Managed under the guidance of Chef Grant Van Gameren, Bar Isabel's menu includes a diverse mix of tapas, cheese, seafood dishes and entrees. Diners rave about the grilled octopus, the cheese platter and the oysters. Treat yourself to some Andalusian cured tuna, with almonds and citrus. For dessert, the Basque cake and sherry cream is a must-try. Bar Isabel is open until midnight Sunday through Thursday, and extends its closing time to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a good pick for late night dining.
I’ve come here a few times and have always enjoyed the restaurant. This time Was different. At the start of the dinner a waiter spilled a drinks tray, shattering glass all over myself and the floor. I was cut on my ankle because glass got into my shoe. The whole experience was terribly handled and I won’t be returning again.
Bar Isabel was a very charming experience. The food was very good and the service was attentive. I loved the lighting and ambiance. It felt a little bit like traveling to a difference time and place...
It was the best experience and amazing service
Great food - delicious chorizo, homemade bread, everything was great. We had the front table by the window, nice little date night for us. Enjoyed every bite, while sipping a bit of wine. Cool ambiance as well, server was helpful with menu, we enjoyed our first time there.
It was magnificent! Food was DELICIOUS!
We have been before and enjoyed the experience however this time is enough to post a review for. Unfortunately, both of us were quite ill with upset stomachs following our meal here.
Service and food and drinks were impeccable, as usual. Table of young folks got a little boisterous next to us, which seemed to be amplified by the acoustics at the rear of the resto. Otherwise was another awesome Bar Isabel experience!
Great food! Loves the ambience, steak was incredible! Delicious cocktails
Love everything there!
I’m sure I will go again next time with more friends!
Thank you all!
Everything was amazing! I highly recommend this restaurant and urge people to try at least 3 or 4 different dishes (Octopus is a must along with the foie gras). I will certainly be back!
Your restaurant came highly recommended and we were both disappointed and turned off by the arrogance of the “ sommelier”. Please tell him not to make customers feel cheap and belittled when they opt for a $50.00 or $75.00 bottle of wine. His words sounded like an arrogant lecture and left us feeling as if we were “ unworthy “ of being guests and not welcomed . We will not return .
I have been an avid fan since Bar Isabel first opened its doors. Food and drinks aside, the team is what makes this place. Thank you for yet another memorable night!
10 stars all around! The meal was perfect. Delicious from start to finish and the service is always top notch.
Very disappointing. We were excited about the braised wagyu shortrib on the specials, which we ordered as soon as our server came over. We had chosen a couple other dishes and were a bit surprised he recommended more, but trusted him because they've never steered us wrong before. We ate and then they cleared the table, but the short rib hadn't come and at that point we were stuffed and canceled it. They tried to make it up by giving us dessert for free, but the meal was ruined. No clue how it happened, but very disappointing.
Its my favourite restaurant.Everytime I go its even better than the last time.
Another wonderful experience at Bar Isabel. Two people, and we shared: house bread, 6 oysters, 4 razor clams, large butter lettuce salad, chorizo verde, secreto, and the basque cake. The pacing was perfect and we were comfortably full!
Great food and good service
Overall too loud to have a conversation with your part, however, that can and will be overlooked on our next visit
Amazing food, some of the best in the City. Place is very small and super loud but that won’t take away from the experience.
Great food, great place, great hospitality!
From the food to the service I was absolutely blown away! We ordered the bone marrow (super buttery and delicious) the sea bream ceviche (delicious take on ceviche. Tart and creamy with the avocado) and of course the star of the show (octopus and mushroom salad)
The service was incredible and I cannot wait to visit again
Big thank you to bar Isabel for the wonderful evening
Food is phenomenal, service was a bit hit and miss on a busy night and the music is very loud.
Interesting choice of permanent and temporary menu. Good choice of wines and beers. The ceviche and mushrooms were amazing, but a little disappointed by the pork jowl. The service was very good.
Overall excellent food! Blistered shishitos were a bit undercooked. Garlic shrimp really really tasty. Ditto for the grilled cow tongue! Patatas bravas pretty good. Ham croquetas yummy. We brought our own wine. Corkage fee is $35, which allowed us to bring a wine of our choice and one that would normally be outside our budget if we were choosing off the wine list. Nothing outstanding about service, but adequate. It’s pretty noisy place so not a place for quiet dinners, but that’s what I like about this place - a very lively ambience. Highly recommend!!!
Great spot. Always amazing food. Authentic Spanish dishes and love wine selection
We were asked to leave because of another reservation before we had finished. This is unacceptable at over 100 dollars per person and probably would have ended up spending double. Will never return.
We went for our 8 year anniversary dinner. We've never been to Bar Isabel before, but we spent 10 days in Barcelona in the summer of 2019. I would say the food is comparable to some of the best tapas bars that we visited while there. Other than the fact that there weren't as many seafood options, which you can expect because we're in Toronto. The wine selection was really great. They have orange skin contact wine from Georgia by the glass for a decent price, plus a bunch of other budget friendly options by the bottle. There are some great looking wines available too, if you want to break the bank!
Our severs were very freindly, even though though they were really busy, they were all very attentive.
All the staffs were very friendly, professional. We’ve never had a bad experience because they keep evolving on customer service, foods and ambience.
Great Spanish food. Bone marrow dish is not as good and valued since there's only two pieces of bone and 4 slices of breads.
I dragged my husband and adult daughter out to this Spanish restaurant that was outside of their usual repertoire. Their complaints turned to satisfaction early in the evening, especially with my daughter who does not drink in front of her parents. The tapas arrived quickly, and the main servings were interesting and satisfying, especially the greens and the octopus. The service was excellent, and I relished the quasi art nouveau interior. It was a bit too noisy, but we could hear each other with a few repetitions and without straining our voices. My chief complaint is the high price point on the wines. This was a very un-Spanish experience. There should be a very affordable house wine. I ordered the second least expensive item on the list, and sipped my one glass very slowly but it ran out before I had finished the meal. When I returned home, I went to the cupboard, uncorked a good tempranillo from the LCBO, and had the rest of a glass of wine. I am pretty sure I was still under the Ontario driving limit! The whole bottle cost the same as my thimble of wine at Bar Isabel.
Good spanish tapas. Very expensive though. I've been to other spanish restaurants and their food was exquisite for half the price. We had a very good and attentive waiter, sitting at the bar.
Fantastic food along with fast and friendly service made my evening thoroughly enjoyable. A must visit for anyone looking great food and a friendly atmosphere.
We arrived for our reserved table just in time for our waiter to abandon us for with glasses of water while he sucked up to a table of 8 for the next 15 minutes. After we threatened to leave he apologized but the damage was done. Food wasnt that great either.
It’s probably our fav date place in the city
Amazing food and great ambience, as always. We’ve tried this restaurant about 6 years ago and thought it was amazing. Finally had the chance to come back and it the food just as amazing as I have remembered it.
A touch of Spain in Toronto. If you can't book a flight to Barcelona, just get a table at Bar Isabel. You won't be disappointed.
Identical restaurant from bar marsella in barceloca
I have loved Bar Isabel for a long time but this time just did not measure up. The only dish I enjoyed was the foie and sobresata. Overall completely underwhelming and not worth the cost.
Bar Isabel is a lively restaurant with great food. We had the grilled octopus, oysters, snow pea leaves, the jambon tasting plate, sea bream ceviche. Everything was delicious, and the ceviche was probably my favourite - the octopus was likely my least favourite. Definitely go and enjoy the food and the crowd.
