Managed under the guidance of Chef Grant Van Gameren, Bar Isabel's menu includes a diverse mix of tapas, cheese, seafood dishes and entrees. Diners rave about the grilled octopus, the cheese platter and the oysters. Treat yourself to some Andalusian cured tuna, with almonds and citrus. For dessert, the Basque cake and sherry cream is a must-try. Bar Isabel is open until midnight Sunday through Thursday, and extends its closing time to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a good pick for late night dining.
Great food, incredibly knowledgeable and attentive waitstaff.
Minimal wait time.
Tapas portion sizes but 5-7 orders are recommended.
I’ve been here several times it has always been consistent and delicious! Never disappoints. Great job!
Excellent food and service. Highly recommended!
The food and service were excellent. However, the noise level ruined an otherwise special evening and left my dinner guest and myself with ringing ears and headaches. Too bad.
Great ambience here - dark and stormy. Very loud, great food & drinks.
Tuna mojama had a piece of cheese that overpowered the fish, patatas bravas was pretty small for 14 bucks. Also several dishes were 1-2 dollars cheaper on the menu but when the bill came my cured meat dish was an extra dollar, the pork belly we ordered was 2 bucks more expensive and I'm pretty sure a punch drink we ordered was an extra dollar. Croquettes were ok but not worth 9 bucks for the size, dining room is way too hot and needs either a/c or a fan for airflow. Charging extra for those dishes was my biggest concern, it seemed petty and cheap coming from a restaurant that makes an much money as yours does.
Simply amazing food. Hands down one of the best meals I’ve had. This was my second time at Bar Isabel and look forward to the next time.
Just great - as always!
Best restaurant in the city. Our fourth visit and a continued delight. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for in an incredible meal, patient servers happy to walk you through the menu and ambiance.
Food is absolutely to die for! A little pricey but for the quality it's definitely worth it! Would go back again and again and again. Bartender was easy on the eyes and he was super friendly and knowledgeable 😊😊
Poor service all night long. Food wasn't that great. This was my favourite restaurant in Toronto until this last time. I might never go back.
Overpriced food and the portions are tiny. It's impossible to see anything inside, because it's so dark. Server was rushing us to order, and never said sorry when interrupting our conversations.
Food was delicious - best foie gras ever!!
Everything single item we ordered was outstanding. Thank you!!
We have been to Bar Isabel many times, and it has become a go-to spot for fun, casual meals and for celebrations like birthdays and anniversaries. The food is excellent (any order should include the foie toast, potatas bravas supremo and the basque cake, all of which I constantly think about) and they have great cocktails and wines/ciders/beers. The service is excellent - they make you feel welcome and special, and the servers convey passion for the food. Don’t expect fine dining. Rather, anticipate a packed, dark, loud and convivial space with sharing plates and great flavours. Always a great experience.
Outstanding as usual. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, delicious food. Favorite restaurant in Toronto.
Full of character with spectacular service, incredible food and fantastic cocktails. The staff made the experience for us. Attentive and knowledgeable but not overbearing. Loved every minute and every bite.
Great experience! Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. The food was fantastic! The cocktails and the wine superb. Highly recommend.
Wow! Every single dish we had was incredible! Unique flavours and rich tasting dishes. This was a fantastic spot for a date. Nice red ambient lighting. Take note that it is extremely loud inside due most likely to the acoustics of the restaurant. If you don’t like loud places this might not be for you but if that doesn’t bother you then absolutely give this a try. Service was perfect... food... perfect!
My favorite place to go to celebrate my anniversary.
Believe all the rave reviews, Bar Isabel is phenomenal! We snagged a reservation for a birthday dinner and the service, food and drink were all impeccable. Our server explained the menu thoroughly when we looked a bit confused and every single dish we ordered wowed. The cocktails were both interesting and tasty and they even gave us a small birthday surprise for dessert! All around wonderful first visit to this gem!
The Shrimp al ajillo was the best we ever had!
Great food and atmosphere! Service was a little slow.
Heard so many good things about this restaurant for past 4-5 years. Finally tried it and everything we heard was spot on. The ambience, while a bit loud for a quiet date, is very much like the great tapas places we visited in Barcelona. Decor was very nice and place had a nice, but causal feel.
Food was spectacular. Not sure if I’ll ever eat canned anchovies again. Wanted to try more of the dishes but with only 2 people, we could really try them. The portions l, as tapas, are probably designed for 4 people, so I recommend going with 4-6 people to try more stuff.
All servers knew everything and it was nice that everyone chipped in in all tables, even though you have a primary server. More restaurants should do that.
We’ll definitely be back to try more stuff and to try the desserts. They looked great but we were just too full.
Food was amazing . Server helped us pick a nice variety
Wonderful experience, amazing server and memorable food.
Amazing food. It never disappoints me.
Great food & Nice Wine... wine a bit expensive
We were offered a taster of beer that wasn’t available. We were given the rest of the barrel, gross, for free but never offered an alternative. A second waiter sold us too many dishes we couldn’t finish. The first waiter was surprised!
Mixed cheese charcuterie was boring and Wagyu beef was over salted and chewy
Tuna sweetbreads made the visit worth it
This is my favourite restaurant. Food is amazing.
We go to Bar Isabel a few times each year.
Always superb food-service-ambiance and never disappointed about anything.
Amazing!!! Lovely place to go for enjoying with friends
Food there is delicious. The seabrem, ox rogue, and octopus is definitely a must try. Potatoes is good too for those looking for carbs.
Always incredible food,
It tends to be a little noisy though,
But really translates to a unique energy,
So all in all a fantastic experience
This restaurant serves amazing food, a true feast for taste buds. It is the best feature of Bar Isabel as, in my opinion, service lags behind: it is professional but cold. The decor is interesting, but again does not feel exiting or warm.
The food, drinks, and service were stunning. I cannot recommend them enough. This place is a must try.
Incredible food. Loved the razor clams and grilled octopus. Needed extra sour dough bread to mop up the tasty sauces. Ordering extra croquettes is a must. I’ve never had peas and mushrooms but they were memorable. A little pricey but I left the restaurant feeling very satisfied. Can’t wait to return.
Love the pork belly!
Everything was amazing from the food to the drinks to the service.
This is the best food I have ever tasted in my life. My favourite restaurant. Exceeds expectations in every way.
the best meal i've had in forever. we went for the $60 tasting menu, and there were so many dishes to try, each one better than the last.
