Enjoy an intimate dining experience at Bar Isabel -- a cozy restaurant where creative Spanish-inspired small plate dishes are combined with craft beers and cocktails. The restaurant's elegant interior boasts an intriguing blend of soft lighting, curved walls and a beautiful mosaic tile floor.
Managed under the guidance of Chef Grant Van Gameren, Bar Isabel's menu includes a diverse mix of tapas, cheese, seafood dishes and entrees. Diners rave about the grilled octopus, the cheese platter and the oysters. Treat yourself to some Andalusia cured tuna, tossed with almonds and citrus. For dessert, the Basque cake and sherry cream is a must-try. Bar Isabel is open up until midnight through most of the week. The restaurant extends its closing time to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a good pick for late night dining.
Friday & Saturday 6pm - 2 am
Food and service were great, noise level was high.
The best meal and service I've had in a long time. Just let them take care of you.
Awesome food, drinks, experience - every time.
The place was very nice and had a nice ambience. Meat and cheese plate was nice blend , but felt undervalued. Homemade bread , shishoto peppers and eggplant was delicious , probably the hightlight of the meal. Pork Jowel, was grilled very nice and moist, but was lacking something , perhaps a sauce or something to accompany the pork rather than a simple grilled piece of meat. The octopus was slightly tough and again was lacking in something to make it great. Overall the food started great but was expecting more from the meat courses. This was my first experience with a Spanish restaurant so maybe this is the authentic way, but felt a bit lacking in the end. The service was very good, also boosted a very nice beer and wine list
Great food and service, super cool ambiance. Everything tasted amazing. Wine was good, we ordered a couple glasses based on our servers recommendations. A bit pricey, but it youre Ok with that if definitely recommend
I’ve been to a two Michelin Star (Cracco Milan) a one Michelin Star ( Al Capriolo, Veneto) some of the best restaurants in Toronto, Vancouver and I also happen to be a Chef for the Canucks and the City of Vancouver. Let’s start with the food, it was simply amazing. I convince my friends to join me because I knew it would be an unforgettable experience, and although the food was fantastic what stuck to us was the lack of friendliness from the servers. From the start he talked down to us unaware of me being a Chef and my palad for fine food. He was unfriendly and condesending. The host was accommodating and although the bartenders where fantastic they lacked a friendly Character. I could tip $100 or $1 depending solely on service and I have always given a strong accurate honest reviews because when I cook I would like the same, and I would like even more to know that all the hard work that goes into cooking such a fantastic meal (tapas) and a people spending almost $400 can all be ruined by servers that perhaps are having a bad day but none the less shouldn’t affect their performance.
Great value for money. we had whatever they brought us and an excellent red and left full and happy at $110 each including a 15% tip and a $70 bottle.
Some dishes quite tasty but pricey. For example, scallop dish was amazing, but 3 for $20? BI is for those who want to experience it once or twice, not a place I would repeatedly visit.
Tasting menu was delicious as always.
The food is really really good, but the place it’s so loud, you can’t have any decent conversation, unless you speak louder than your neighbour...:)
Absolutely impeccable service. Food portions are generous and fairly priced. Ingredient quality is high and presentation of food is Spanish in style.
Celebrated a birthday here and it was a fantastic night. Excellent service and amazing food!!
We loved the staff and the food!! Our servers were very attentive and quick to refill water or check in that our meals were to our liking. They even remembered requests I put in the reservation comments. The food was FANTASTIC.
Always a treat to visit Bar Isabel. Food and service have been fantastic each time we’ve gone! A little pricey to make it a regular stop but worth the money when you go. Interesting menu items and beautiful flavours. A great way to try some things you normally wouldn’t see on a menu.
Amazing experience great vibes service was amazing water was filled always and change of napkin as I left to the restroom 10/10 would go again
Bar isabel is the best place if you like european food experience, especially for Octopus!!
Met up with a friend for food and cocktails here.Potato bravas were delicious, cocktails and wine even more so.Our server/bartender was friendly, knowledgeable and knew his stuff. Will definitely be back 😊
Too loud, it’s my fav resto in the city but tend to avoid it because i can’t talk to anulan accompanying me!
Brought my boyfriend here for his birthday and the food blew us away! The servers were also amazing and incredibly knowledgeable of the food
The food here is always outstanding and the octopus is our favourite. Staff are very attentive and make recommendations on how big or small a portion you should get based on your overall order so you can try many items without ordering too much food. It’s one of our favourite spots.
Amazing! Best place in Toronto. Food is spectacular, wine list great, super charming! I highly recommend the fois graça toast, shrimp, bone marrow is insane!
Feel bad when the server says” I just wanna get closer to you” to my girlfriend, even it’s maybe just a joke.
Fun kitchen, quality plates, very pleasant service.
Crowd is entirely young. Which means dark and raging decibel level. That’s how you keep the old people out. But the menu is excellent. Good range of options, wonderfully cheffed and complemented with a somewhat pricey per glass wine list. There are a few other $$ road hazards, like the hams—which I presume are the real deal, ranging from domestic to imported and the cost partly reflects the first class seat it flew over on. Nice attitude throughout, fun, satisfying array of plates. What’d you say?
One of the best dining experiences in Toronto. Hands down.
Excellent meal and service except the patatas bravas which were overdone and dry - but the staff kindly comped the order on the bill.
I have been to many Spanish venues, this was the best by far. As in most Spanish restaurants this one is open late. Gets busy at 11:00.
Absolutely amazing food, some portions were bigger than I expected for tapas, fantastic service!
Overall, our experience was enjoyable but we won’t be back or recommend. I found the service to be curt and inpersonal. Asked for a drink recommendation and got the sense our server was annoyed with our question. I got the sense they’ve begun to rest on their laurels, which is a mistake considering the level of competition in the city.
Everything was amazing.
Never dissapoints for a good dinner in Toronto. The seafood is cooked always on point and the drinks are phenomenal.
Service was very good, food was beautifully presented. The problem we had was it was on a warm day where the restaurant became very busy, by the time we finishing up our meal, we felt quite hot. It was difficult to enjoy the meal when the air conditioning was not quite adequate.
The service was knowledgeable but pushy on selling food. There is no way we could have eaten as much as they wanted us to eat but they missed an opportunity to sell us more drinks. We were only served ONCE over two hours and had to ask for the second cocktail but for some reason, they only brought my wife one?!?! And it was a Wednesday night with some empty tables so there is no excuse other than something else was going on. I saw three staff working the floor. It was very loud and energetic but not a great place for decent dinner conversation.
Definitely good food but I can't get past the one drink service. I can only think it was an off night for the server but our expectations were high and I doubt that we will go back.
Have dined at Bar Isabel many times. Always a treat. Food is incredible and the staff are very hospitable. Probably my favourite restaurant in Toronto.
Excellent authentically Spanish tapas, nicely presented and intelligent,y spaced. Efficient and pleasant service. But extremely noisy, which is enough to prevent us from returning.
Staff, food and service were amazing. We were treated to a dessert and digestif for our 25th anniversary. Only disappointment was the grilled octopus which was overdone.
Love the atmosphere and the food :) great experience. Although a little pricey but can't really complain.
Impeccable service and wonderfully authentic food!
The food is excellent, and most items "blew us away". We tried the mixed plate (cheese/chorizo), bread, mushroom /celeriac salad, patatas bravas, pork belly, shrimp, and Basque cake. Corkage fee (bring your own bottle) is very pricy. Overall, I'm so glad I celebrated my birthday there with friends!
Such great food. Highly recommended. A tiny bit pricey but not awful.
