an email and on Open Table. We also requested a change in reservation time by email. No response in either case even though our requests were well in advance. The restaurant is fabulous but a bit more of a personal touch for dedicated patrons would be a plus.
