Bar Centrale Ratings and Reviews
Bar Centrale is one of my favourite places. The food is authentic Italian prepared with quality ingredients.
My niece and her new partner were in from out of town and we had lunch there. The calamari and risotto were BIG hits. Really exceptional.
I often meet friends there for breakfast, lunch and dinner....and I often bump into friends there. The decor is great, the terrace is great, the food is great and very well priced.
Lovely warm day to sit on pleasant patio. Really excellent pasta
Extremely salty food!! Sent salad back because it was inedible, brought one back just as salty! Not impressed...
Dinner was delicious. Hip cool relaxed vibe. Very comfortable. Perfect for a date on a rainy day.
Great service with relaxed ambiance and very nice wine list. We appreciated our server's ability to accommodate various food allergies.
A great spot for drinks, snacks or dinner. Cocktail list is creative and tasty. Food is delicious. Service is friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend.
All our food came at once - rather than in courses - so things got cold pretty quickly. Otherwise the food was tasty, and the service was prompt.
Bar Centrale...how could I pick between this delightful diner and it's bigger half Terroni that resides above it? Arguably, I have written more review about Terroni which is truly one of my go-to standard, never disappointing, meets all my cravings, any time of any day and/or night- than any other restaurant I've been asked to review. So, without having to pick between my favorites, I'll dive right into what makes Centrale such a special place to land when you want an intimate experience, quick but excellent service- and the culinary engine that drives this gastro-block at Prince and Yonge. For one, you don't have to walk up any stairs...which is a bonus if you're just not feeling up to it, or can use all the time you have to grab a quick bite. But far more important, is the cozy, smaller scale of the place, that is welcoming like a diner- not overwhelmingly noisy, no crowds or exciting buzz, just easy vibes...and direct sunlight if you plant yourself in front of one of the windows-which I did on the only sunny day last week. The menu is also concise and yet full of options. It's easy to decide when not faced with 14 delicious pasta or pizza options...the few things that are on the menu are the best hits, and you won't feel like you're missing out if you don't pick what you don't pick. Service is fast and personal. Food is divine. And so is the coffee....which is why I ended up buying a 2 1/2 pound bag right there and then. Awesome place to kick off the weekend (I was there for Friday lunch). And it may just have to be the favorite I pick this time around....
Great food great location
Fun and great patio
Service is just average
Nice, quaint little restaurant
Fun, casual place, with Toronto roots. Friendly staff.
It was hard to get a server or bartender's attention. Too bad. Nice space.
Everything was tasty. My risotto was a little under cooked but still flavourful. Service was attentive and our server made great recommendations
Bar Centrale has managed to maintain their standards - still a very good Italian trattoria. We find the food and service more consistent than Terroni.
I love the room and the energy go the restaurant. It's my favourite place to meet for breakfast.
We dined here a few nights ago to celebrate a promotion. We ordered bruschetta as an appetizer, as one does. Not only did it take forever, but they served it to us after we got our main meals (we were half way through them)... When we tried to cancel the order (we tried multiple times but they stalled), they rushed it out and then made us feel pressured to still receive it. We tried to cancel the order twice. The server insisted it was coming and initially refused to accept the cancellation, she blamed the kitchen as well - which made no sense because our mains came out in a timely manner (she had obviously forgot to punch in our app, but then still forced it through). Very bad experience. Completely ruined the celebration, and made it feel like we wasted our money... we're still quite upset. We didn't even receive an apology.
Don't accept a cancellation, then still bring out an app that is super late, during a main course, and pressure people to still accept it. Insanely bad service.
Didn't have a record of the reservation - luckily had a table.
This is an excellent restaurant with an outdoor patio on a side street off Yonge. Friendly helpful staff but the service is TOO SLOW at dinner. Our server apologized several times for the slowness saying the kitchen was backed up but I was there on a weeknight so this shouldn't happen. Lunch is much quicker there.
A great spot for drinks or a delicious meal. My daughter and I shared three delicious appetizers for an early supper before I headed out of town on a Friday night. The food and service were great, and the neighbourhood provided a nice place for a short walk after dinner before I hit the road. Would definitely go back.
Terrible service: slow, disorganized. Overcooked food.
